Machine vision based height measuring system

    Get PDF
This paper presents a machine vision based height measuring system. The system will measure the height of a product based on the input from a webcam. The input image from the webcam will then be processed using image processing and then calculated to give the height of the product. In the market, there are many products that need to be measured whether the length or the height. These products also have different size and shape. There are several problems when using manual method for measuring such as man power will be needed at the station, longer time needed for measuring the product and the measurement may not be so accurate. This system aims to reduce these problems by developing a measuring system based on vision system

nowadays, fingers movement and hand gestures can be used as main activities in translating by naturally and convenient way to the human computer interaction. The purpose of this paper is to analyze in depth the thumb, index and middle fingers on the hand grasping movement against an object. The classification of the fingers activities is analyzed using the statistical analysis method. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is one of the methods that able to reduce the dimensional dataset of hand motion as well as measure the capacity of the fingers movement. The fingers movement is estimated from the bending representative of proximal and intermediate phalanges of thumb, index and middle fingers. The effectiveness of the propose assessment analysis were shown through the experiments of three fingers motions.Preliminary results of this experiment showed that the use of the first and second principal components can allow distinguishing between three fingers grasping movements

AbstractIn this paper the development of a new low cost dataglove based on fingertip bending tracking techniques for measuring the fingers bending on various virtual interaction activities is presented as an alternative to the rehabilitation services enhancement in the betterment of the quality of life especially for the disabled person. The purpose of the research is to design a flexible control for measurement study of virtual interaction of index and middle fingers that are important in a variety of contexts as well as the deterministic approach. These analyses of fingers flexing of the system were using the flexible bend sensor functioning as a key intermediate of the process to track the fingertip positions and orientations. The main propose of the low cost dataglove is to provide natural input control of interaction in virtual, multimodal and tele-presence environments as an input devices provide as they can monitor the dexterity and flexibility characteristics of the human hand motion. Preliminary experimental results have shown that the dataglove capable to measure several human Degree of Freedom (DoF), “translating” them into commands for the interaction in the virtual world

Nowadays the classification of fingers movement could be used to classify or categorize many kinds of human finger motions including the classification of sign language for verbal communication.Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is one of classical method that capable to be verity the finger motions for various alphabets by reducing the dimensional dataset of finger movements. The objective of this paper is to analyze the human finger motions / movements between thumbs, index and middle fingers while bending the fingers using PCA-BMU based techniques. The used of low cost DataGlove “GloveMAP” which is based on fingers adapted postural movement (or EigenFingers) of the principal component was applied in order to translate the finger bending to the sign language alphabets. Preliminary experimental results have shown that the “GloveMAP” DataGlove capable to measure several human Degree of Freedom (DoF), by “translating” them into a virtual commands for the interaction in the virtual world

The management of myocardial injury related to SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia

    Get PDF
The global evolution of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is known to all. The diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia is expected to worsen, and mortality will be higher when combined with myocardial injury (MI). The combination of novel coronavirus infections in patients with MI can cause confusion in diagnosis and assessment, with each condition exacerbating the other, and increasing the complexity and difficulty of treatment. It would be a formidable challenge for clinical practice to deal with this situation. Therefore, this review aims to gather literature on the progress in managing MI related to SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia. This article reviews the definition, pathogenesis, clinical evaluation, management, and treatment plan for MI related to SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia based on the most recent literature, diagnosis, and treatment trial reports. Many studies have shown that early diagnosis and implementation of targeted treatment measures according to the different stages of disease can reduce the mortality rate among patients with MI related to SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia. The reviewed studies show that multiple strategies have been adopted for the management of MI related to COVID-19. Clinicians should closely monitor SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia patients with MI, as their condition can rapidly deteriorate and progress to heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, and/or cardiogenic shock. In addition, appropriate measures need to be implemented in the diagnosis and treatment to provide reasonable care to the patient

Study of alcohol fuel of butanol and ethanol effect on the compression ignition (CI) engine performance, combustion and emission characteristic

Diesel engine which is one of the larger contributors to total consumption for petroleum is an attractive power unit used widely in many fields. However, diesel engines are among the main contributors to air pollutions for the large amount of emissions, such as CO, CO2 and NOx lead to an adverse effect on human health. Many researches have been done to find alternative fuels that are clean and efficient. Biodiesel is preferred as an alternative source for diesel engine which produces lower emission of pollutants. This study has focused on the evaluation of diesel and alcohol-diesel fuel properties and also the performance, combustion and exhaust emission from diesel engine fuelled with diesel and alcohol. Butanol and ethanol is blend with diesel fuel at 1:9 ratio. There are three test fuel that is tested which Diesel (100% diesel), D90BU10 (10% Butanol and 90% diesel) and D90E10 (10% Ethanol and 90% diesel). The comparison between diesel and alcohol-diesel blend has been made in terms of fuel properties characterization, engine performance such as brake power (BP) and brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) also the in cylinder maximum pressure characteristic. Thus, exhaust gas emission of CO, CO2, NOx and O2 emission also has been observed at constant load of 50% but in different operating engine speed (1100 rpm, 1400 rpm, 1700 rpm, 2000 rpm and 2300 rpm). The results show the addition of 10% of each butanol and ethanol to diesel fuel had decreased the fuel density about 0.3% to 0.5% compared to mineral diesel. In addition, viscosity and energy content are also decrease. The addition of 10% butanol had improved the fuel cetane number however the ethanol blends react differently. In term of engine performance, as the engine speed increased, BP output also increase respectively. Hence, the alcohol blends fuel generates lower BP compared to diesel, plus BSFC for all test fuel shows decreasing trend at low and medium speed, however increased gradually at higher engine speed. Thus, D90BU10 had higher BSFC compared to mineral diesel and D90E10. In general, the addition of alcohol blend in diesel fuel had increase the BSFC. In term of in cylinder pressure, as the engine speed is increased, the crank angle noted to move away from TDC for all test fuel. The maximum cylinder pressure increased at low and medium speed, but decrease in higher engine speed. The addition of 10% of butanol and ethanol in the mineral diesel decreased the maximum cylinder pressure. Meanwhile, O2 emission of D90E10 is higher compared to D90BU10 due to higher oxygen content found in ethanol. The CO2 emission of D90BU10 recorded higher compared to mineral diesel due to the high oxygen contents in the alcohol. CO emission of alcohol blend on the other hand had lower emission at higher engine speed compared to mineral diesel. As engine speed is increased, NOx emission of mineral diesel and D90E10 had decreased gradually. However, D90BU10 had increased of NOx emission at lower to medium engine speed, than gradually decreased at higher engine speed
