Globe: All Ireland Programme for Immigrant Parents: Final Evaluation Report

In 2007, the Child and Family Research Centre, NUI Galway, was commissioned by the PMC to evaluate Globe: All Ireland Programme for Immigrant Parents. From 2007 - 2009 a number of interim evaluation reports were submitted to the PMC on the development phase of the project and its resources. In 2009, following the extension of the project, the objectives of the evaluation were revised. These objectives, which underpin this final evaluation report, are as follows:Examine and assess the pilot phase;Examine and assess the uptake and use of the Information Packs by parents and practitioners;Examine and assess the partnership working and development on a multi-sectoral and crossborder basis of the PMC, and more generally in meeting the needs of immigrant parents;Examine and assess the mainstreaming of learning and good practice; andExamine and assess the training/awareness raising and support of practitioners in delivering the programme

A formative evaluation of Jobstown Alternative Response Model.

Following an introductory chapter, Chapter 2 provides the context and rationale for the ARM, by outlining the policy and legislative context, the theoretical context, the local context and the ARM model as applied in Jobstown. Chapter 3 presents the findings on the stakeholders‘ perspectives of the Jobstown ARM. Chapter 4 offers a discussion of the findings in light of the theory discussed in Chapter 2, while Chapter 5 provides a set of conclusions and recommendations. • The differential response model (DRM), also known as the alternative response model (ARM), could be viewed as a specific attempt to reconcile the inherent tensions between child protection and family support. • The DRM/ARM ensures low- and moderate-risk cases are provided with a comprehensive family assessment and are offered timely services without a formal determination or substantiation of child abuse or neglect; only high-risk cases receive the traditional investigative response. • The DRM/ARM can be viewed as a step towards a closer relationship between the statutory-based social work resources and the non-government sector, as well as providing more comprehensive outcomes-focused provision. The Jobstown ARM arose in the context of the work plan of SDCSC. Key local managers attended a seminar held by the Children‘s Act Advisory Board on the differential response model in 2008. A study visit to the New Beginnings Project in Foyle Trust in Derry also took place. An inter-agency committee was brought together, and a model was developed that sought to capitalise on the strengths of the differential response model as well as operationalising the Agenda for Children‘s Services

Evaluation of the Restorative Practices Programme of the Childhood Development Initiative

This report presents the key findings of an independent evaluation, undertaken by the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre at the National University of Ireland, Galway, of the Restorative Practice Programme, part of the Childhood Development Initiative's (CDI) Community Safety Initiative (CSI). The study comprises (i) a process study evaluation of programme implementation under the headings of programme utilisation, programme organisation and programme fidelity; and (ii) an outcomes study evaluation of programme impact on participants' work, lives, organisations and family, and also the wider impact on community building and collaborative action

Proceedings of the Near-Earth-Object Interception Workshop

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Headquarters sponsored the Near-Earth-Object Interception Workshop hosted by the Los Alamos National Laboratory on 14-16 Jan. 1992 at the J. Robert Oppenheimer Study Center in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The Workshop evaluated the issues involved in intercepting celestial objects that could hit the Earth. It covered the technologies for acquiring, tracking, and homing, as well as those for sending interceptors to inspect, rendezvous with, land on, irradiate, deflect, or destroy them.
