The Supreme Tribunal decision dated March 26, 2014, declares the compensation established in article 49.1.c) of the Workers Statute regarding the termination of some temporary contracts compatible with the legal nature of the special working relationship of professional sportsmen/women governed by Royal Decree 1006/1985. It gives an extensive, detailed and systematic analysis of the legal regime for the special working relationship. However, according to the author, the inevitable temporary character of the special working relationship shows a perspective that the decision omits, which, if considered, would advise reviewing the doctrine in the decision and the non-applicability of compensation to the special working relationship.

The crisis of modernity is particularly evident in the educational systems of advanced societies. These societies project on school systems more paradoxes and contradictions than they can really cope with. In the face of the deep transformations that concepts such as globalization, information and consumer society, postmodernity or reflexive modernity appear to claim, schools are losing their ability to successfully transmit models of identity and citizenship. This article explores the crisis of the socialising function of educational systems, and in particular the decline of the emancipatory goals this function is aimed at in its bureaucratic, systemic and communicative dimensions. In this way, the traditional strategies of socialization in advanced societies loose pace, and a restructuring is required. This restructuring should be tackled by departing from an eligibility horizon which in turn should be articulated by an ethos of desire

New Frontiers and Relations between Religion, Culture and Politics in Western Europe

Sociology was born as a discipline that analyzed the process of modernization of Western European societies. However, in turn, this science was developing a predictive, prophetic vision of the future of human communities, assuming that they were all going to follow paths similar to those followed by Western Europeans. This prophetic dimension reduced the capacity of sociology to analyze new phenomena including, on the one hand, phenomena relating to other societies, on the one hand, but also, on the other hand, phenomena related to the transformations suffered by Western European societies after their process of modernization. This last case constitutes the objective of this work, in which I try to recover the purely analytical character of sociology. To this end, I intend to relate the general model of the political modernization of Western European societies elaborated by historical sociology to the theory of social differentiation, avoiding the evolutionary drift of this theory. From that position, I try to specify the analytical nature of some conceptual instruments of sociology, in order to make them more useful to understanding the contemporary social transformations of Western European societies. Some of these transformations have changed the tendency towards the cultural homogenization characteristic of modernization, because after the two world wars these societies began to receive strong flows of immigration

A review on recent developments in binder jetting metal additive manufacturing: materials and process characteristics

Binder Jetting Metal Additive Manufacturing (BJ-MAM), known also as metal 3D-printing, is a powder bed-based additive manufacturing technology. It consists of the deposition of liquid binder droplets to selectively join powder particles to enable the creation of near-net shaped parts, which subsequently are consolidated via sintering process. This technology is known for its capability to process a wide range of different materials and for its orientation towards large volume production series. Binder Jetting has recently been drawing the attention of both the research sphere as well as several industrial sectors. The present review study encompasses the various and most remarkable aspects of BJ-MAM part fabrication. The review covers the material selection and characterisation considerations, followed by the manufacturing process features and the parameter effect on different part properties. It concludes with an overview concerning the most recent case studies with regards to diverse metal alloy developments. This work has been done within the ADDISEND project supported by the ELKARTEK program of the Basque Government [KK-2018/00115]

Hard Metal Production by ERS: Processing Parameter Roles in Final Properties

Cemented carbide is a hard composite material, used widely in a variety of industries. The value of the global tungsten carbide market is expected to grow by 4.4% (compound annual growth rate) from 2017 to 2022. One of the main markets is in metal cutting and wear parts, where small pieces (or inserts), a few grams in weight, are used. Field-assisted sintering technique (FAST) technologies allow for the production of small blanks in a single step from powder, which are near final dimensions. Production cycles are very short. In this paper, one of the FAST processes, the ERS technology, is applied to obtain WC10Co parts. A review of the process variable effects on the final properties of the parts is accomplished. Final properties of a range of conventionally produced inserts are obtained, using 100 MPa compacting pressure, 80 MA/m2 of current density, and processing times of around 800 ms.This research was funded by EU, grant number FoF.NMP.2013-10 608729 (7th Framework Programme) EFFIPRO

Ti3SiC2-Cf composites by spark plasma sintering: Processing, microstructure and thermo-mechanical properties

MAX phases, and particularly Ti3SiC2, are interesting for high temperature applications. The addition of carbon fibers can be used to reduce the density and to modify the properties of the matrix. This work presents the densification and characterization of Ti3SiC2 based composites with short carbon fibers using a fast and simple fabrication approach: dry mixing and densification by Spark Plasma Sintering. Good densification level was obtained below 1400 °C even with a high amount of fibers. The reaction of the fibers with the matrix is limited thanks to the fast processing time and depends on the amount of fibers in the composite. Bending strength at room temperature, between 437 and 120 MPa, is in the range of conventional CMCs with short fibers and according to the resistance of the matrix and the presence of residual porosity. Thermo-mechanical properties of the composites up to 1500 °C are also presented. This work has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon2020 “Research and innovation programme” under grant agreement No 685594 (C3HARME
