Benchmark Solution for Free Vibration of Moderately Thick Functionally Graded Sandwich Sector Plates on Two-Parameter Elastic Foundation with General Boundary Conditions
The free vibration analysis of moderately thick functionally graded (FG) sector plates resting on two-parameter elastic foundation with general boundary conditions is presented via Fourier-Ritz method, which is composed of the modified Fourier series approach and the Ritz procedure. The material properties are assumed to vary continuously along the thickness according to the power-law distribution. The bilayered and single-layered functionally graded sector plates are obtained as the special cases of sandwich plates. The first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is adopted to construct the theoretical model. Under current framework, regardless of boundary conditions, each displacement and each rotation of plates is represented by the modified Fourier series consisting of a standard Fourier cosine series and several closed-form auxiliary functions introduced to ensure and accelerate the convergence of the series representation. Then, the accurate solutions are obtained by using the Ritz procedure based on the energy function of sector plates. The present method shows good convergence, reliability, and accuracy by comprehensive investigation with some selected classical boundary conditions. Numerous new vibration results for moderately thick FG sandwich sector plates are provided. The effects of the elastic restraint parameters and so forth on free vibration characteristic of sector plates are presented

Clinical utilization of artificial intelligence in predicting therapeutic efficacy in pulmonary tuberculosis
Traditional methods for monitoring pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) treatment efficacy lack sensitivity, prompting the exploration of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance monitoring. This review investigates the application of AI in monitoring anti-tuberculosis (ATTB) treatment, revealing its potential in predicting treatment duration, adverse reactions, outcomes, and drug resistance. It provides important insights into the potential of AI technology to enhance monitoring and management of ATTB treatment. Systematic search across six databases from 2013 to 2023 explored AI in forecasting PTB treatment efficacy. Support vector machine and convolutional neural network excel in treatment duration prediction, while random forest, artificial neural network, and classification and regression tree show promise in forecasting adverse reactions and outcomes. Neural networks and random forest are effective in predicting drug resistance. AI advancements offer improved monitoring strategies, better patient prognosis, and pave the way for future AI research in PTB treatment monitoring
The free vibration characteristics of isotropic coupled conical-cylindrical shells based on the precise integration transfer matrix method
Based on the transfer matrix theory and precise integration method, the precise integration transfer matrix method (PITMM) is implemented to investigate the free vibration characteristics of isotropic coupled conicalcylindrical shells. The influence on the boundary conditions, the shell thickness and the semi-vertex conical angle on the vibration characteristics are discussed. Based on the Flügge thin shell theory and the transfer matrix method, the field transfer matrix of cylindrical and conical shells is obtained. Taking continuity conditions at the junction of the coupled conical-cylindrical shell into consideration, the field transfer matrix of the coupled shell is constructed. According to the boundary conditions at the ends of the coupled shell, the natural frequencies of the coupled shell are solved by the precise integration method. An approach for studying the free vibration characteristics of isotropic coupled conical-cylindrical shells is obtained. Comparison of the natural frequencies obtained using the present method with those from literature confirms the validity of the proposed approach. The effects of the boundary conditions, the shell thickness and the semivertex conical angle on vibration characteristics are presented
Vibration Analysis of Moderately Thick Rectangular Plates with Variable Thickness and Arbitrary Boundary Conditions
A generalized Fourier series solution based on the first-order shear deformation theory is presented for the free vibrations of moderately thick rectangular plates with variable thickness and arbitrary boundary conditions, a class of problem which is of practical interest and fundamental importance but rarely attempted in the literatures. Unlike in most existing studies where solutions are often developed for a particular type of boundary conditions, the current method can be generally applied to a wide range of boundary conditions with no need of modifying solution algorithms and procedures. Under the current framework, the one displacement and two rotation functions are generally sought, regardless of boundary conditions, as an improved trigonometric series in which several supplementary functions are introduced to remove the potential discontinuities with the displacement components and its derivatives at the edges and to accelerate the convergence of series representations. All the series expansion coefficients are treated as the generalized coordinates and solved using the Rayleigh-Ritz technique. The effectiveness and reliability of the presented solution are demonstrated by comparing the present results with those results published in the literatures and finite element method (FEM) data, and numerous new results for moderately thick rectangular plates with nonuniform thickness and elastic restraints are presented, which may serve as benchmark solution for future researches
A modified Fourier solution for vibration analysis of moderately thick laminated annular sector plates with general boundary conditions, internal radial line and circumferential arc supports
In this paper, a modified Fourier solution based on the first-order shear deformation theory is developed for the free vibration problem of moderately thick composite laminated annular sector plates with general boundary conditions, internal radial line and circumferential arc supports. In this solution approach, regardless of boundary conditions, the displacement and rotation components of the sector plate are written in the form of the trigonometric series expansion in which several auxiliary terms are added to ensure and accelerate the convergence of the series. Each of the unknown coefficients is taken as the generalized coordinate and determined using the Raleigh- Ritz method. The accuracy and reliability of the present solution are validated by the comparison with the results found in the literature, and numerous new results for composite laminated annular sector plates considering various kinds of boundary conditions are presented. Comprehensive studies on the effects of elastic restraint parameters, layout schemes and locations of line/arc supports are also made.New results are obtained for laminated annular sector plates subjected to elastic boundary restraints and arbitrary internal radial line and circumferential arc supports in both directions, and they may serve as benchmark solutions for future researches
Vibrations of Composite Laminated Circular Panels and Shells of Revolution with General Elastic Boundary Conditions via Fourier-Ritz Method
A Fourier-Ritz method for predicting the free vibration
of composite laminated circular panels and shells
of revolution subjected to various combinations of classical
and non-classical boundary conditions is presented in
this paper. A modified Fourier series approach in conjunction
with a Ritz technique is employed to derive the formulation
based on the first-order shear deformation theory.
The general boundary condition can be achieved by the
boundary spring technique in which three types of liner
and two types of rotation springs along the edges of the
composite laminated circular panels and shells of revolution
are set to imitate the boundary force. Besides, the
complete shells of revolution can be achieved by using the
coupling spring technique to imitate the kinematic compatibility
and physical compatibility conditions of composite
laminated circular panels at the common meridian
with θ = 0 and 2π. The comparisons established in a
sufficiently conclusive manner show that the present formulation
is capable of yielding highly accurate solutions
with little computational effort. The influence of boundary
and coupling restraint parameters, circumference angles,
stiffness ratios, numbers of layer and fiber orientations on
the vibration behavior of the composite laminated circular
panels and shells of revolution are also discussed
