    Tujuan laporan kajian ini dibuat adalah untuk projek akhir Diploma Rekabentuk Dalaman, Projek yang dicadangkan adalah Cadangan Menaiktaraf Rekabentuk Ruang Dalaman Kelong Paradise Waterfront Resort di Sabak Bemam, Selangor, Pelbagai proses perlu ditalui bagi menyiapkan tesis ini di mana pelbagai faktor penting telah diambil kira. Oleh kerana Kelong Paradise Waterfront Resort tidak pernah membuat pengubahsuaian lagi sejak ia mula beroperasi pada tahun 2003 hingga 2008, maka ia perlu dinaik tarafkan bagi mengikut piawaian yang telah ditetapkan bahawa setiap lima tahun sekali setiap hotel dan pusat peranginan perlu melakukan penaiktarafan. Selain itu, pemilik ingin membuat perubahan dan menambahkan fasiliti yang ada bagi memenuhi kehendak pelanggan. Antaranya adalah memperluas dan mengatur dewan seminar, menaik taraf bilik dan melengkapkan fasiliti pada setiap bilik, tandas, surau dan sebagainya. Selain itu, ini adalah bagi membantu menaikan lagi industri pelancongan Negara dan sebagai persediaan agar Kelong Paradise Waterfront Resort menjadi destinasi cadangan Malaysia dan dikenali oleh pelancong dari luar serta tersenarai dalam ZOOM Malaysia dan Tourism Malaysia. Ini kerana pusat peranginan ini hanya tertumpu kepada warga tempatan sahaja dan belum tersenarai di dalam program kerajaan tersebut. Matlamat utama kajian ini adalah untuk mengubahsuai imej dan menaiktaraf rekabentuk sediada, mengkaji dan memahami keperluan dan kemudahan yang perlu ada di sesebuah pusat peranginan agar kehendak dan keperluan peianggan terjamin dan seterusnya memperkenalkan dengan lebih luas lagi Kelong Paradise Waterfront Resort ini. Objektif kajian ini adalah mengenalpasti masalah yang wujud dan seterusnya mencari jalan penyelesaian bagi memenuhi kehendak dan keselesaan peianggan. Selain itu juga, kajian kes telah dijalankan terhadap beberapa pusat peranginan yang ada di Malaysia di mana ia perlu diambil kira dari pelbagai aspek kerana ia mempunyai kaitan dengan projek yang dijalankan. Antara kajian kes yang telah dilakukan adalah di Sepang Goldcoast, Resort Tanjung Piai dan Penarik Inn. Kajian dan proses pengumpulan data yang telah dijalankan telah banyak membantu bagi menghasilkan proses rekabentuk yang lebih baik dan mesra pengguna mengikut garis panduan yang telah ditetapkan oleh kllen. Konsep yang dicadangkan adalah symbiosis. Symbiosis adalah hubung kait gabungan antara satu elemen dengan elemen yang lain dan hasil dari gabungan ini membentuk satu elemen bergantung antara satu sama lain. Antara gabungannya adalah tropical, contemporary, rustic dan fresh. Modem indigenous adalah imej yang dicadangkan. laitu gabungan antara imej moden dan elemenelemen asli. Antara cadangan penyelesaian adalah menyediakan kemudahan tandas di tingkat bawah, mengatur ruang di tingkat satu dan mengatur semula ruang bilik ditingkat atas mengikut konsep dan cadangan yang telah dipersetujui

    Effect of putative probiont Enterococcus hirae on the haematological parameters of juvenile African catfish, Clarias gariepinus (Burchell, 1822) during pre- and post-challenge against Aeromonas hydrophila

    Probiotics have been widely known to have the ability to improve the immune system of livestock and aquatic animal. The present study was carried out to evaluate the effect of dietary supplementation of two probiotic isolates of Enterococcus faecium on hematological parameters of juvenile African catfish, Clarias gariepinus during pre- and post-challenge with aquatic pathogen, Aeromonas hydrophila. The probiotics were previously isolated from vegetable wastes (mung bean sprouts, Vigna radiate and cucumber, Cucumis sativus) which have been fermented for 7 days. The experimental fish (270 tails) with an average weight of 5.13 ± 1.03 g were distributed and divided randomly into i) control (30 tails), fed with commercial diet ii) E1 (30 tails), fed with diets supplemented with 108 CFU/ml of E. faecium isolated from fermented cucumber, iii) E2 (30 tails), fed with 108 CFU/ml of E. faecium isolated from fermented mung bean sprouts. The feeding trial was conducted for 50 days. All experimental groups were then challenged with A. hydrophila (1.5 × 106 CFU/mL) via intraperitoneal injection on day 51. Prior to challenge, blood samples were collected from five fish randomly selected from each group on the day 51 (pre-challenge). After 72 hours of post-challenge, blood samples were again collected from five fish from each groups. The hematological parameters such as total erythrocyte count (RBC), total leucocyte count (WBC), packed cell volume (PCV), hemoglobin (Hb), the derived blood indices of mean corpuscular volume (MCV) and corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) were examined. Hematological profiles of pre- and post-challenge infected juvenile catfish were compared with the control groups. The RBC, Hb, WBC, PCV, MCV and MCHC of fish fed with probiotics showed higher significant difference (P<0.05) as compared to control groups during pre- and post-challenge of pathogen. The high level of RBC and WBC during pre- and post-challenge showed the capability of the probiotics to improve the immune response of juvenile African catfish and thus increased the fish disease resistance against A. hydrophila infection. The result suggested that E. faecium could be used effectively as a probiotic in aquaculture

    Studies on pathogenicity effect of Aeromonas hydrophila infection in juvenile red hybrid tilapia Oreochromis sp.

    This study was conducted to evaluate the ability of motile Aeromonas species (MAS) to induce clinical symptoms and some pathological changes in juvenile red hybrid tilapia. A standard dose of infection was selected based on predetermined LD50. Infected fish were observed for any clinical sign and symptom for 96 hours. Samples of liver, spleen and kidney were collected for histopatological changes due to Aeromonas hydrophila infection. Clinical signs of fish included abnormal swimming behaviour and loss of balance. Most of infected fish suffered from haemorrhagic eyes and lesions on the body surface. Some of the them also developed bilateral exophthalmia. Histopathological changes were observed in kidney, liver and spleen. The infected liver showed severe congestion of hepatic veins and vacuoles formation while anterior kidney manifested degeneration of excretory tubules and glomeruli followed by severe haemorrhages and hyaline droplets degeneration. Spleen on the other hand showed tissues degeneration and vacuoles formation. All targated tissues also showed deposition of haemosiderin pigments followed by proliferation of melanomacrphage centres. Development of such symptoms was associated with the infection with Aeromonas hydrophila. The current study has shown that MAS could serve as the primary cause of severe infection not only in red hybrid tilapia but may also infected other freshwater fish species.The results of histological analysis of various tissues indicates a direct correlation between disease infection and histopathological disorders observed in the tissues

    Computer-based safety training for semiconductor industry

    A computer-based safety training (CBT) for semiconductor industry using web as the platform was developed. The CBT system is called Sistem Latihan Keselamatan Berasaskan Komputer (SLK). The CBT system has two main sections which are safety theory modules and accident prevention scenarios. The survey conducted in semiconductor industry concluded that 86.7% of the respondents have successfully increased their safety awareness and understanding towards safety at workplace after studying the SLK system. The highest increment is about 46 % and the lowest is about 8%. SLK system was found to be a practical tool in the selected semiconductor industry and has successfully increased the awareness of safety procedures as well as the understanding of good working practices

    Evaluation of striped catfish, Pangasius hypophthalmus (Sauvage, 1878) dried viscera and its intestinal putative probiont on juvenile African catfish, Clarias gariepinus (Burchell, 1822) growth performance

    The growth performance of juvenile African catfish, Clarias gariepinus were evaluated after feeding with striped catfish, Pangasius hypophthalmus dried viscera and its intestinal putative probiont. The chosen isolated putative probiont were identified as Weissella sp. through 16S rDNA sequence analysis. Utilization of dried striped catfish viscera as well as Weissella sp. as supplementation in African catfish diet show better growth performance in compare to the unsupplemented treatment. At the end of experiment, fish fed with Weissella sp. (T3) showed significantly high growth performance (P0.05) with T2. Furthermore, histological assessment of intestinal villi height of T3 shows significantly longer (P<0.05) than other two treatments. Hence, African catfish diet composed of probiont, Weissella sp. suspension at dosage of 109 cfu/ml diet (T3) was recommended to promote C. gariepinus growth performance
