Podwyższenie progu stymulacji u chorego z implantowanym układem stymulującym AAI w przebiegu ogólnoustrojowego zakażenia
W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono przypadek 72-letniego mężczyzny z wszczepionym rozrusznikiem
typu AAI oraz znacznym zwiekszeniem wartości progu stymulacji ponad 4 lata po zabiegu
implantacji. Obserwowano zalezność między narastaniem progu stymulacji i ogólnoustrojowym
zakażeniem. W miarę pogarszania się stanu ogólnego pacjenta w przebiegu urosepsy odnotowano stopniowe narastanie, a następnie niemierzalne wartości progu stymulacji
w kanale przedsionkowym. Po zastosowaniu skutecznej terapii wartości progu stymulacji
obniżyły się. (Folia Cardiol. 2004; 11: 619–623

Developing the Silver Economy and Related Government Resources for Seniors: A Position Paper
The precarious rights of senior citizens, especially those who are highly educated and who are expected to counsel and guide the younger generations, has stimulated the creation internationally of advocacy associations and opinion leader groups. The strength of these groups, however, varies from country to country. In some countries, they are supported and are the focus of intense interest; in others, they are practically ignored. For this is reason we believe that the creation of a network of all these associations is essential. The proposed network would act as a support for the already-existing policies of the United Nations' High Commission for Human Rights, of independent experts, and of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Older People. All three have long ago recommended the creation of a recognized instrument for uniting presently scattered efforts. The proposed network, therefore, will seek to promote the international exchange of relevant expertise, and it will reinforce the commitments and actions that single countries are currently taking to meet these objectives. For example, informative public events can be organised to promote particular support initiatives and to provide an opportunity for new members of the network to be presented. The network will promote health for senior citizens, disease prevention, senior mobility, safe free time for seniors, alimentary education, protection against new risks and dangers, as well as equity in the services necessary for seniors to adopt new information and communication technologies. In the case of retired academic members, the network will promote equality with respect to continuing use of digital technologies (particularly email), continuing access to research libraries, and the guaranteed ability for seniors to fund their own research programs and to deliver free seminars

Komplementarność działań rodziny i społeczeństwa w wychowaniu
Upbringing is not merely a mix of activities on the part of the family and social institutions. Schools as well as different social organisations (especially youth ones) or church institutions responsible for upbringing activities are obliged to respect the Charter of the Rights of the Family. According to his document the family is the first and prior community of upbringing. Proper effects can be obtained only when certain conditions and rules of cooperation concerning all the entities engaged in the process of upbringing are implemented. It is worthwhile to discuss these rules and seek new ways of putting them into actionWychowanie nie jest prostą sumą działań rodziny i instytucji społecznych.
Comparative Analysis of Textile and Clothing Industries and Foreign Trade in Textile-Clothing Products of Poland, GDR, Czechoslovakia and Hungary
This work constitutes an initial part of reaearches aimed at
determination of possibilities in field of consolidation of co-operation between Poland, Czechoslovakia, the GDR and Hungary encompassing production of textile and clothing articles and trade in them.
The main objective of this part of researches is to determine
the present state in textile-clothing industries of the countries
under survey and of foreign trade in products turned out by these
industries on the basis of available information, comparative analysis. There were analyzed such problems as:
- productive factors remaining at disposal of analyzed industries
in four countries including especially fixed assets, raw material and
labour resources,
- production in industries under survey - its dynamics, role of
improved labour productivity and increased employment in production
growth, volume and structure of production, size of production in
more important products,
- effectiveness ratios in analyzed industries (productivity of
fixed assets, ratios between productivity and capital intensity,
assessment of the synthetic coefficient of effectiveness ,
- foreign trade - volume of import of textile raw materiale to the four countries, place held by Poland, Czechoslovakia, the GDR
and Hungry in the world export and import of textile and clothing
products, commodity and geographical structure of trade, level and
dynamics of trade, mutual turnover, trade restrictions.
Tables and comparative data presented in the work contain huge
statistical material illustrating conclusions contained in its final
part
Application of the TEVA-SPOT in designing the monitoring of water networks
TEVA-SPOT software was released in 2008 as a freeware dedicated to water and sewer utilities. It enables modelling of various of measurement points, and built-in tools to conduct more in-depth examinations. This paper presents selected possibilities this program grants in the context of emergencies, terrorist attacks or if it is used as an early warning system. It had gone through a hands-on examination and its results-advantages, difficulties and limitations have as well been described here
Optimization of the process of restoring the continuity of the WDS based on the matrix and genetic algorithm approach
The article discusses an example of the use of graph search algorithms with trace of water analysis and aggregation of failures in the occurrence of a large number of failures in the Water Supply System (WSS). In the event of a catastrophic situation, based on the Water Distribution System (WDS) network model, information about detected failures, the condition and location of valves, the number of repair teams, criticality analysis, the coefficient of prioritization of individual network elements, and selected objective function, the algorithm proposes the order of repairing the failures should be analyzed. The approach proposed by the authors of the article assumes the selection of the following objective function: minimizing the time of lack of access to drinking water (with or without prioritization) and minimizing failure repair time (with or without failure aggregation). The algorithm was tested on three different water networks (small, medium, and large numbers of nodes) and three different scenarios (different numbers of failures and valves in the water network) for each selected water network. The results were compared to a valve designation approach for closure using an adjacency matrix and a Strategic Valve Management Model (SVMM)
