Stratigraphy and correlation of Precambrian volcanic rocks, Eminence, Missouri
A portion of the Precambrian rocks located in the vicinity of Eminence, Missouri are studied and describes. These rocks are exposed as rhyolitic knobs protruding through hills of Ordovician sediments. The Precambrian rocks under study consist principally of rhyolite, with smaller amounts of tuff and creccis. The rhyolite is a potash rhyolite porphyry, both flow banded and unbanded, with phenocrysts of kaolinized orthoclase in a matrix of quartz and orthoclase. The tuffs contain devitrified glass shards and occasional ash balls such as those exhibited at Cott Mountain. A stratigraphic sequence was determined with the oldest rocks to the south at Stiegel Mountain and the younger rocks at Coot Mountain to the north. The tuffs occur between rhyolite flows. The entire sequence has a general dip to the north; but local variations in dip and strike occur. Basal conglomerate formed from rhyolite boulders occurs with the Ordovician sediments, particularly at the Little Rocky Creek Ford knob. Far-Term Exploration of Advanced Single-Aisle Subsonic Transport Aircraft Concepts
Far-term single-aisle class aircraft concepts for potential entry-into-service of 2045 were investigated using an Interactive Reconfigurable Matrix of Alternatives (IRMA) approach. The configurations identified through this design space exploration were then distilled into three advanced aircraft concepts best characterizing the prominent features identified through the IRMA exploration. These three aircraft concepts were then configured and sized for a 150-passenger capacity and a 3,500 nautical mile design mission. Mission block fuel burn was estimated and compared to a far-term conventional configuration baseline concept and a 2005 l. These comparisons suggest considerable potential improvements in fuel efficiency from the investigated advanced concepts

We agree with Michael J Cox and colleagues1 that clinical management of COVID-19 would be enhanced by further characterisation of bacterial co-infections. A few case reports have described examples of such co-infections.2, 3, 4 However, national5 and international6 guidelines recommend empirical antibiotics for all patients who are severely ill with suspected COVID-19, and that cessation of therapy is left to the clinicians' discretion. An FPGA-based lock-in detection system to enable chemical species tomography using TDLAS
This paper presents the design, implementation and test of a compact, low-cost and fully digital signal recovery system for tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) in narrow line-width gas sensing applications. An FPGA-based digital lock-in amplifier (DLIA), in conjunction with TDLAS using the wavelength modulation spectroscopy (WMS) technique, is utilized to demodulate and extract first (1f) and second (2f) harmonic signals for a narrow CO2 feature in the spectrum region of 1997.2nm. The spectrum in this wavelength region shows suitably weak water absorption, enabling CO2 detection with high resolution. Gas-cell experiments were carried out using the DLIA and a conventional rack-mounted commercial lock-in amplifier. The comparison between the two systems shows good agreement, validating the feasibility of this approach and demonstrating the prospect for extension to a massively multichannel system to implement Chemical Species Tomography

The Reasons for Discontinuation of Infliximab Treatment in Patients with Crohn's Disease: A Review of Practice at NHS Teaching Hospital
Introduction. There is little information on the reasons for discontinuing infliximab treatment in patients with Crohn's disease. The aim of this study was to document these reasons to determine if any were preventable which would allow patients to continue the therapy. Aims & Methods. A review of the medical notes was conducted at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital on patients with Crohn's disease treated with infliximab between 2002â2008 to determine the reasons for stopping it. Results. A total of 65 patients were identified who had treatment with infliximab, of whom 23 (35.3%) had their therapy stopped. The reasons for discontinuation of infliximab in the 23 patients were: 47.8% side effects, 17.4% refractory disease, 13.0% achieved remission and did not receive long-term maintenance treatment, 4.34% pregnancy, 4.34% death, and unknown 13.0%. Conclusions. The main reasons for the discontinuation of infliximab were side effects rather than a lack of clinical response
