The motorized spindles play an important role in high precision and high speed metal cutting, and increase productivity benefit in die and mode, medical, and aerospace industries. As a result, improper high speed operation of bearings and system causes lower reliability. Lot of technology and sensors are development to monitor the failure of improper operation of motorized spindle. In this paper, one piezo-electric force sensor is developed. And, One Class SVM is investigated to monitoring and detects the unbalanced tool operation. The result shows the monitoring system is validated successfully

Women with endometriosis have higher comorbidities: Analysis of domestic data in Taiwan

AbstractEndometriosis, defined by the presence of viable extrauterine endometrial glands and stroma, can grow or bleed cyclically, and possesses characteristics including a destructive, invasive, and metastatic nature. Since endometriosis may result in pelvic inflammation, adhesion, chronic pain, and infertility, and can progress to biologically malignant tumors, it is a long-term major health issue in women of reproductive age. In this review, we analyze the Taiwan domestic research addressing associations between endometriosis and other diseases. Concerning malignant tumors, we identified four studies on the links between endometriosis and ovarian cancer, one on breast cancer, two on endometrial cancer, one on colorectal cancer, and one on other malignancies, as well as one on associations between endometriosis and irritable bowel syndrome, one on links with migraine headache, three on links with pelvic inflammatory diseases, four on links with infertility, four on links with obesity, four on links with chronic liver disease, four on links with rheumatoid arthritis, four on links with chronic renal disease, five on links with diabetes mellitus, and five on links with cardiovascular diseases (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, etc.). The data available to date support that women with endometriosis might be at risk of some chronic illnesses and certain malignancies, although we consider the evidence for some comorbidities to be of low quality, for example, the association between colon cancer and adenomyosis/endometriosis. We still believe that the risk of comorbidity might be higher in women with endometriosis than that we supposed before. More research is needed to determine whether women with endometriosis are really at risk of these comorbidities

The development of machine tool is toward high-speed, high-precision and smarter with high-end compensation techniques. The sensor and the data acquiring system are required in compensation system. However, the aliasing phenomenon can be observed in the existing data acquiring system in machine tool application. In this paper, one solution is proposed to overcome signal aliasing. The phenomenon which appears in spindle thermal growth compensation system is carried, and the improved system. is validated

Applying Check-in Data and User Profiles to Identify Optimal Store Locations in a Road Network

    No full text
Spatial information analysis has gained increasing attention in recent years due to its wide range of applications, from disaster prevention and human behavioral patterns to commercial value. This study proposes a novel application to help businesses identify optimal locations for new stores. Optimal store locations are close to other stores with similar customer groups. However, they are also a suitable distance from stores that might represent competition. The style of a new store also exerts a significant effect. In this paper, we utilized check-in data and user profiles from location-based social networks to calculate the degree of influence of each store in a road network on the query user to identify optimal new store locations. As calculating the degree of influence of every store in a road network is time-consuming, we added two accelerating algorithms to the proposed baseline. The experiment results verified the validity of the proposed approach

Study of Motorized Spindle Reliability Monitoring

This paper proposes an intelligent monitoring system to adapt motorized high speed spindle on machine tools to meet the requirement of Industries 4.0, based on the techniques of power electronic engineering, mechatronics and reliability engineering. In this paper, a force-sensor-integrated spindle is proposed to monitor the bearing stress during operation. The implementation of charge amplifier and mechanical design are described as well. As a result, raw data is transmitted through a filter to create fruitful information and allow the remote monitoring system to operate effectively. The information supports predictive maintenance plans and improves the quality of after-sales service

AbstractObjectiveThis study was conducted to determine if differences in clinical characteristics, embryonic development, and pregnancy outcomes exist between infertile foreign and native brides undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatment in a foreign-bride-immigrating country of Taiwan.Material and MethodsA retrospective, case-control design was use to recruit consecutive infertile women seeking ART treatment for study. The treatment protocol consisted of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation with down-regulation and gonadotropin and ART method with conventional in vitro fertilization or intracytoplasmic sperm injection. Among the 1083 ART treatment cycles, 97 (9%) were from foreign brides and 986 (91%) from native brides. Records of those who received transfer of fresh embryos obtained by using husband sperm for fertilization were collected for analysis. A case-control design with adjustment of bride age was used to select the records of 86 infertile foreign and 172 native brides for the study. Infertility cause, bride age, retrieved oocyte number and maturity, fertilization rate, embryo score, and post-embryo transfer results were assessed.ResultsThe foreign bride couples had significantly greater infertility due to tubal (36%) and combination (8.1%) factors than native bride couples (20.3% and 4.1%, respectively). Days of gonadotropin stimulation, number of oocytes retrieved, fertilization rate, embryo score, implantation rate, or clinical pregnancy rate, and live birth rate did not differ between the two groups.ConclusionThe cause of infertile foreign bride couples requiring ART treatment had a higher percentage of tubal and combination factors, but similar ART outcomes
