Comparison of two head-up displays in simulated standard and noise abatement night visual approaches

Situation and command head-up displays were evaluated for both standard and two segment noise abatement night visual approaches in a fixed base simulation of a DC-8 transport aircraft. The situation display provided glide slope and pitch attitude information. The command display provided glide slope information and flight path commands to capture a 3 deg glide slope. Landing approaches were flown in both zero wind and wind shear conditions. For both standard and noise abatement approaches, the situation display provided greater glidepath accuracy in the initial phase of the landing approaches, whereas the command display was more effective in the final approach phase. Glidepath accuracy was greater for the standard approaches than for the noise abatement approaches in all phases of the landing approach. Most of the pilots preferred the command display and the standard approach. Substantial agreement was found between each pilot's judgment of his performance and his actual performance

The Fourth NDC-IE conference occurred eleven years later in Peoria, Illinois. It was hosted by Bradley University in the summer of 2008. This NDC-IE included the largest attendance ever with a total of 93 participants. The topics discussed included: research, the role of a DOF, growth of programs, ethics in forensics, tournament administration, education/competitive duality, growth of the activity and debate and IE relationships

The Pitfalls, Perils, and Promise to Increasing Forensic Research

Based on the above statement by Harris, Kropp, and Rosenthal (1986), I feel compelled to qualify my opening sentence to this article. I opened by stating Research, in fact, provides the foundation for all we do in forensics. A more truthful statement is that research should provide the foundation for all we do in forensics. I am not convinced this is the case

Join the festivities during National Library Week and celebrate the joy of reading. Come and spend an hour with the author Kirstin Cronn-Mills, recipient of the American Library Association Stonewall Award for her book entitled Beautiful Music for Ugly Children. Recognized as one of the best novels written for young adults in 2013 by the Young Adult Library Services Association, the book talk will explore the novel\u27s genesis while providing insight into the author\u27s thoughts on the book\u27s storyline and characters. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 16th at 1:00 p.m. in Memorial Library Casual Learning Lab (ML 45)
