Strategic Audit: Starbucks
Starbucks Corporation is an international coffee brand that is expanding operations. There are many obstacles to this level of growth, and the company needs to take great care in the differentiating the way stores are built in the United States and internationally. In order to establish brand longevity, the company should examine several strategic options. A final strategy can be chosen based on the results of a situational analysis, financial analysis, and company goals. After a final strategic recommendation has been made, a contingency plan will be created to ensure long-term success
Redemption in the Dean’s Office
Academic deans, like all leaders trying to create principled-based positions, are subject to the hubris of power and the often divergent demands of many stakeholders. Dean Clements discusses how a leader’s failures, as well as successes, are all necessary to properly cultivate this role
The AKARI Deep Field South: A New Home for Multiwavelength Extagalactic Astronomy
The importance of multiwavelength astronomical surveys is discussed in the
context of galaxy evolution. The AKARI Deep Field South (ADF-S) is a new, well
placed survey field that is already the subject of studies at a wide range of
wavelengths. A number of ADF-S observational programmes are discussed and the
prospects for the ADF-S as a future resource for extragalactic astronomy is
explored.Comment: Invited review for the 2nd International AKARI Conference, accepted
for publication in Publications of the Korean Astronomical Societ
University Scholar Series: Craig B. Clements
Groundbreaking Research on Wildfire Weather
On November 28, 2012 Craig B. Clements spoke in the University Scholar Series hosted by Provost Ellen Junn at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library. Craig Clements is an associate professor in the Department of Meteorology and Climate Science who received a $900,000 National Science Foundation CAREER grant for his work in tracking atmospheric conditions in and around wildfires. His work will better help predict wildfire behavior and conditions that could lead to increased wildfire danger.https://scholarworks.sjsu.edu/uss/1016/thumbnail.jp
Stable group delay cable
It was found that group delay is function of pressure in air dielectric coaxial cable. For example, 600-ft air dielectric cable will change phase 10 deg at 150 MHz when air pressure in cable changes from zero to 20 psi
