Hazard estimation for censored data contaminated with additive measurement error: application to length of pregnancy
International audienceWe consider random variables which can be subject to both censoring and measurement errors. We focus on the case where the measurement errors affect both the variable of interest and the censoring variable, which is the case of the timing of spontaneous delivery among pregnant women. We propose an estimation strategy to estimate the hazard rate of the underlying variable of interest. We explain the model and this strategy and provide L2-risk bound for the data driven resulting estimator. Simulations illustrate the performances of the estimator. Lastly, the method is applied to a real data set of length of pregnanc
Deconvolution estimation of onset of pregnancy with replicate observations
International audienceExcept in the specific case of in vitro fertilization, the precise date of onset of pregnancy is unknown. In clinical practice, the date of pregnancy may only be estimated, and most commonly from ultrasound biometric measurements of the embryo. Denoting the interval between last menstrual period and true onset of pregnancy and the interval between last menstrual period and the date estimated by ultrasound, we wish to estimate the density \fx of . Only noisy observations are observed and the density of is unknown. Because the noise itself cannot be sampled for the estimation of its density, we consider the specific setting of replicate noisy observations and , . We suggest an adaptive non-parametric estimator of \fx built following a deconvolution device. Convergence rates are studied and compared to other settings that do not involve replicates. Lastly, we estimate the density \fx in spontaneous pregnancies with an estimation of the noise obtained from replicate observations in twin pregnancies
Spline regression for hazard rate estimation when data are censored and measured with error
International audienceIn this paper, we study an estimation problem where the variables of interest are subject to both right censoring and measurement error. In this context, we propose a nonparametric estimation strategy of the hazard rate, based on a regression contrast minimized in a finite dimensional functional space generated by splines bases. We prove a risk bound of the estimator in term of integrated mean square error, discuss the rate of convergence when the dimension of the projection space is adequately chosen. Then, we define a data driven criterion of model selection and prove that the resulting estimator performs an adequate compromise. The method is illustrated via simulation experiments which prove that the strategy is successful
Adaptive estimation for stochastic damping Hamiltonian systems under partial observation
International audienceThe paper considers a process Z t = (X t , Y t) where X t is the position of a particle and Y t its velocity, driven by a hypoelliptic bi-dimensional stochastic differential equation. Under adequate conditions, the process is stationary and geometrically-mixing. In this context, we propose an adaptive non-parametric kernel estimator of the stationary density p of Z , based on n discrete time observations with time step. Two observation schemes are considered: in the first one, Z is the observed process, in the second one, only X is measured. Estimators are proposed in both settings and upper risk bounds of the mean integrated squared error (MISE) are proved and discussed in each case, the second one being more difficult than the first one. We propose a data driven bandwidth selection procedure based on the Goldenshluger and Lespki (2011) method. In both cases of complete and partial observations, we can prove a bound on the MISE asserting the adaptivity of the estimator. In practice, we take advantage of a very recent improvement of the Goldenshluger and Lespki (2011) method provided by Lacour et al. (2016), which is computationally efficient and easy to calibrate. We obtain convincing simulation results in both observation contexts
