Metal rings and discs Matlab/Simulink 3D model for ultrasonic sandwich transducer design
Metal-endings are integral part of different ultrasonic sandwich transducers. In this paper a new Matlab/Simulink 3D model of the finite metal rings and discs of various dimensions is realized. With this model, which describes both the thickness and the radial resonant modes, and the coupling between them, mechanical impedance of the sample can be easily computed. Resonance frequency-length curves for rings and disks with various materials and for different selected dimensions are given. Also, comparisons of the different approaches in determining of their resonant frequencies are shown. The proposed Matlab/Simulink model requires simpler implementation than other analytical models. That enabled modifying of 1D theory and simplified modelling and projecting of the ultrasonic sandwich transducers with short-endings. Finally, the computed and experimental results are compared. Construction of plant transformation vectors carrying beet necrotic yellow vein virus coat protein gene (i) - transformation vectors
Coat protein gene of beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV) was isolated from inoculated sugar beet roots and leaves of Chenopodium quinoa and Tetragonia expansa, by RT-PCR and imuno capture RT-PCR. Specific primers were made to complement coat protein gene and untranslated leader sequence, so that two fragments were obtained: long (731 bp), which contained coat protein gene and leader sequence, and short (587 bp), with coat protein gene. Fragments were cloned in two plant transformation vectors: pCAMBIA 3301M and pCAMBIA 1304M, which were modified by removing multicloning site and NcoI restriction site at the 5' end of the reporter genes. Vector pC3301M had bar gene which confers resistance against the herbicide gluphosinate ammonium as selectable marker, and pC1304M had gene for resistance to antibiotic hygromycin. Three constructs were made from each vector: CPL, containing coat protein gene with leader sequence; CPS with gene for coat protein, and CPSas with coat protein gene in antisense orientation. All constructs were transfered to Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain LBA4404
Electronic Ceramic Structure within the Voronoi Cells Model and Microstructure Fractals Contacts Surfaces New Frontier Applications
In this study, in order to establish grain shapes of sintered ceramics, new approach on correlation between microstructure and doped BaTiO3 -ceramics properties based, on Voronoi model and mathematical statistics calculations on fractal geometry, has been developed. BaTiO3-ceramics doped with Yb2O3 (from 0.1 to 1.0wt% of Yb) were prepared by using conventional solid state procedure and were sintered from 1320 degrees C to 1380 degrees C for four hours. The microstructure of sintered specimens was investigated by Scanning electron microscope JEOL-SEM-5300. For better and deeper characterization and understanding of the ceramics material microstructure, the methods which include the fractal nature structure, and also Voronoi model and mathematical statistics calculations, are applied. In our research the Voronoi is one specific interface between fractal structure nature and different stochastically contact surfaces, defined by statistical mathematical methods. Also, the Voronoi model practically provided possibility to control the ceramics microstructure fractal nature. Mathematical statistic methods enabled establishing the real model for the prognosis based on correlation: synthesis-structures-properties
Paracetamol-induced changes of haemato-biochemical and oxidative stress parameters in rat blood: protective role of vitamin C and betaglucan
Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is widely used as an ov er-the-counter analgesic and antipyretic drug. The aim of this stu dy was to investigate the possible protective effects of vitamin C (100mg/kg/day i.p.) and Ī² -glucan (40 mg/kg/day i.p.) on altered haematological, biochemical and oxidative s tress parameters in the blood of rats treated with paracetamol (100 mg/kg/day i.p.) for 3 days. Exposure of rats to paracetamol caused changes of some haematological parameters (R BCs count, Hb concentration, Ht value and WBCs count), suggesting that the paraceta mol induced haematotoxicity. Paracetamol reduced serum total protein (TP), album in and globulin, while increased alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotran sferase (AST) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activities compared to the cont rol. The results indicate that paracetamol is led to significant decrease in the c oncentration of Na + and K + and increase of Ca 2+ in the serum compared to the control. Coadministra tion of vitamin C and Ī² -glucan with paracetamol reversed these changes of haematol ogical and biochemical parameters and diminished the toxic effects of paracetamol. Th e obtained results indicated that the concentration of LPO in erythrocytes significantly increased in, while the concentration of GSH significantly decreased in the group treated with paracetamol compared to control group. Coadministration of vitamin C and Ī² -glucan with paracetamol reversed paracetamol-induced alterations in these oxidative stress parameters. This study suggests that paracetamol has significant prooxidative effec ts and may disrupt oxidant/antioxidant balance in erythrocytes. Furthermore, coadministrat ion with vitamin C and Ī² -glucan have protective effects on paracetamol-induced oxidative damage and haematotoxicity.Kragujevac Journal of Science (2016), 38: 135-14
