Scaling behavior of a one-dimensional correlated disordered electronic System
A one-dimensional diagonal tight binding electronic system with correlated
disorder is investigated. The correlation of the random potential is
exponentially decaying with distance and its correlation length diverges as the
concentration of "wrong sign" approaches to 1 or 0. The correlated random
number sequence can be generated easily with a binary sequence similar to that
of a one-dimensional spin glass system. The localization length (LL) and the
integrated density of states (IDOS) for long chains are computed. A comparison
with numerical results is made with the recently developed scaling technique
results. The Coherent Potential Approximation (CPA) is also adopted to obtain
scaling functions for both the LL and the IDOS. We confirmed that the scaling
functions show a crossover near the band edge and establish their relation to
the concentration. For concentrations near to 0 or 1 (longer correlation length
case), the scaling behavior is followed only for a very limited range of the
potential strengths.Comment: will appear in PR
Anomalous dynamics in two- and three- dimensional Heisenberg-Mattis spin glasses
We investigate the spectral and localization properties of unmagnetized
Heisenberg-Mattis spin glasses, in space dimensionalities and 3, at T=0.
We use numerical transfer-matrix methods combined with finite-size scaling to
calculate Lyapunov exponents, and eigenvalue-counting theorems, coupled with
Gaussian elimination algorithms, to evaluate densities of states. In we
find that all states are localized, with the localization length diverging as
, as energy . Logarithmic corrections to density of
states behave in accordance with theoretical predictions. In the
density-of-states dependence on energy is the same as for spin waves in pure
antiferromagnets, again in agreement with theoretical predictions, though the
corresponding amplitudes differ.Comment: RevTeX4, 9 pages, 9 .eps figure
A taxonomic review of the species of the genus Amara Bonelli (Coleoptera: Carabidae: Pterostichinae) from south-central Turkey
The twelve species and subspecies of the pterostichine genus Amara Bonelli living in the study area represent about 22% of the Turkish species of this genus. This study is based on material collected primarily in the province of Kahramanmara, but also in the surrounding provinces of Adana,Adýyaman, Gaziantep, Kayseri, and Malatya, situated in south-central Turkey, in the Taurus Mountains, and mostly within the Taurus refugium. The taxa are characterized by: keys; description of structural features; and photographs of habitus (male and female), and of male genitalia. For each species, thelocalities (many of them new), coordinates, altitudes of collection, its distribution in Turkey, and its chorotype were also given
INVESTIGATION OF TEACHER SCIENCE DISCIPLINE SELF-CONFIDENCE ABOUT THEIR TECHNOLOGICAL PEDAGOGICAL CONTENT KNOWLEDGE (TPACK)
The aim of this study is to determine about the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) self confidence level of physics, chemistry, biology and science teachers and to analyze if the level of selfâconfidence changes according to gender, joining to a technological education before, branch, education level, worked institution and service period. Scanning method is used for the research. Working group of this research consists of 87 teachers from different institutions and branches. For data collection, âTechnological Pedagogical Content Knowledge SelfâConfidence Scale (TPACKSC), which is adapted to Turkish from original scale by Graham, Burgoyne, Cantrell, Smith & Harris (2009) and tested for validity and reliability by Timur & Yasar (2011), is preferred. As a result of the study, it is stated that teachersâ TPACK level is very high. On the other hand, it is seen that self-confidence level of teachers joined to research does not have a statically logical (p>0.05) difference according to their sex, worked institution, joining to a technological education before and they have a statistical logical (p<0.05) difference related with the branch, service period and education level. Article visualizations
TEACHER CANDIDATESâ ETHICAL APPROACHES RELATED TO ANIMAL EXPERIMENT
This research was carried out to determine about the preferences and point of view of teacher candidates ethical approaches related to animal experiment. Obesity disease, cancer disease, cosmetics industry, product tests created the sub subjects of scenarios with dilemmas. The research was carried out in 2015-2016 academic year with 322 teacher candidates. As a data collection tool, âBioethical Value Inventoryâ and âDemographic Information Formâ developed by the researcher were used. Preferences of teacher candidates on scenarios are examined by using research variables such as, family education level, grade level and family income level. As a result of analysis of the research, it was determined that general decisions and ethical preferences of teacher candidates can show differences according to class grade, family education levels and income levels. It became clear that only product tests themed scenarios did not show any difference. Article visualizations
Thermodynamic Properties of Weakly Anisotropic Disordered Magnetic Chains in the Large-S Limit
we investigate the thermodynamic properties of weakly anisotropic disordered
magnetic chains where the nearest-neighbor Heisenberg exchange coupling is the
dominant spin-spin interaction. In addition to the exchange interaction, there
is single-ion anisotropy with the direction of the easy axis being the same for
all spins. The analysis is carried out in the limit S >> 1, where S denotes the
ionic spin, and in the temperature range T << JaveS, where Jave is the average
magnitude of the exchange interaction. It is assumed that the independent boson
picture is appropriate so that the thermodynamic properties of the chain are
those of a gas of weakly interacting magnons whose frequencies are obtained
from linearized equations of motion for the spins. The =+/-J model is studied
in detail with both random and non-random anisotropy. Particular emphasis is
placed on the existenceComment: 15 pages, pdf forma
