Dispersal of Calluna vulgaris(L.) Hull. seeds on a severly burnt upland moorland

From natural and manipulated experiments at 460 m a.s.l., traps were used to record the dispersal range of Calluna vulgaris seeds on an unvegetated post-wildfire site. Seeds were trapped to 50 m from source, although most (73%) were deposited within one metre of the parent plant. C. vulgaris seeds were not dispersed as far in these experiments as recorded in previous workers’ experiments on lowland grassland

Impact of microstructure, temperature and strain ratio on energy-based low- cycle fatigue life prediction models for TiAl alloys

In this paper, two fatigue lifetime prediction models are tested on TiAl intermetallic using results from uniaxial low-cycle fatigue tests. Both assessments are based on dissipated energy but one of them considers a hydrostatic pressure correction. This work allows to confirm, on this kind of material, the linear nature, already noticed on silicon molybdenum cast iron, TiNi shape memory alloy and 304L stainless steel, of dissipated energy, corrected or not with hydrostatic pressure, according to the number of cycles to failure. This study also highlights that, firstly, the dissipated energy model is here more adequate to estimate low-cycle fatigue life and that, secondly, intrinsic parameters like microstructure as well as extrinsic parameters like temperature or strain ratio have an impact on prediction results.Comment: Attention cette version est une version pr\'e-print (1\'ere version envoy\'ee

Et si les géographes s’intéressaient aux idéologies moins officielles

À partir d'une définition de l'idéologie qui la pose comme expérience vécue d'une situation, cet article propose une étude géographique des légitimations et justifications idéologiques qui émanent de groupes d'identification informels et de communautés peu visibles. La démarche repose sur l'identification des idéologies spatiales véhiculées dans le discours sur Québec et met à jour des réseaux partiels de signification de l'espace se superposant aux idéologies officielles concernant cet espace.Based on a definition of the ideological phenomenon which holds it as a lived-experience of a situation, this article proposes a geographical study of the ideologies issued from informal groups and less visible communities. The study relies on the identification of the spatial ideologies identified through a content analysis of discourses on Québec City and illustrates that partial Systems of representations of space superimpose the official ideologies regarding such space
