BRST Detour Quantization
We present the BRST cohomologies of a class of constraint (super) Lie
algebras as detour complexes. By giving physical interpretations to the
components of detour complexes as gauge invariances, Bianchi identities and
equations of motion we obtain a large class of new gauge theories. The pivotal
new machinery is a treatment of the ghost Hilbert space designed to manifest
the detour structure. Along with general results, we give details for three of
these theories which correspond to gauge invariant spinning particle models of
totally symmetric, antisymmetric and K\"ahler antisymmetric forms. In
particular, we give details of our recent announcement of a (p,q)-form K\"ahler
electromagnetism. We also discuss how our results generalize to other special
geometries.Comment: 43 pages, LaTeX, added reference
The 5'-3' exoribonuclease Pacman (Xrn1) regulates expression of the heat shock protein Hsp67Bc and the microRNA miR-277-3p in Drosophila wing imaginal discs
Pacman/Xrn1 is a highly conserved exoribonuclease known to play a critical role in gene regulatory events such as control of mRNA stability, RNA interference and regulation via miRNAs. Although Pacman has been well studied in Drosophila tissue culture cells, the biologically relevant cellular pathways controlled by Pacman in natural tissues are unknown. This study shows that a hypomorphic mutation in pacman (pcm5) results in smaller wing imaginal discs. These tissues, found in the larva, are known to grow and differentiate to form wing and thorax structures in the adult fly. Using microarray analysis, followed by quantitative RT-PCR, we show that eight mRNAs were increased in level by >2 fold in the pcm5 mutant wing discs compared to the control. The levels of pre mRNAs were tested for five of these mRNAs; four did not increase in the pcm5 mutant, showing that they are regulated at the post-transcriptional level and therefore could be directly affected by Pacman. These transcripts include one that encodes the heat-shock protein Hsp67Bc, which is upregulated 11.9-fold at the post-transcriptional level and 2.3-fold at the protein level. One miRNA, miR-277-3p, is 5.6-fold downregulated at the post-transcriptional level in mutant discs, suggesting that Pacman affects its processing in this tissue. Together, these data show that a relatively small number of mRNAs and miRNAs substantially change in abundance in pacman mutant wing imaginal discs. Since Hsp67Bc is known to regulate autophagy and protein synthesis, it is possible that Pacman may control the growth of wing imaginal discs by regulating these processes

X-ray emission from the double-binary OB-star system QZ Car (HD 93206)
X-ray observations of the double-binary OB-star system QZ Car (HD 93206)
obtained with the Chandra X-ray Observatory over a period of roughly 2 years
are presented. The orbit of systems A (O9.7 I+b2 v, PA = 21 d) and B (O8 III+o9
v, PB = 6 d) are reasonably well sampled by the observations, allowing the
origin of the X-ray emission to be examined in detail. The X-ray spectra can be
well fitted by an attenuated three temperature thermal plasma model,
characterised by cool, moderate, and hot plasma components at kT ~ 0.2, 0.7,
and 2 keV, respectively, and a circumstellar absorption of ~ 0.2 x 10^22 cm-2.
Although the hot plasma component could be indicating the presence of wind-wind
collision shocks in the system, the model fluxes calculated from spectral fits,
with an average value of ~ 7 x 10^-13 erg s-1 cm-2, do not show a clear
correlation with the orbits of the two constituent binaries. A semi-analytical
model of QZ Car reveals that a stable momentum balance may not be established
in either system A or B. Yet, despite this, system B is expected to produce an
observed X-ray flux well in excess of the observations. If one considers the
wind of the O8 III star to be disrupted by mass transfer the model and
observations are in far better agreement, which lends support to the previous
suggestion of mass-transfer in the O8 III + o9 v binary. We conclude that the
X-ray emission from QZ Car can be reasonably well accounted for by a
combination of contributions mainly from the single stars and the mutual
wind-wind collision between systems A and B.Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures. Accepted for the ApJS Special Issue on the

NURA-Nazarbayev University research accelerator: a new linac for WDM, HEDP and HIF
A project called NURA [1] which is a new linear accelerator (Linac) for Warm Dense
Matter (WDM), High Energy Dense Plasma (HEDP) and Heavy Ion Fusion (HIF) is described. The
NURA will be similar to the NDCX-II at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory featuring an induction
linac [2]. Furthermore, the facility will be designed to allow the flexibility of additional laser heating and
diagnostic beam in combination with the ion beam
Clinical Impact of a Novel Interprofessional Dental and Pharmacy Student Tobacco Cessation Education Program on Dental Patients
Objectives:
• To compare the difference between IPE care and standard care (SC) groups regarding dental patients\u27 perceptions of knowledge gained about tobacco cessation, intentions to quit tobacco use, and quit attempts at follow-up.
• To evaluate perceptions of IPE care.
Background:
Based on the link between tobacco use and oral health and the frequent contact between dental providers and patients, the dental clinic is an ideal setting to address tobacco use.1
• Many dentists feel unprepared providing tobacco cessation education, particularly pharmacologic treatment options.1-3
• Pharmacists promote safe and effective pharmacologic treatment options for tobacco dependence and patients’ perceptions toward pharmacist-provided tobacco cessation education have been positive.4-6
• A novel interprofessional education (IPE) program involving dental and pharmacy students may address the need for tobacco cessation education in the dental clinic setting

Closed-Loop Model-Based Design of Experiments for Kinetic Model Discrimination and Parameter Estimation: Benzoic Acid Esterification on a Heterogeneous Catalyst
An autonomous reactor platform was developed to rapidly identify a kinetic model for the esterification of benzoic acid with ethanol with the heterogeneous Amberlyst-15 catalyst. A five-step methodology for kinetic studies was employed to systematically reduce the number of experiments required to identify a practical kinetic model. This included (i) initial screening using traditional factorial designed steady-state experiments, (ii) proposing and testing candidate kinetic models, (iii) performing an identifiability analysis to reject models whose model parameters cannot be estimated for a given experimental budget, (iv) performing online Model-Based Design of Experiments (MBDoE) for model discrimination to identify the best model from a list of candidates, and (v) performing online MBDoE for improving parameter precision for the chosen model. This methodology combined with the reactor platform, which conducted all kinetic experiments unattended, reduces the number of experiments and time required to identify kinetic models, significantly increasing lab productivity
