A novel knowledge discovery based approach for supplier risk scoring with application in the HVAC industry
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University LondonThis research has led to a novel methodology for assessment and quantification of supply risks in the supply chain. The research has built on advanced Knowledge Discovery techniques and has resulted to a software implementation to be able to do so. The methodology developed and presented here resembles the well-known consumer credit scoring methods as it leads to a similar metric, or score, for assessing a supplier’s reliability and risk of conducting business with that supplier. However, the focus is on a wide range of operational metrics rather than just financial, which credit scoring techniques typically focus on.
The core of the methodology comprises the application of Knowledge Discovery techniques to extract the likelihood of possible risks from within a range of available datasets. In combination with cross-impact analysis, those datasets are examined for establish the inter-relationships and mutual connections among several factors that are likely contribute to risks associated with particular suppliers. This approach is called conjugation analysis. The resulting parameters become the inputs into a logistic regression which leads to a risk scoring model the outcome of the process is the standardized risk score which is analogous to the well-known consumer risk scoring model, better known as FICO score.
The proposed methodology has been applied to an Air Conditioning manufacturing company. Two models have been developed. The first identifies the supply risks based on the data about purchase orders and selected risk factors. With this model the likelihoods of delivery failures, quality failures and cost failures are obtained. The second model built on the first one but also used the actual data about the performance of supplier to identify risks of conducting business with particular suppliers. Its target was to provide quantitative measures of an individual supplier’s risk level.
The supplier risk scoring model is tested on the data acquired from the company for its performance analysis. The supplier risk scoring model achieved 86.2% accuracy, while the area under curve (AUC) was 0.863. The AUC curve is much higher than required model’s validity threshold value of 0.5. It represents developed model’s validity and reliability for future data. The numerical studies conducted with real-life datasets have demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed methodology and system as well as its future potential for industrial adoption
Dynamical implications of gluonic excitations in meson-meson systems
We study meson-meson interactions using an extended basis
that allows calculating coupling of an ordinary meson-meson system to a
hybrid-hybrid one. We use a potential model matrix in this extended basis which
at quark level is known to provide a good fit to numerical simulations of a
system in pure gluonic theory for static quarks in a selection
of geometries. We use a combination of resonating group method formalism and
Born approximation to include the quark motion using wave functions of a
potential within a cluster. This potential is taken to be quadratic
for ground states and has an additional smeared (Gaussian) for
the matrix elements between hybrid mesons. For the parameters of this
potential, we use values chosen to 1) minimize the error resulting from our use
of a quadratic potential and 2) best fit the lattice data for differences of
and configurations of the gluonic field between a quark
and an antiquark. At the quark (static) level, including the gluonic
excitations was noted to partially replace the need for introducing many-body
terms in a multi-quark potential. We study how successful such a replacement is
at the (dynamical) hadronic level of relevance to actual hard experiments. Thus
we study effects of both gluonic excitations and many-body terms on mesonic
transition amplitudes and the energy shifts resulting from the second order
perturbation theory (i.e. from the respective hadron loops). The study suggests
introducing both energy and orbital excitations in wave functions of scalar
mesons that are modelled as meson-meson molecules or are supposed to have a
meson-meson component in their wave functions.Comment: 26 pages, 10 figure
Kata Kunci: Server VoIP, Elastix, Softphone, QoS (Quality of Service

Theoretical Cost Analysis of Electrical Energy for an Off-grid Island Community Using a Single 10MW Wind Turbine and Lithium-Ion Batteries
In this paper theoretical cost analysis of a 10 MW wind turbine with lithium-ion batteries as storage for an Off-grid Island community is made. The Vestas V164-10.0 MW wind turbine is considered for calculations. Calculations are calculated using numerical computation, and figure data is collected using MATLAB software. The paper aims to give researchers and investors a rough idea about the economic outcomes of using Li-ion batteries as a storage system for wind turbines. The surplus energy needed to be stored is calculated, and then the cost of the system is calculated numerically, targeting the return on investment. If the return on investment of a system is lower than 8%, then investors do not invest in such a system. The return on investment in these calculations is about 17%

Conventional and Hybrid Mesons in an Extended Potential Model
Using our analytical expressions that well model the lattice simulations of
the gluonic excitations, we use the extended quark potential model to study the
effects of orbital and radial excitations on the masses and sizes of
conventional and hybrid mesons. A non relativistic formalism is used to
numerically calculate the wave functions using the shooting method; this allows
us also calculating the , radiative partial widths for conventional
meson to meson and hybrid to hybrid transitions. We incorporate spin mixing and
compare our calculated spectrum and decay widths with the available
experimental masses and the theoretically predicted spectra and the decay
widths by other groups. Our results can help consider both conventional and
hybrid quantum numbers to mesons as experimental results become
available.Comment: 15 pages, 11 Table
