The State and Condition of Historical Buildings Located on Partisan Hill in Wroclaw
The paper presents fragments of original archival documentation, which are used to identify the historical outline of the colonnade building and the peristyle pavilion located on Partisan Hill in an old part of Wroclaw. Traces of these buildings date back to the Middle Ages. The state of preservation of these objects was presented on the basis of conducted assessments, drilling cores, and non-destructive and semi-non-destructive tests. Much attention was devoted to the brick walls, brick and reinforced concrete ceilings in flat roofs, as well as to the elements of architectural detail. The presented results include tests of the moisture content and salinity of walls, tests of the compressive strength of concrete and distribution of reinforcement in ceilings. They constitute the first stage of activities that aim to restore the buildings to their former glory
A problem of a multi-scale approach of the assessment of interlayer bond between concrete layers
W artykule przedstawiono problem wieloskalowego podejścia do oceny zespolenia warstw betonowych. Zaprezentowano możliwości zastosowania dostępnych nowoczesnych metod badawczych do oceny struktury betonu w strefie zespolenia w zależności od poziomu obserwacji. Zdefiniowano w pracy te poziomy. Przedstawiono również przykładowe rezultaty badań obrazujące wieloskalowe podejście do oceny struktury betonu w strefie zespolenia warstw. This article presents a problem of a multi-scale approach of the assessment of interlayer bond between concrete layers. The possibilities of applications of available modern measurement methods of the evaluation of the structure of the concrete within the interphase at different observation length scales have been presented. These scales have been defined in this study. Exemplary test results of this evaluation have been also presented in the article
Metody i techniki diagnostyczne stosowane w ocenie stanu technicznego konstrukcji żelbetowych
The paper presents the problems concerning the principles of developing expertise and performing tests on reinforced
concrete structures. The situations that justify the need to provide expertise, the subject of which are constructions made
of reinforced concrete, are described. A layout of the content of expertise that is usually adopted in practice has been
included and commented on. The basic principles that should be followed when diagnosing the structures in question are
provided. The available diagnostic methods and techniques, including non-destructive and semi non-destructive ones,
are reviewed. This review is enriched with classifications that facilitate the selection of specific methods for individual
diagnostic needs. In addition, useful literature with regards to the discussed topic has been indicated.W artykule przedstawiono problematykę dotyczącą zasad wykonywania ekspertyz i badań konstrukcji żelbetowych. Przybliżono sytuacje uzasadniające potrzebę sporządzania ekspertyz, których przedmiotem są konstrukcje wykonane z betonu zbrojonego. Zamieszczono i skomentowano, przyjmowany zazwyczaj w praktyce układ treści ekspertyzy. Podano podstawowe zasady, których należy przestrzegać podczas diagnozowania przedmiotowych konstrukcji. Dokonano przeglądu dostępnych metod i technik diagnostycznych, w tym nieniszczących i seminieniszczących. Przegląd ten wzbogacono
klasyfikacjami ułatwiającymi dobory odpowiednich metod do konkretnych potrzeb diagnostycznych. Ponadto wskazano
przydatną w rozpatrywanym temacie literaturę
Effect of selected quartz mineral admixtures applied in added concrete on their adhesion to concrete substrate
Based on performed research in this paper the evaluation of the effect of selected quartz mineral admixtures applied in added concrete on their adhesion to concrete substrate was presented. These admixtures were quartz and feldspar-quartz mineral used in varying amounts relative to the weight of cement. Research performed by pull-off method presents that feldspar-quartz mineral powder definitely affects adversely on that adhesion
Jet Grouted columns in engineering practice
The article presents the jet grouting technology in the context of engineering practice. The short characteristic of this method, which is often applied in the geotechnical and hydrotechnical engineering, have been illustrated with realized investments descriptions
Non-destructive testing and analysis of a XIX-century brick masonry building
The article presents the results of non-destructive testing and analyses carried out for a brick masonry building from the 19th century, which has many irregularities that involve a lack of inspections and tests of its technical condition for many years, as well as a failure to carry out necessary repairs. The conducted organoleptic tests enabled the most significant building damage to be indicated, and its causes were determined on the basis of the results of non-destructive tests and analyses. These causes include mainly wall cracks, ceiling deflections and excessive dampness. It also contains the relationships, which were developed using non-destructive dielectric and resistive methods when testing the moisture content of the brick walls. These results may be useful for other researchers dealing with brick masonry buildings from a similar period of time. The authors' intention was to present the existing poor technical condition of the brick masonry building and indicate its causes, as well as to present that a lack of appropriate maintenance can lead to a situation in which the life or health of residents is threatened
Non-destructive and semi-destructive diagnostics of concrete structures in assessment of their durability
This paper proposes a comprehensive classification of test methods for the diagnosis of concrete structures. The main focus is on the ranges of suitability of the particular methods and techniques for assessing the durability of structures, depending on the principal degradation mechanisms and their effects on this durability. The survey covers non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, which do not in any way breach the integrity of the tested structures, and semi-destructive testing (SDT) methods requiring material samples to be taken or any other minor breach of structural integrity. An original taxonomy of physical, chemical and biological diagnostic methods, useful in assessment of concrete structures durability, is proposed. Equipment specific for selected advanced testing methods is presented as well as exemplary test results
