    Pharmaceutico-analytical study of Mayurpiccha Bhasma - An Ayurvedic preparation

    Background: Mayurpiccha Bhasma is a classical Ayurvedic kalpa prepare from peacock feathers, which is commonly used for treatment of Vomiting, Hiccups, Respiratory illness etc. Method of preparation of Mayurpiccha Bhasma is mentioned in Siddhayog sangraha and Bhaishyajya Samhita. Material and Methods: Mayurpiccha Bhasma was prepared by procedure mentioned in Siddhayog sangraha i.e. Peacock feathers are burn on ghee flame and finished product was subjected to various Physico-chemical analysis like Moisture content, Ash value, Chemical components etc. Observations: Observations were noted while testing of finish product. Result and Conclusion: Various observations and reports of tests were noted

    Anand Bhairav Rasa is a traditional Ayurvedic medicine and having therapeutic importance. It has total 12 Pathabheda as per Rasa Yog Sagar (R.Y.S.)[1] Anand Bhairav Rasa is specifically acts on Jwar (fever) and Atisar (diarrhoea). Among this 12 Pathabhedas each Pathabheda has different herbal, metal and mineral contents. Hingula (cinnabar) and Vatsanabha (Aconitum ferox) are two most important contents which are almost common among all Pathabheda. Each Pathabheda has unique indications, But among all Jwar and Atisar has most common therapeutic use. Other indication are Kasa (cough), Shwasa (asthama), Prameha (diabetes), Ajirna (indigestion), Apasmar (epilepsy), Grahani (IBS) etc. This paper enlightens on those all points like contents, dose, Bhavana, Anupana, Pathya and clinical indications of Anand Bhairav Rasa. Anandbhairav Rasa is an important formulation in the practice of Ayurveda. There is 12 Pathabheda in Rasayogsagar of an Anandbhairav Rasa.     Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana is the branch of Ayurveda which deals with study of preparation & standardization of Herbal, Minerals or Metals and Herbo- Mineral formulations. Lauha Kalpas (iron compounds) are the unique compound. It is one among the herbo -mineral formulations, where Lauha Bhasma (iron Bhasma) is used as a major ingredient.     Karanjadi Taila is medicated oil used in Ayurveda for Indralupta (Alopecia). Indralupta comes under Kshudra Roga which is characterized by loss of hair it can be correlated with Alopecia areata which is having chief complaint of hair loss on body especially on scalp. The aim of the present study is to do physic-chemical standards for the above Taila and its conversion into Karanjadi Taila cream. These two formulations have a special importance from pharmaceutical point of view when compared to usual Tailas or cream.
