    Process Optimization and DOE Application in the Synthesis of Rociletinib Intermediate

    Critical step of Rociletinib synthesis, regioselective nucleophilic aromatic substitution of C-2 chlorine at pyrimidine molecule 3 with amine 2, was optimised by implementation of pre-DoE screening and DoE-based algorithms. The synthesis reaction was developed and optimised by following a quality by design (QbD) approach, whereby a control strategy was developed for enhanced level of quality assurance. Optimisation of three main parameters (volume of solvent mixture, solvent ratio, and NaOAc quantity) resulted with good isomer ratio of over 8:1 with respect to desired C-2 isomer 4 with minimum of di-substituted impurity 6. The crude product was, however, contaminated with Zn-based inorganics and had to be recrystallized to achieve acceptable purity and assay. Interaction of process variables and their corresponding effects on the percent conversion of maleic acid were discussed. Consistency of statistical model was verified by analysis of variance (ANOVA). API quality specifications (purity, impurity levels) are described across the modelling of process space, which was defined through quality target specifications (conversion NLT 70 %; Product Compound 4 NLT 50 %, Impurity 5 NMT 20 %, and Impurity 6 NMT 0.5).     Photocatalytic Treatment of Air: How to dealwith the problem of TiO2 deactivation

    n this study photocatalytic oxidation of toluene, used as model VOCs in the gas phase on different types of Ti-based catalytic materials was investigated. The objective of this work was to find out additional information regarding activity and stability of catalyst during photocatalytic treatment of the polluted air. Two designs of the photoreactor were used: classical type of an annular reactor and annular reactor with recirculation. All measurements were performed at room temperature, atmospheric pressure and at constant initial toluene concentration, relative humidity and total flow rate of the reaction mixture. Some experiments were carried out with catalysts thermally treated on different temperatures (350–450 °C). It was found out that thermal treatment of deactivated photocatalyst at higher temperature is efficient method of TiO2 reactivation. According to results presented in this paper problem of catalyst deactivation can be partially solved by using annular reactor with recirculation of one part of reaction mixture entering the reactor

    Ex situ integration of iron oxide nanoparticles onto exfoliated expanded graphite flakes in aqueous suspension

    Hybrid structures composed of exfoliated expanded graphite (EG) and iron oxide nanocrystals were produced by an ex situ process. The iron oxide nanoparticles coated with meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA), or poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) were integrated onto the exfoliated EG flakes by mixing their aqueous suspensions at room temperature under the support of 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide (EDC) and N-hydroxysuccinnimide (NHS). EG flakes both naked and functionalized with branched polyethylenimine (PEI) were employed. Complete integration of the two constituents was achieved and stability was maintained for more than 12 months. No preferential spatial distribution of anchoring sites for attachment of iron oxide nanoparticles was observed, regardless of whether the EG flakes were used naked or functionalized with PEI molecules.     Body appreciation around the world: Measurement invariance of the Body Appreciation Scale-2 (BAS-2) across 65 nations, 40 languages, gender identities, and age.

    The Body Appreciation Scale-2 (BAS-2) is a widely used measure of a core facet of the positive body image construct. However, extant research concerning measurement invariance of the BAS-2 across a large number of nations remains limited. Here, we utilised the Body Image in Nature (BINS) dataset - with data collected between 2020 and 2022 - to assess measurement invariance of the BAS-2 across 65 nations, 40 languages, gender identities, and age groups. Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis indicated that full scalar invariance was upheld across all nations, languages, gender identities, and age groups, suggesting that the unidimensional BAS-2 model has widespread applicability. There were large differences across nations and languages in latent body appreciation, while differences across gender identities and age groups were negligible-to-small. Additionally, greater body appreciation was significantly associated with higher life satisfaction, being single (versus being married or in a committed relationship), and greater rurality (versus urbanicity). Across a subset of nations where nation-level data were available, greater body appreciation was also significantly associated with greater cultural distance from the United States and greater relative income inequality. These findings suggest that the BAS-2 likely captures a near-universal conceptualisation of the body appreciation construct, which should facilitate further cross-cultural research.     Exposure and connectedness to natural environments: An examination of the measurement invariance of the Nature Exposure Scale (NES) and Connectedness to Nature Scale (CNS) across 65 nations, 40 languages, gender identities, and age groups

    Detachment from nature is contributing to the environmental crisis and reversing this trend requires detailed monitoring and targeted interventions to reconnect people to nature. Most tools measuring nature exposure and attachment were developed in high-income countries and little is known about their robustness across national and linguistic groups. Therefore, we used data from the Body Image in Nature Survey to assess measurement invariance of the Nature Exposure Scale (NES) and the Connectedness to Nature Scale (CNS) across 65 nations, 40 languages, gender identities, and age groups (N = 56,968). While multi-group confirmatory factor analysis (MG-CFA) of the NES supported full scalar invariance across gender identities and age groups, only partial scalar invariance was supported across national and linguistic groups. MG-CFA of the CNS also supported full scalar invariance across gender identities and age groups, but only partial scalar invariance of a 7-item version of the CNS across national and linguistic groups. Nation-level associations between NES and CNS scores were negligible, likely reflecting a lack of conceptual clarity over what the NES is measuring. Individual-level associations between both measures and sociodemographic variables were weak. Findings suggest that the CNS-7 may be a useful tool to measure nature connectedness globally, but measures other than the NES may be needed to capture nature exposure cross-culturally
