Cone-Beam Computed Tomography for Evaluation of Apical Transportation in Root Canals Prepared by Two Rotary Systems
Introduction: Due to the importance of apical transportation during root canal preparation, the aim of the current study was to use cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) to assess the extent of apical transportation caused by ProTaper and Mtwo files. Methods and Materials: Forty extracted maxillary first molars with 19-22 mm length and 20-40 degrees of curvature were selected. The mesiobuccal canals were prepared using either Mtwo or ProTaper rotary files (n=20). CBCT images were obtained before and after canal preparation to compare the apical transportation in different cross-sections of mesial and distal surfaces. The apical transportation values were analyzed using the SPSS software. The results were compared with student’s t-test and Mann-Whitney U test. Results: There was no significant difference in the extent of apical transportation between Mtwo and ProTaper systems in different canal cross-sections. The apical transportation value was less than 0.1 mm in most of the specimens, which was clinically acceptable. Conclusion: Considering the insignificant difference between the two systems, it can be concluded that both system have low rates of apical transportation and can be assuredly used in clinical settings
A CBCT Assessment of Apical Transportation in Root Canals Prepared with Hand K-Flexofile and K3 Rotary Instruments
Introduction: Apical transportation changes the physical shape and physiologic environment of the root canal terminus. The aim of the present experimental study was to determine the extent of apical transportation after instrumentation with hand K-Flexofile and K3 rotary instruments by means of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Methods and Materials: Forty mesiobuccal root canals of maxillary first molars, with 19-22 mm length and 20-40° canal curvature, were selected and assigned into two preparation groups. The first group was prepared with K-Flexofile with passive step-back technique and the second group was prepared with K3 rotary instruments. Pre and post instrumentation CBCT images were taken under similar conditions. The amount of root canal transportation was evaluated by Mann-Whitney U test and the chi-square test was used for the qualitative evaluation. Results: The amounts of apical canal transportation with the K3 and K-Flexofile instruments were 0.105±0.088 and 0.150±0.127 mm, respectively with no statistically significant differences. In the manual technique, 25% of the canals had no apical transportation; while 30% of the canals in the K3 group were transportation free. Conclusion: Both systems were able to preserve the initial curvature of the canals and both had sufficient accuracy. Preparation with K3 rotary instruments resulted in apical transportation similar to that of K-Flexofile

Our data sample consists of an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1 of e+e− annihilation data produced by the BEPCII collider and collected and analyzed with the BESIII detector. We exclusively reconstruct three D0 and six D+ hadronic decay modes and use the ratio of the yield of fully reconstructed Dbar D events ("double tags") to the yield of all reconstructed D or bar D mesons ("single tags") to determine the number of D0bar D0 and D+D− events, benefiting from the cancellation of many systematic uncertainties. Combining these yields with an independent determination of the integrated luminosity of the data sample, we find the cross sections to be σ(e+e− → D0bar D0) nb and σ(e+e− → D+D−) = (2.830 ± 0.011 ± 0.026) nb, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Scanning Microwave Microscopy of Vital Mitochondria in Respiration Buffer
We demonstrate imaging using scanning microwave microscopy (SMM) of vital
mitochondria in respiration buffer. The mitochondria are isolated from cultured
HeLa cells and tethered to a solid graphene support. The mitochondria are kept
vital (alive) using a respiration buffer, which provides nutrients to sustain
the Krebs cycle. We verify that the mitochondria are "alive" by measuring the
membrane potential using a voltage sensitive fluorescent dye (TMRE). The
organelles are measured capacitively at 7 GHz. Several technical advances are
demonstrated which enable this work: 1) The SMM operates in an
electrophysiologically relevant liquid (hence conducting) environment; 2) The
SMM operates in tapping mode, averaging the microwave reflection measurement
over many tapping periods; 3) A tuned reflectometer enables increased
sensitivity; 4) Variable frequencies up to 18 GHz are used; 5) In contrast with
traditional matching/resonant methods that exhibit high quality factor that
fail in the presence of liquids, interferometric/tuned reflectometer gives the
possibility to adjust the quality factor or sensitivity even in the presence of
the liquid.Comment: Accepted for publication in IMS 201
Study ofηð1475ÞandXð1835Þin radiativeJ/ψdecays toγφ
The decay J/psi -> gamma gamma phi is studied using a sample of 1.31 x 10(9) J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector. Two structures around 1475 MeV/c(2) and 1835 MeV/c(2) are observed in the gamma phi invariant mass spectrum for the first time. With a fit on the gamma phi invariant mass, which takes into account the interference between the two structures, and a simple analysis of the angular distribution, the structure around 1475 MeV/c(2) is found to favor an assignment as the eta(1475) and the mass and width for the structure around 1835 MeV/c(2) are consistent with the X(1835). The statistical significances of the two structures are 13.5 sigma and 6.3 sigma, respectively. The results indicate that both eta(1475) and X(1835) contain a sizeable s (s) over bar component
Examining Family Cohesion during the Virtual Education of Students in the Course of the COVID-19 Pandemic
Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic is linked to the development of virtual education for students at home and a shift in parental role. The family's cohesion and structure can be affected by a change in parental roles. This study was designed and implemented with the aim of investigating the effects of virtual education system designed for students on family cohesion during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Materials and Methods:A cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study was conducted with 374 parents of public school students in Khaf city in 2021. Samani's family cohesion questionnaire was utilized to collect the required data. The data were then analyzed through SPSS version 26, more specifically by using Tukey's one-way analysis of variance and post hoc statistical tests. The level of significance was set at p<0.05.
Results: Mothers played the biggest role in the virtual education process of their children (69%). The majority of the participants (47.9%) were parents of elementary school students. The mean family cohesion score among the parents was 81.69±23.66, indicating a moderate level. There was a significant difference (p<0.05) in the mean score of family cohesion among the studied parents based on the students’ education stage, the parents’ education levels, occupations, and monthly income.
Conclusion: The results showed that the virtual education of students in the corona pandemic has affected the cohesion of the family. The average level of family cohesion during virtual education is a source of danger for the foundation of the family. More attention should be paid to the issue of the family. The excellence and cohesion of the family requires accurate and practical programs in order to recognize the problems faced by the family during the virtual education of students
