    Study of Molecular Mechanism of Antibiotic susceptibility against Polymicrobial Oral infection

    Abstract

Introduction- Antibiotic to treat dental caries infection are routinely prescribed. Bacteria have increased resistance to the currently recommended antibiotics. The purpose of this investigation was to perform antibiotic susceptibility on a panel pathogenic strain of bacteria isolated step by step from dental caries infection. 
Materials and Methods-Bacteria were isolated from caries site of patients and cultivated identified at the species level. Each of 150 species of bacteria was tested for antibiotics susceptibility to a five antibiotics using Etest. Antibiotic used were Amoxicillin, Cloxocillin, Erythromycin, Tetracycline, Penicillin-V.
Results- The percentages of Resistance in treatment for each antibiotic in this study were penicillin V: 72/150 (48%), Tetracycline: 99/150 (66%), amoxicillin: 135/150 (90%), Cloxocillin: 117/150 (78%), and Erythromycin: 90/150 (60%) (Table 1). If combination antibiotic therapy had been used to treat the bacteria isolated from dental caries, the percentage of Resistance for the combination of penicillin V/Amoxicillin would have been 39/150 (26%), and the combination of amoxicillin/ Erythromycin would have been 45/150 (30%).
Conclusion- This study demonstrated the Molecular Mechanism of antibiotic resistance and susceptibility pattern, of bacteria causing dental caries. The comprehensive results data obtained will allow in investigating spatial distribution of pathogenic antibiotic resistant bacteria in patients of dental caries. In turn this will allow the development of novel diagnostic and treatment methods.

    Computing Multiplicative Order and Primitive Root in Finite Cyclic Group

    Multiplicative order of an element aa of group GG is the least positive integer nn such that an=ea^n=e, where ee is the identity element of GG. If the order of an element is equal to G|G|, it is called generator or primitive root. This paper describes the algorithms for computing multiplicative order and primitive root in Zp\mathbb{Z}^*_{p}, we also present a logarithmic improvement over classical algorithms.Comment: 8 page

    Photon redshift and the appearance of a naked singularity

    In this paper we analyze the redshift as observed by an external observer receiving photons which terminate in the past at the naked singularity formed in a Tolman-Bondi dust collapse. Within the context of models considered here it is shown that photons emitted from a weak curvature naked singularity are always finitely redshifted to an external observer. Certain cases of strong curvature naked singularities, including the self-similar one, where the photons are infinitely redshifted are also pointed out.Comment: Latex file, 14 pages, no figures, one change in the reference.     Studies on fatigue behaviour of weld-bonds of Al-Mn-Mg alloy

    In the present paper, fatigue and metallurgical behaviour of weld-bonds and adhesive bonds developed using 2 mm thick aluminium alloys namely 5052 alloy have been reported. Weld-bonds were prepared using structural adhesive (Epoxy resin) and spot welding (20 kA welding current for 6 cycles welding time at welding pressure of 0.5 MPa). Curing after applying Epoxy resin for developing adhesive bonds and weld bonds was performed at a temperature of 100 oC for 90 min. Fatigue tests were conducted under tension–shear loading pattern with stress ratio of 0.5 and loading frequency of 5 Hz. The maximum tensile shear load for fatigue test was kept at different level i.e. 90%, 80%, 70% and 50% of the ultimate shear tensile strength of weld bond and adhesive bonds. The fatigue lives of both adhesive bond and weld-bond joints decreased with increase in maximum tensile shear load. Fatigue performance of weld bond was higher than adhesive bond especially at high load

    Anti-HIV therapy: pipeline approaches and future directions

    Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), with about 30 million deaths and double infections (in developing countries), is an open challenge today for global scientists. Developing safe and effective measurements against it has become the prime need of hour. Though, putting it at health priority, various efforts like chemotherapy, vaccines and others are attempted globally over last decade. Consequently, highly active antiretroviral therapy was introduced but fails to completely block the viral replication due to drug resistance and various other severe side effects. The antigenic variability and lack of appropriate experimental models is the major obstacle in the development of an ever effective treatment against HIV. However, to overcome the present hurdles and to emerge a preventive HIV vaccine efforts at various platforms are done. A renewed, coordinated research, preclinical studies, clinical trials together with sufficient long term scientific and commercial commitments are made. Few of the therapeutic efforts viz. RNA interference (RNAi) based replication arrest of HIV, viral enzymes’ inhibitors, nanotechnology based HIV control and various preclinically trialed vaccines are reviewed in this paper. Also, the observed toxicity of existing therapeutic regimen, key challenges and future prospects for the development of better tolerated prophylactic HIV-1 vaccine are discussed

    Is toric duality a Seiberg-like duality in (2+1)-d ?

    We show that not all (2+1)(2+1) dimensional toric phases are Seiberg-like duals. Particularly, we work out superconformal indices for the toric phases of Fanos C3{\cal{C}}_3, C5{\cal{C}}_5 and B2{\cal{B}}_2. We find that the indices for the two toric phases of Fano B2{\cal{B}}_2 do not match, which implies that they are not Seiberg-like duals. We also take the route of acting Seiberg-like duality transformation on toric quiver Chern-Simons theories to obtain dual quivers. We study two examples and show that Seiberg-like dual quivers are not always toric quivers.Comment: 21 pages, 7 figures, to be published in JHE
