    Effect of systemic oxytocin administration on new bone formation and distraction rate in rabbit mandible

    YÖK Tez ID: 609892Oral ve maksillofasiyal bölgede oluşan kemik deformitelerinin, konjenital anomalilerin ya da uzun süreli kemik rezorbsiyonuna bağlı kemik yetersizliklerinin düzeltilmesi amacı ile farklı cerrahi yöntemler kullanılmaktadır. Distraksiyon osteogenezisi, yumuşak ve kemik dokuda aşamalı bir doku artışına olanak sağlaması nedeni ile oral ve maksillofasiyal cerrahide tercih edilen bir yöntemdir. Daha önce yapılan bilimsel çalışmalarda, distraksiyon işlemi aşamasında distraktörün aktivasyon sınırı günlük 1mm olarak tanımlanmıştır. Distraksiyon işleminin günlük 1mm olması tedavinin uzamasına ve buna bağlı komplikasyonlara neden olmaktadır. Distraksiyonun hızının arttırılmasına yönelik pek çok çalışma yapılmaktadır. Tez çalışmamamızda amaç, yapılan son hayvan çalışmalarında kemik ve yumuşak dokularda kök hücre aktivasyonunu artırarak iyileşmeyi artırdığına dair bilgilerin mevcut olduğu oksitosin uygulamalarının, distraksiyon işlemi üzerine etkilerini incelemektir. Çalışma 28 adet erkek, Yeni Zelanda beyaz tavşanı üzerinde gerçekleştirildi. Hayvanlar 3 deney grubu ve 1 kontrol grubuna ayrıldı. A grubu, 1 mm / gün distraksiyon uygulanan hayvanlardan; Grup B, dağılma hızı 2 mm / gün olan hayvanlardan oluşuyordu. A ve B gruplarına Postoperatif salin enjeksiyonu yapıldı. C grubu, 1 mm / gün oranında distraksiyon uygulanan; Grup D, dağılma hızı 2 mm / gün olan hayvanlardan oluşuyordu. Postoperatif oksitosin enjeksiyonu C ve D gruplarına uygulandı. Hem histomorfometri, hem de mikro-BT verilerinin değerlendirilmesine dayanarak, sistemik OT uygulamasının Distraksiyon osteogenezisinde yeni kemik oluşumunu ve kemik iyileşmesini arttırdığı tespit edildi.Different surgical methods are used for the correction of bone deformities in the oral and maxillofacial region, bone defects due to congenital anomalies or prolonged bone resorption. Distraction osteogenesis is a preferred method in oral and maxillofacial surgery with the reason that it allows for a gradual increase of tissue in both soft and bone tissue. In previous scientific studies, the limit of activation of the distractor during distraction was defined as 1 mm per day. The distraction procedure is 1mm per day, which causes the prolongation of the treatment and its associated complications. Many studies have been carried out to increase the speed of the distraction. The aim of the thesis is to examine the effects of oxytocin applications on the distraction process, where information is available on recent animal studies to increase recovery by increasing stem cell activation in bone and soft tissues. The aim of this study is to compare clinical, radiologic and histopathologic results of systemic oxytocin application in rabbits. The experimental study was conducted on 28male, New Zealand white rabbits. The animals were divided into 3 experimental groups and 1 control group. Group A consisted of animals with distraction of 1 mm / day. Group B consisted of animals with a distraction rate of 2 mm / day. Groups A and B received postopreative saline injection. Group C consisted of animals with distraction at a rate of 1 mm / day. Group D consisted of animals with a distraction rate of 2 mm / day. Postopreative OT injection was performed in groups C and D.     Pediatric dog bite injuries of head and neck: An algorithm for the treatment of our clinic

    WOS: 000508580700010Background: Dog bite injuries are more frequent injuries than they are supposed to be in our country. Aims and Objectives: This study presents our pediatric dog bite injuries of head and neck and a simple algorithm of the treatment. Materials and Methods: A retrospective screening was done of the cases, and data was collected. Descriptive statistical analysis was done about age, sex, type of injury, time of injury, type of dog breed, and closure options. Results: A total of ten children were enrolled to the study. The mean age was 6.4 years, and most of the cases were preschool-aged children. Scalp was the most affected region at head and neck. Pit bull was the only known dog breed. The common time of the injuries was morning. Major injuries were more than minor ones, and they were closed with graft or flaps. Conclusion: We think that dog bite injuries are an important problem in our country. Therefore, further detailed multi-centered studies should be done
