CORRELATION BETWEEN WATER QUALITY AND Chl.a OF PHYTOPLANKTON AND THE COUNTERMEASURES FOR INHIBITING ALGAL GROWTH IN WEST LAKE, HANGZHOU

On the basis of the analysis of chlorophyll-a and physicochemical factors in the water of West Lake, the results show that algal growth in Lake Beili, Lake Yue, Lake Xili and Lake Wai is affected mainly by water temperature, and is not limited by the high concentrations of N and P in the water. The water quality in L.Xiaonan is better than that in other lake areas, because it lies at the diversion entrance and is directly influenced by drawing water from Qiantang River. Studies on biological control experiments suggested that a reasonable and coordinated ecological system would be more beneficial to the water quality than the other countermeasures.Article信州大学理学部附属諏訪臨湖実験所報告 11: 29-34(1999)departmental bulletin pape

In China, at the beginning of the 21st century, conceptual planning became a popular type of strategic planning. However, it tended to address issues more relevant to development opportunities, industrial structures and spatial layouts, rather than the ideas of environment and ecology. Instead, Tongji University’s conceptual planning for the West Lake in Hangzhou, proposed in 2001, focused on the restoration of water environments. It regarded environmental improvement as a precondition for further development of tourism and the economy. Although this plan did not win the bid at the time, the lake’s ecological restoration from then onward incorporated all of its proposed concepts. As a result, the lake’s ecosystem has been restored successfully. This paper introduces the plan, discusses its main ideas and contextually reflects upon the implementation of conceptual ecological planning. In addition to the need to be connected to development actions or statutory planning, relying on adequate multidisciplinary technical support and rationally addressing local development contributes to best practices for ecological conceptual planning

Aurantii fructus (AF) is a traditional Chinese medicine that has been used to improve gastrointestinal motility disorders for over a thousand years, but there is no exhaustive identification of the basic chemical components and comprehensive quality control of this herb. In this study, high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time of flight mass spectrometry (HPLC-Q-TOF-MS) and gas chromatography coupled mass spectrometry (GC-MS) were employed to identify the basic chemical compounds, and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was developed to determine the major biochemical markers from AF extract. There were 104 compounds belonging to eight structure types, including 13 amino acids or peptides, seven alkaloids, 18 flavanones, 14 flavones, 15 polymethoxyflavonoids, six triterpenoids, nine coumarins, and 18 volatile oils, as well as four other compounds that were systematically identified as the basic components from AF, and among them, 41 compounds were reported for the first time. Twelve bioactive ingredients were chosen as the benchmark markers to evaluate the quality of AF. The analysis was completed with a gradient elution at a flow rate of 0.7 mL/min within 55 min. This efficient method was validated showing good linearity, precision, stability, repeatability and recovery. Furthermore, the method was successfully applied to the simultaneous determination of 12 chemical markers in different samples of AF. This study could be applied to the identification of multiple bioactive substances and improve the quality control of AF

Error Resilient Multipath Video Delivery on Wireless Overlay Networks

    Get PDF
Real time applications delivering multimedia data over wireless networks still pose many challenges due to high throughput and stringent delay requirements. Overlay networks with multipath transmission is the promising solution to address the above problems. But in wireless networks the maintenance of overlay networks induce additional overheads affecting the bulky and delay sensitive delivery of multimedia data. To minimize the overheads, this work introduces the Error Compensated Data Distribution Model (ECDD) that aids in reducing end to end delays and overheads arising from packet retransmissions. The ECDD adopts mTreebone algorithm to identify the unstable wireless nodes and construct overlay tree. The overlay tree is further split to support multipath transmissions. A sub packetization mechanism is adopted for multipath video data delivery in the ECDD. A forward error correction mechanism and sub-packet retransmission techniques adopted in ECDD enables to reduce the overhead and end to end delay. The simulation results presented in this paper prove that the ECDD model proposed achieves lower end to end delay and outperforms the existing models in place. Retransmission requests are minimized by about 52.27% and bit errors are reduced by about 23.93% than Sub-Packet based Multipath Load Distribution

Search for top quark decays t → qH, with H → γγ, in s=13 TeV pp collisions using the ATLAS detector

    Get PDF
This article presents a search for flavour-changing neutral currents in the decay of a top quark into an up-type (q = c, u) quark and a Higgs boson, where the Higgs boson decays into two photons. The proton-proton collision data set analysed amounts to 36.1 fb−1 at s=13 TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. Top quark pair events are searched for, where one top quark decays into qH and the other decays into bW . Both the hadronic and leptonic decay modes of the W boson are used. No significant excess is observed and an upper limit is set on the t → cH branching ratio of 2.2 × 10−3 at the 95% confidence level, while the expected limit in the absence of signal is 1.6 × 10−3. The corresponding limit on the tcH coupling is 0.090 at the 95% confidence level. The observed upper limit on the t → uH branching ratio is 2.4 × 10−3
