    Sebahagian besar daripada nama suku di Negeri Sembilan merupakan nama sesuatu kawasan di Kabupaten 50 Kota. Berdasarkan pada fakta ini, seringkali dikatakan bahawa kata sapaan dialek Negeri Sembilan berasal dari daerah kabupaten tersebut. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti dan membandingkan bentuk kata sapaan di kedua-dua kawasan kajian ini. Kata sapaan yang dibandingkan ialah kata sapaan yang digunakan dalam majlis separa rasmi. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan kaedah semak dengan satu set teknik dasar dan teknik lanjut dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan kaedah padan pragmatis dan kaedah agih dengan satu set teknik dasar dan teknik lanjut. Kemudian, data dianalisis dengan teori sapaan yang dikemukakan oleh Ervin-Tripp (1972, 1976, 1986)). Dapatan daripada kajian ialah: bentuk kata sapaannya berbagai-bagai sesuai dengan kondisi sosial dan angkubah sosial daripada orang yang disapa; bentuk bahasa lain yang menyertainya selaras dengan bentuk kata sapaan; dan bentuk kata sapaan yang digunakan cenderung tidak memperlihatkan urutan unsur. Hasil daripada perbandingan diperoleh dapatan bahawa bentuk kata sapaan di kedua-dua kawasan kajian tidak hanya menunjukkan persamaan juga menunjukkan perbezaan

    Makalah ini berfokus pada ayat majmuk gabungan bahasa Melayu yang digunakan dalam pantun Melayu. Kajian ini berlandaskan teori Transformasi Generatif Standard yang diaplikasikan dalam Tatabahasa Dewan (2010). Dalam menerbitkan ayat majmuk pancangan berlaku proses-proses transformasi seperti pengguguran, peluasan, dan penyusunan semula. Analisis ayat dilakukan berdasarkan struktur dalaman dan permukaan dengan rajah pohon dan keterangan-keterangan yang berkaitan dalam bidang sintaksis. Dapatan analisis memperlihatkan pantun merupakan satu medium yang terbaik dalam menganalisis ayat-ayat bahasa Melayu kerana banyak perkataan digugurkan.     Kajian ini memberi tumpuan terhadap salah satu kategori lakuan bahasa yang diperkenalkan oleh Searle (1969), iaitu lakuan ekspresi. Lakuan ekspresi ialah ujaran-ujaran yang menunjukkan pernyataan psikologi yang memberi gambaran tentang sikap dan perasaan penutur. Analisis kajian ini dilakukan terhadap ujaran-ujaran yang terdapat dalam 40 artikel kritikan Tun Dr. Mahathir dalam isu 1MDB. Melalui kajian ini, sebanyak lima kategori telah dikenal pasti, iaitu lakuan pernyataan, lakuan kritikan, lakuan rujukan, lakuan arahan, dan lakuan ekspresi. Namun demikian, kajian ini hanya memberi tumpuan terhadap lakuan bahasa ekspresi. Analisis mendapati lakuan ekspresi menunjukkan bilangan ujaran paling sedikit berbanding dengan kategori lakuan bahasa yang lain, iaitu sebanyak 20 kekerapan. Lakuan pernyataan mencatatkan kekerapan tertinggi, dengan jumlah kekerapan sebanyak 1302 ujaran, diikuti oleh lakuan kritikan di tempat kedua dengan kekerapan sebanyak 828. Lakuan rujukan dan lakuan arahan masing-masing dengan kekerapan sebanyak 297 dan 128. Hal ini menunjukkan bahawa Tun Dr. Mahathir melakukan kritikan tanpa mengutamakan ekspresi perasaan atau emosi. Sebanyak tujuh sublakuan ekspresi yang ditemui, iaitu lakuan bimbang, hairan, ucapan selamat, kehendak, enggan, minta maaf, dan ucapan terima kasih. Hal ini merumuskan bahawa dalam kritikan, khususnya kritikan bertulis, Tun Dr. Mahathir tidak menunjukkan ekspresi emosi yang berlebihan

    Culinary tourism as a destination attraction : an empirical examination of destinations' food image.

    This article illustrates the food image of France, Italy, and Thailand, countries known for their popular cuisine. An online survey was conducted; the population consisted of members of online travel and food groups from Yahoo.com and MSN.com. A total of 294 individuals responded to the online survey. A series of multiple regressions were conducted to determine (a) the relationship between destinations' food image and travelers' visit intention, and (b) the relationship between information sources and travelers' purchase decisions. The results revealed that in general, Italy had the most favorable food image and the highest potential to be visited in the future. Significant positive relationships were found between food image and visit intentions. The study also confirmed that travelers' purchase decisions were significantly influenced by different types of information sources. Conclusions and implications were drawn based on the research findings. This information would be particularly useful for destinations interested in promoting culinary tourism

    Tourist behavioral loyalty: a comparison of first-time and repeat tourist in the UNESCO World Heritage Site (WHS) in Malaysia

    The present study aims to investigate the structural relationships among food involvement, food knowledge, food experience, food image, destination image, overall satisfaction and behavioral loyalty across first-time and repeat tourist groups from the perspective of food tourism. The study also examines if differences exist in these variables across the two groups of tourists. The „catch-as-catch-can‟ technique was used to sample international tourist in Melaka and George Town, Malaysia. A total of 1200 questionnaires were collected on-site and 75% of the total was randomly picked using SPSS, resulting in 868 responses analyzed. The two-step approach of structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to accomplish the study objectives. The t-test analysis demonstrated that repeat tourists expressed significantly higher food knowledge and behavioral loyalty than first-time tourists. The SEM results revealed that the structural model differed across first-time and repeat customers. This research contributes to the theoretical understanding of behavioral loyalty process across first-time and repeat tourists in the World Heritage Site (WHS) of Malaysia from the food perspective

    The globalization of Malaysia national cuisine: a concept of 'Gastrodiplomacy'

    Malaysia national cuisines are inherited through various generations and have been created through multiple evolutions and assimilations, in which formed very unique and delicious cuisines using various tropical ingredients. However, Malaysia national cuisine is still new to some of the global citizens. Therefore, food globalization is very important, because food globalization not only contributes to the trade industries but also contributes to other local industries such as tourism industries. A new term known as 'gastrodiplomacy' has been introduced recently to explains how countries used their national cuisines as a method to promote their countries, cultures, foods, attract foreign tourists and also build political relations. Malaysia also has rigorously applying gastrodiplomacy practices especially through the 'Malaysia Kitchen for the World' programme (MKP). Not only that, media such as documentary programmes and cooking competitions somehow contributes to the globalization of Malaysia national cuisine. Though the government and the citizens have taken various actions, there are still rooms for improvements to make the cuisines further known worldwide. Malaysia has been recognized as one of the best gastrodiplomacy practitioners in the world, and it is hoped that this article could be as a platform to share how Malaysia used this method to promote its national cuisines

    AbstractThis research explores issues on sustainability of Malaysian National Park (called Taman Negara), complied ecotourism approach with a balanced between economic development and preservation. With this approach, a holistic manner in managing the natural and cultural heritage of Taman Negara is expected. The objective of this paper is to relate various issues of heritage sustainability with environment-behavior. Unobtrusive observation and interviews with the locals are methods to identify the problems. Remote sensing images were taken to monitor land use changes. The expected outcome of the study is to generate a conceptual approach for developing sustainable Taman Negara as a tourist destination

    Continuous media (CM) data stream in flash-based solid state disk (SSD) storage server

    Solid State Disk (SSD), a type of NAND-flash memory semiconductor device becomes popular storage systems in various types of appliances. The surveys have brought out its essential demand for replacing the classical storage devices (e.g, Magnetic disk) in a multimedia streaming server such as a Video-On-Demand (VOD) server. The most important factor in providing an efficient server is the real-time playback experience by the users. However, the NAND-flash has three issues those related to the nature of its I/O accessing procedures. This paper studies the effectiveness of proper data layout in the SSD to overcome those issues in handling the VOD server real-time playback requirement. Data allocation acts as an engine that store or retrieve the continuous media (CM) data from the server and send to users at a proper rate, good quality and offer smooth VCR functions - pause, fast/slow rewind/forward. Two allocations those utilizing the rich parallelism stripping nature in SSD, namely; (i) Sequential, and (ii) Interleaving have been examined in this study. Both allocations intelligently organize the CM data using the residue class algorithm and the results from the simulation experiments shown both allocations have significant outcomes in terms of the access latency and the throughput
