The Unhiggs
We examine a scenario where the Higgs is part of an approximate conformal
field theory, and has a scaling dimension greater than one. Such an unparticle
Higgs (or Unhiggs) can still break electroweak symmetry and unitarize WW
scattering, but its gauge couplings are suppressed. An Unhiggs model has a
reduced sensitivity of the weak scale to the cutoff, and can thus provide a

Development and validation of the Just Community Gardening Survey: A measure of the social and dietary outcomes of community garden participation
Our aim was to develop and validate a survey measuring outcomes of community gardening related to food system equity. Face validity was assessed by six community gardening experts and resulted in minor changes to the survey. Weighted kappa and Cronbach’s alpha were used to determine test-retest reliability and internal consistency using a sample of community gardeners in New York City (n=38). Weighted kappa analyses revealed almost perfect agreement (mean = 0.981, range 0.498-1, p≤.001). Cronbach’s alpha was calculated for eight scales, most of which had excellent agreement. The resulting 25-item Just Community Gardening Survey consisted of demographic, garden participation, garden activities, social participation, social cohesion, collective efficacy, perceived impact on dietary intake, food access and security, horticultural and environmental knowledge and diet-related health questions. This validated survey not only measures the social and dietary outcomes of community gardening, it incorporates important aspects of food justice not assessed in previous research
Network-wide assessment of 4D trajectory adjustments using an agent-based model
This paper presents results from the SESAR ER3 Domino project. It focuses on an ECAC-wide assessment of two 4D-adjustment mechanisms, implemented separately and conjointly. These reflect flight behaviour en-route and at-gate, optimising given (cost) objective functions. New metrics designed to capture network effects are used to analyse the results of a microscopic, agent based model. The results show that some implementations of the mechanisms allow the protection of the network from ‘domino’ effects. Airlines focusing on costs may trigger additional side-effects on passengers, displaying, in some instances, clear trade-offs between passenger- and flight-centric metrics
Constraints on the formation mechanism of the planetary mass companion of 2MASS 1207334-393254
In this paper we discuss the nature and the possible formation scenarios of
the companion of the brown dwarf 2MASS 1207334-393254. We initially discuss the
basic physical properties of this object and conclude that, although from its
absolute mass (), it is a planetary object, in terms of its mass
ratio and of its separation with respect to the primary brown dwarf, it
is consistent with the statistical properties of binaries with higher primary
mass. We then explore the possible formation mechanism for this object. We show
that the standard planet formation mechanism of core accretion is far too slow
to form this object within 10 Myr, the observed age of the system. On the other
hand, the alternative mechanism of gravitational instability (proposed both in
the context of planet and of binary formation) may, in principle, work and form
