Electroweak Sudakov effect on processes at TeV scale

    Get PDF
In Next Linear Colliders at TeV scale, electroweak double logarithmic corrections, which come from the infrared behaviors of theory can not be neglected. It is well known that in QED and QCD, double logarithmic corrections are resummed to all orders, and these corrections can be exponentiated, resulting in the Sudakov form factor. However it is never trivial that double logarithmic corrections in electroweak theory can be exponentiated, because of the spontaneous breaking of symmetry and the pattern of that. We discuss the electroweak double logarithmic corrections at two loop level and explain the differences of ``Soft'' structure between the electroweak theory and QCD (the unbroken non-abelian gauge theory).Comment: 5 pages, 17 figures;Talk presented at Theory Meeting on Physics at Linear Colliders, March 15 - 17, 2001, KEK, Japa

Top Pair Production in e^+ e^- and gamma gamma Processes

We analyze spin correlations between top quark and anti-top quark produced at polarized e^+ e^- and gamma gamma colliders. We consider a generic spin basis to find a strong spin correlation. Optimal spin decompositions for top quark pair are presented for e^+ e^- and gamma gamma colliders. We show the cross-section in these bases and discuss the characteristics of results.Comment: 10 pages, 5 Postscript figures, sprocl.sty, psfig.sty and here.sty are required. Landau-Ginzburg Description of D-branes on ALE Spaces

We study the Landau-Ginzburg (LG) mirror theory of the non-linear sigma model on the ALE space M{\cal M} obtained by resolving the singularity of the orbifold C2/ZN{\bf C}^2/{\bf Z}_N. In the LG description, the data of the BPS spectrum and the lines of marginal stability are encoded in the special Lagrangian submanifolds of the mirror manifold M^\hat{{\cal M}}. Our LG description is quite simple as compared with the quiver gauge theory analysis near the orbifold point. Furthermore our mirror analysis can be applied to any point on the moduli space of M{\cal M}.Comment: 24 pages, 6 figures, reference added, typos correcte

We analyze the spin correlations of the top quark pairs produced at Photon Linear Colliders. We employ the circular polarized photon beams and general spin basis for the top quark pair. We consider general spin bases to find a strong spin correlation between produced top quark and anti-top quark. We show the cross-section in these bases and discuss the characteristics of results.Comment: RevTeX, 16 pages, 6 figures, psfig.sty and here.sty are require

A Systematic Approach to Timeseries Metabolite Profiling and RNA-seq Analysis of Chinese Hamster Ovary Cell Culture

Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells are the primary host used for biopharmaceutical protein production. The engineering of CHO cells to produce higher amounts of biopharmaceuticals has been highly dependent on empirical approaches, but recent high-throughput "omics" methods are changing the situation in a rational manner. Omics data analyses using gene expression or metabolite profiling make it possible to identify key genes and metabolites in antibody production. Systematic omics approaches using different types of time-series data are expected to further enhance understanding of cellular behaviours and molecular networks for rational design of CHO cells. This study developed a systematic method for obtaining and analysing time-dependent intracellular and extracellular metabolite profiles, RNA-seq data (enzymatic mRNA levels) and cell counts from CHO cell cultures to capture an overall view of the CHO central metabolic pathway (CMP). We then calculated correlation coefficients among all the profiles and visualised the whole CMP by heatmap analysis and metabolic pathway mapping, to classify genes and metabolites together. This approach provides an efficient platform to identify key genes and metabolites in CHO cell culture

Brain Dp140 alters glutamatergic transmission and social behaviour in the mdx52 mouse model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a muscle disorder caused by DMD mutations and is characterized by neurobehavioural comorbidities due to dystrophin deficiency in the brain. The lack of Dp140, a dystrophin short isoform, is clinically associated with intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorders (ASDs), but its postnatal functional role is not well understood. To investigate synaptic function in the presence or absence of brain Dp140, we utilized two DMD mouse models, mdx23 and mdx52 mice, in which Dp140 is preserved or lacking, respectively. ASD-like behaviours were observed in pups and 8-week-old mdx52 mice lacking Dp140. Paired-pulse ratio of excitatory postsynaptic currents, glutamatergic vesicle number in basolateral amygdala neurons, and glutamatergic transmission in medial prefrontal cortex-basolateral amygdala projections were significantly reduced in mdx52 mice compared to those in wild-type and mdx23 mice. ASD-like behaviour and electrophysiological findings in mdx52 mice were ameliorated by restoration of Dp140 following intra-cerebroventricular injection of antisense oligonucleotide drug-induced exon 53 skipping or intra-basolateral amygdala administration of Dp140 mRNA-based drug. Our results implicate Dp140 in ASD-like behaviour via altered glutamatergic transmission in the basolateral amygdala of mdx52 mice

Intensive endoscopic resection for downstaging of polyp burden in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (J-FAPP Study III) : a multicenter prospective interventional study

Background Total colectomy is the standard treatment for familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). Recently, an increasing number of young patients with FAP have requested the postponement of surgery or have refused to undergo surgery. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of intensive endoscopic removal for downstaging of polyp burden (IDP) in FAP. Method A single-arm intervention study was conducted at 22 facilities. Participants were patients with FAP, aged ≥ 16 years, who had not undergone colectomy or who had undergone colectomy but had ≥ 10 cm of large intestine remaining. For IDP, colorectal polyps of ≥ 10 mm were removed, followed by polyps of ≥ 5 mm. The primary end point was the presence/absence of colectomy during a 5-year intervention period. Results 222 patients were eligible, of whom 166 had not undergone colectomy, 46 had undergone subtotal colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis, and 10 had undergone partial resection of the large intestine. During the intervention period, five patients (2.3 %, 95 % confidence interval [CI] 0.74 %–5.18 %) underwent colectomy, and three patients died. Completion of the 5-year intervention period without colectomy was confirmed in 150 /166 patients who had not undergone colectomy (90.4 %, 95 %CI 84.8 %–94.4 %) and in 47 /56 patients who had previously undergone colectomy (83.9 %, 95 %CI 71.7 %–92.4 %). Conclusion IDP in patients with mild-to-moderate FAP could have the potential to be a useful means of preventing colorectal cancer without implementing colectomy. However, if the IDP protocol was proposed during a much longer term, it may not preclude the possibility that a large proportion of colectomies may still need to be performed
