Si(111) strained layers on Ge(111): evidence for c(2x4) domains
The tensile strained Si(111) layers grown on top of Ge(111) substrates are
studied by combining scanning tunneling microscopy, low energy electron
diffraction and first-principles calculations. It is shown that the layers
exhibit c(2x4) domains, which are separated by domain walls along
directions. A model structure for the c(2x4) domains is proposed, which shows
low formation energy and good agreement with the experimental data. The results
of our calculations suggest that Ge atoms are likely to replace Si atoms with
dangling bonds on the surface (rest-atoms and adatoms), thus significantly
lowering the surface energy and inducing the formation of domain walls. The
experiments and calculations demonstrate that when surface strain changes from
compressive to tensile, the (111) reconstruction converts from
dimer-adatom-stacking fault-based to adatom-based structures

Interoperability between information systems concerning electronic records of patients
The problematic over the interoperation between institutions in underdeveloped countries always presents good opportunities for science to contribute to substantial improvements in the real-world issues. The basic support systems such as the health institutions are among the ones that can most benefit from scientific advances. This paper reports an analysis done over the interoperability between health institutions, specifically regarding the interaction between medical centres and clinical laboratories where the main interoperability instrument is the patient record. This research was validated with a real practical use case that is presented in this paper. In order to make the information stored in different software applications of the national health system (SIS), more specifically in the Dr. Ayres de Menezes hospital, in the country of São Tomé and PrÃncipe, interoperable with the information systems of the clinical laboratories that support the hospital, two different applications were developed (Patient Management System and Clinical Analysis Laboratory Management System) to implement the interoperability between them. The Patient Management application requests medical exams from your Medical Appointment dashboard. The second application receives the exam request and after exams are processed and validated, the second system sends the result to the requesting application.
To make the interoperability service effective, the SOAP protocol was used, which allowed the exchange of information synchronously between these two applications, allowing for faster transactions of patients' pathological data, and greater confidentiality of this same information.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio

Inducing energy gaps in graphene monolayer and bilayer
In this paper we propose a mechanism for the induction of energy gaps in the
spectrum of graphene and its bilayer, when both these materials are covered
with water and ammonia molecules. The energy gaps obtained are within the range
20-30 meV, values compatible to those found in experimental studies of graphene
bilayer. We further show that the binding energies are large enough for the
adsorption of the molecules to be maintained even at room temperature
