Verslag van een studiereis naar de bijdrage van krachtvoergrondstoffen en grasproducten aan de eiwitvoorziening van biologische biggen
Competitive and suitable protein-rich organically-grown raw materials for piglets are scarce. Therefore, an inventory on this aspect was undertaken during a study trip to several countries. Processing of rape seed and sunflower seed seems to be most promising because of their high ratio of digestible methionine to digestible lysin
Hawking Radiation from Non-Extremal D1-D5 Black Hole via Anomalies
We take the method of anomaly cancellation for the derivation of Hawking
radiation initiated by Robinson and Wilczek, and apply it to the non-extremal
five-dimensional D1-D5 black hole in string theory. The fluxes of the electric
charge flow and the energy-momentum tensor from the black hole are obtained.
They are shown to match exactly with those of the two-dimensional black body
radiation at the Hawking temperature.Comment: 14 page
D--branes and Spinning Black Holes
We obtain a new class of spinning charged extremal black holes in five
dimensions, considered both as classical configurations and in the
Dirichlet(D)--brane representation. The degeneracy of states is computed from
the D--brane side and the entropy agrees perfectly with that obtained from the
black hole side.Comment: 10 pages, harvmac ``b'' mode (minor changes
Macroscopic and Microscopic Entropy of Near-Extremal Spinning Black Holes
A seven parameter family of five-dimensional black hole solutions depending
on mass, two angular momenta, three charges and the asymptotic value of a
scalar field is constructed. The entropy is computed as a function of these
parameters both from the Bekenstein-Hawking formula and from the degeneracies
of the corresponding D-brane states in string theory. The expressions agree at
and to leading order away from extremality.Comment: 7 pages, harvma
Greybody Factors and Charges in Kerr/CFT
We compute greybody factors for near extreme Kerr black holes in D=4 and D=5.
In D=4 we include four charges so that our solutions can be continuously
deformed to the BPS limit. In D=5 we include two independent angular momenta so
Left-Right symmetry is incorporated. We discuss the CFT interpretation of our
emission amplitudes, including the overall frequency dependence and the
dependence on all black hole parameters. We find that all additional parameters
can be incorporated Kerr/CFT, with central charge independent of U(1) charges.Comment: 27 pages. v2: typos fixed, references adde
String-Loop Corrected Magnetic Black Holes
We discuss the form of the string-loop-corrected effective action obtained by
compactification of the heterotic string theory on the manifold
or on its orbifold limit and the loop-corrected magnetic black hole solutions
of the equations of motion. Effective 4D theory has N=2 local supersymmetry.
Using the string-loop-corrected prepotential of the N=2 supersymmetric theory,
which receives corrections only from the string world sheets of torus topology,
we calculate the loop corrections to the tree-level gauge couplings and solve
the loop-corrected equations of motion. At the string-tree level, the effective
gauge couplings decrease at small distances from the origin, and in this region
string-loop corrections to the gauge couplings become important. A possibility
of smearing the singularity of the tree-level supersymmetric solution with
partially broken supersymmetry by quantum corrections is discussed.Comment: Improved version. Mixing of the dilaton with other moduli properly
taken into account. Explanatory notes adde
First Order Description of Black Holes in Moduli Space
We show that the second order field equations characterizing extremal
solutions for spherically symmetric, stationary black holes are in fact implied
by a system of first order equations given in terms of a prepotential W. This
confirms and generalizes the results in [14]. Moreover we prove that the
squared prepotential function shares the same properties of a c-function and
that it interpolates between M^2_{ADM} and M^2_{BR}, the parameter of the
near-horizon Bertotti-Robinson geometry. When the black holes are solutions of
extended supergravities we are able to find an explicit expression for the
prepotentials, valid at any radial distance from the horizon, which reproduces
all the attractors of the four dimensional N>2 theories. Far from the horizon,
however, for N-even our ansatz poses a constraint on one of the U-duality
invariants for the non-BPS solutions with Z \neq 0. We discuss a possible
extension of our considerations to the non extremal case.Comment: Some points clarified, a comment on the interpretation of the
prepotential W in terms of c-function added, typos corrected. Version to

The Delocalized Effective Degrees of Freedom of a Black Hole at Low Frequencies
Identifying the fundamental degrees of freedom of a black hole poses a
long-standing puzzle. In hep-th/0511133 Goldberger and Rothstein forwarded a
theory of the low frequency degrees of freedom within the effective field
theory approach, where they are relevancy-ordered but of unclear physical
origin. Here these degrees of freedom are identified with near-horizon but
non-compact gravitational perturbations which are decomposed into delocalized
multipoles. Their world-line (kinetic) action is determined within the
classical effective field theory (CLEFT) approach and their interactions are
discussed. The case of the long-wavelength scattering of a scalar wave off a
Schwarzschild black hole is treated in some detail, interpreting within the
CLEFT approach the equality of the leading absorption cross section with the
horizon area.Comment: 8 pages. Awarded fifth prize in the 2008 Gravity Research Foundation

Smooth geometries with four charges in four dimensions
A class of axially symmetric, rotating four-dimensional geometries carrying
D1, D5, KK monopole and momentum charges is constructed. The geometries are
found to be free of horizons and singulaties, and are candidates to be the
gravity duals of microstates of the (0,4) CFT. These geometries are constructed
by performing singularity analysis on a suitably chosen class of solutions of
six-dimensional minimal supergravity written over a Gibbons-Hawking base
metric. The properties of the solutions raise some interesting questions
regarding the CFT.Comment: 1+32 pages, LaTeX, v2: references added, typographical errors
