    Get PDF
Ratooning is common practice done in sugarcane with purpose of reducing the total cost of cultivation and early cane maturity. More than 35% of sugarcane productivity is lost due to improper attention of the farmers towards ratoons. Majority of farmers reported that the ratoonability wasnā€™t good when harvested in December-January. This experiment was carried out to find the appropriate ratoon shaving time with response to different varieties in sugarcane ratoon crop in the year 2018/19 at national sugarcane research project, Jitpur, Bara. The experiment was conducted in split plot design with four levels of cane genotypes as Co ā€“ 0238, CoLk ā€“ 94184, Co ā€“ 0233 and CoS ā€“ 07250 as the main plot factor while four harvesting dates as sub plot factor with three replications. Observations of a number of millable canes, single cane weight, plant height and single cane diameter were recorded, tabulated and analyzed in R-studio. Ratoon stubble shaving in the month of November had the highest number of millable canes (88079/ha) which wasnā€™t significantly different from the stubble shaving in the month of December, January. Likewise, highest cane yield (60.04 mt/ha), single cane weight (0.757 kg), cane diameter (2.11 cm), plant height (1.82 m) were found in early stubble shaving dates. Cane Yield and various yield parameter shows better performance in early ratoon shaving periods i.e. from November to January than late ratoon shaving dates

Machine Learning Decoder for 5G NR PUCCH Format 0

5G cellular systems depend on the timely exchange of feedback control information between the user equipment and the base station. Proper decoding of this control information is necessary to set up and sustain high throughput radio links. This paper makes the first attempt at using Machine Learning techniques to improve the decoding performance of the Physical Uplink Control Channel Format 0. We use fully connected neural networks to classify the received samples based on the uplink control information content embedded within them. The trained neural network, tested on real-time wireless captures, shows significant improvement in accuracy over conventional DFT-based decoders, even at low SNR. The obtained accuracy results also demonstrate conformance with 3GPP requirements.Comment: Submitted to NCC conferenc

Equivalence of space and time-bins in DPS-QKD

We set up differential phase shift quantum key distribution (DPS-QKD), over 105 km of single-mode optical fiber, with a quantum bit error rate of less than 15% at a secure key rate of 2 kbps. The testbed was first used to investigate the effect of excess bias voltage and hold-off time on the temporal distribution of photons within a gate window of an InGaAs single-photon detector (SPD) and quantified the effects of afterpulsing. The key generation efficiency, and security, in DPS-QKDimprove with an increase in the number of path delays or time-bin superpositions. We finally demonstrate the implementation of superposition states using a time-bin approach, and establish equivalence with the path-based superposition approach, thus yielding a simpler approach to implementing superposition states for use in DPS-QKD.Comment: 7 pages, 14 figure

A Progressive step towards classical uses of Medicinal Plants in Gynecological Disorders

    Get PDF
In India women do not share their Gynecological problems with their family members and not even with her neighbours at early stage of diseases. Generally they share their problems with local practitioners, because there is less chances to disclose their problems in society, another benefit is that local practitioners treat them by local herbal remedies at very low cost. Mostly this work is exploration of different Ayurvedic scriptures for Gynecological problems. About 77 medicinal plants have been recorded having basonyms and latin names of the plants, family, therapeutic uses and their references in different scriptures of Ayurveda and ethno botany. The present study is very much significant to practitioners in their practices and also for researchers to find out the various active phytochemicals and pharmacological agents as a potent drug in the field of Ayurveda

A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Pb on yield and yield attributing parameters of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L. cv Pusa Rohini) and eggplant (Solanum melongena L. cv Pusa Upkar). The photosynthetic pigment content and lead accumulation in both crops were also quantified. Tomato and eggplant crops were irrigated with waters having four concentrations of Pb (2.5, 5.0, 7.5 and 10 ppm). Normal water was used as control (0 ppm) in both the crops. Application of Pb contaminated irrigation water decreased plant height, leaf area/plant, number of fruits/plant, fresh fruit weight/plant, fruit yield/plant, dry weight/plant, above plant biomass/plant. The decrease ranged from 54% to 98% and 51% to 94% in tomato and eggplant, respectively, summarized for various parameters across treatments. The number of days to first fruit harvest increased by 1-2 days in 10 ppm treatment in both the crops. The inhibitory effects of photosynthetic pigments gradually increased with increase in concentration. 10 Pb ppm concentration resulted in the lowest pigment level (mg/g FW) and maximum inhibition rate compared to control. On the basis of the results obtained, it was concluded that tomato was more sensitive compared to eggplant. An attempt was also made to quantify the impact of Pb on the various parameters. The models used were linear, exponential, quadratic, and polynomial of degree 3. The responses could be described very satisfactorily by the polynomial of degree three with R2 > 99% for the both crops for all the parameters

A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Cr on growth, photosynthetic pigment and nutrient uptake of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) and eggplant (S. melongena L.). Tomato and eggplant crops were irrigated with waters having four concentrations of Cr (0.1, 0.5, 2.5 and 7.5 ppm). Normal water was used as control (0 ppm) in both the crops. Application of Cr contaminated irrigation water decreased plant height, leaf area/plant, number of fruits/ plant, fresh fruit weight/plant, fruit yield/plant, dry weight/plant, above plant biomass/plant. The decrease summarized for various parameters across treatments ranged from 62% to 84% and 56% to 77% in tomato and eggplant, respectively. The inhibitory effects on photosynthetic pigments gradually increased with increase in concentration. 7.5 Cr ppm concentration resulted in the lowest pigment level (mg/g FW) and maximum inhibition rate compared to control. It was also observed that the N, P and K content in fruits were significantly affected by the Cr treatments in both the crops. Accumulation of Cr was more in tomato compared to eggplant indicating that tomato was more sensitive to chromium when compared to eggplant. The impact of Cr on the various parameters quantified by using linear, exponential, quadratic and polynomial of degree 3. The responses were described by the polynomial of degree 3 with R2 > 99% for the both crops

    Get PDF
Semen quality is associated with various factors. The objective of the study was to investigate the impact of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism on human semen quality and reproductive hormones level if any. A total of 351 subjects were enrolled. They were subjected to assess the status of thyroid as well as reproductive hormones and semen quality. The subjects were grouped on the basis of thyroid hormone profile as, hypothyroid, hyperthyroid and normal thyroid hormone profile with respect to semen quality and reproductive hormones level. Ā Semen volume, sperm count and viability was non-significant statistically in both hypothyroid and hyperthyroid subjects with respect to subjects with normal thyroid profile. Whereas, percent fast progressive Sperm was significantly lower in hypothyroid subjects, while non-motile sperm was significantly higher in hypothyroid subjects as compared to normal thyroid profile subjects. The data on reproductive hormones level indicated that FSH was higher and testosterone level was lower in both hypo and hyperthyroid subjects as compared to subjects with normal thyroid profile. Although the results were statistically non-significant. While LH level was also higher which was statistically significant in hypothyroid subjects with respect to subjects having normal thyroid profile. The data obtained suggest that impaired thyroid hormone has an impact on semen quality as well as reproductive hormone profile to some extent

ā€˜Gā€™ followed by ā€˜Hā€™-gout follows homoeopathy

    Get PDF
Currently in modern medicine, it is seen that taking a uric acid reducing drug during an attack of gout actually prolongs the pain and discomfort. So, the learning is that one need not worry about high uric acid levels during an acute flair of gout. What actually someone needs is an anti-inflammatory that reduces the inflammation caused by the crystals of uric acid that build up in the joints when someone has gout. This anti-inflammatory drug is ā€˜colchicineā€™. Homoeopathy has been using the drug ā€˜colchicum autumnaleā€™ for last 233 years since its discovery in 1790 by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843). It also uses its active principle ā€˜colchicineā€™ for the last 233 years. It is quite striking to see that the modern medicine is realizing the importance of ā€˜colchicineā€™ currently. The same ā€˜colchicineā€™ was advised to be used as an anti-inflammatory to reduce the markers like C-reactive protein, LDH, D-dimer and homocysteine. During the COVID-19 peak, again the homoeopathic Colchicine came to the rescue. The current article examines the use of homoeopathy in gout and uric acid problems and again at a larger issue with the protein metabolism and the kidney heath. Integration of homoeopathy at large scale will help the nation to protect its members from protein metabolism disorders, kidney health and gout as well
