    Invigorasi Benih Nangka (Artocarpus Heterophyllus Lamk) Setelah Periode Simpan Dengan Pemberian Zpt

    Penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh invigorasi benih nangka dengan pemberian ZPT pada berbagai lama simpan serta konsentrasi ZPT terbaik pada masing-masing lama simpan telah dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Ilmu dan Teknologi Benih, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Tadulako, Palu dari bulan September sampai Desember 2012. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) 2 Faktor yaitu lama simpan dan pemberian ZPT dengan 3 ulangan.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian zat pengatur tumbuh dengan dosis tertentu pada berbagai lama simpan memberikan pengaruh berbeda terhadap invigorasi benih serta pemberian zat pengatur tumbuh 0.05% pada waktu simpan 4 dan 5 minggu menghasilkan invigorasi benih nangka yang terbaik

    PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN TEPUNG KROKOT (Portulaca oleracea L) DALAM PAKAN KOMERSIAL TERHADAP KONSUMSI RANSUM, PERTAMBAHAN BOBOT BADAN DAN KONVERSI RANSUM AYAM BROILER

    The aims of the experiment were to know the effect of adding “ krokot”  flour ( portulaca olaraceae l), in commercial ration on feed comsumption (FC), daily weight gain (DWG)  and feed convertion (FC)  of broiler. One hundread DOC were used in the experiment. This Experiment Used Completely Randomized Design 4 x 5.  The four treatments used in this experiment were : R0 : commercial ration without “krokot” flour; R1: commercial ration + 2.5% “krokot” flour; R2: commercial ration + 5% “krokot” flour: R3: commercial ration + 7,5% “krokot” flour. Data were analysed with ANOVA and followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The results of the experiment showed that the treatments was not significant effect (P>0,05) on feed comsumption (FC), daily weight gain (DWG) and feed convertion (RC). It can be concluded that adding of “ krokot”  flour up to 7.5%  did not effect feed comsumption (FC), daily weight gain (DWG) and feed convertion (RC) of broiler. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penambahan tepung krokot (portilaca oleracea l) dalam pakan komersial terhadap konsumsi ransum, pertambahan bobot badan, dan konversi ransum pada ayam broiler.  Penelitian ini menggunakan 100 ekor ayam broiler. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL)  yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Empat perlakuan yang digunakan adalah  R0  = ransum komersial tanpa krokot; R1 = ransum komersial + dengan 2,5% tepung krokot;  R2 = ransum komersial + dengan 5% tepung krokot; R3 = ransum komersial+ dengan 7,5% tepung krokot. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA diikuti dengan uji jarak berganda Duncan.  Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan tidak berpengaruh pada konsumsi ransum, pertambahan bobot badan dan konversi ransum.  Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa bahwa penambahan tepung krokot dalam ransum komersial sampai level 7,5% memberikan pengaruh yang sama terhadap konsumsi ransum, pertambahan bobot badan, dan konversi ransum pada ayam broiler

    Some Metal Oxide-Natural Rubber Composites for Gamma- and Low-Energy X-Ray Radiation Shielding

    This work studied protective material consisting of several metal oxide composites (Pb3O4, WO3, SnO2, and Bi2O3)-natural rubber (NR) for X-ray and gamma-ray shielding. The composites were prepared through open milling and vulcanization processes and further characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), rheometry analysis, and density gauge. The attenuation coefficient of the sample was investigated using X-ray generators with voltages ranging from 50 to 140 kV and gamma-ray energies ranging and 356 to 1250 keV, respectively. The experimental results show that the linear attenuation coefficient of NR filled with metal oxides was significantly improved compared to pure NR. For gamma-ray 661 keV, the HVL of NR decreased from 9.0 cm to between 4.4 - 6.2 cm after it was filled with metal oxides. The Bi2O3-NR is the best suitable material for gamma-ray attenuation, followed by Pb3O4-NR, WO3-NR, and SnO2-NR. Meanwhile, for x-rays, the HVL of NR decreased from 2.0 cm to between 0.17 -0.31 cm after it was filled with metal oxides. The proposed metal oxide-NR composites can be appropriate as a flexible protective material for manufacturing wearable radiation shielding products such as gloves, aprons, rubber underwear, and other wearable materials
