A two-dimensional soliton system of vortex and Q-ball
The (2 + 1)-dimensional gauge model describing two complex scalar fields that
interact through a common Abelian gauge field is considered. It is shown that
the model has a soliton solution that describes a system consisting of a vortex
and a Q-ball. This two-dimensional system is electrically neutral, nevertheless
it possesses a nonzero electric field. Moreover, the soliton system has a
quantized magnetic flux and a nonzero angular momentum. Properties of this
vortex-Q-ball system are investigated by analytical and numerical methods. It
is found that the system combines properties of topological and nontopological
solitons.Comment: 7 pages with 5 figure
On a construction of self-dual gauge fields in seven dimensions
We consider gauge fields associated with a semisimple Malcev algebra. We
construct a gauge-invariant Lagrangian and found a solution of modified
Yang-Mills equations in seven dimensions.Comment: 10 pages, LaTeX, no figure
Simulations of charge-breeding processes in ECRIS
Charge-breeding processes in Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Sources are
numerically simulated by using the target helium plasma parameters obtained
with NAM-ECRIS code. Breeding efficiency is obtained as a function of 1+ ion
injection energy for some alkali ion beams. Time dependencies of extracted ions
are calculated; typical times for reaching saturation in currents are in the
range of few tens of milliseconds. Role of charge-exchange processes in
breeding of ions is discussed. Recycling of ions on the source walls is shown
to be important
Incoherent pion photoproduction on the deuteron in the first resonance region
Incoherent pion photoproduction on the deuteron is studied in the first
resonance region. The unpolarized cross section, the beam asymmetry, and the
vector and tensor target asymmetries are calculated in the framework of a
diagrammatic approach. Pole diagrams and one-loop diagrams with scattering
in the final state are taken into account. An elementary operator for pion
photoproduction on the nucleon is taken in various on-shell forms and
calculated using the SAID and MAID multipole analyses. Model dependence of the
obtained results is discussed in some detail. A comparison with predictions of
other works is given. Although a reasonable description of many available
experimental data on the unpolarized total and differential cross sections and
photon asymmetry has been achieved, in some cases a significant disagreement
between the theory and experiment has been found. Invoking known information on
the reactions and we predict the total
photoabsorption cross section for deuterium. We find that our values strongly
overestimate experimental data in the vicinity of the peak.Comment: 22 pages, 23 figure
Incoherent pion photoproduction on the deuteron with polarization observables I: Formal expressions
Formal expressions are developed for the general five-fold differential cross
section of incoherent -photoproduction on the deuteron including beam and
target polarization. The polarization observables of the cross section are
described by various beam, target and beam-target asymmetries for polarized
photons and/or polarized deuterons. They are given as bilinear hermitean forms
in the reaction matrix elements divided by the unpolarized cross section. In
addition, the corresponding observables for the semi-exclusive reaction are also given.Comment: 11 pages, 1 figur
Dependence of effective spectrum width of synchrotron radiation on particle energy
For an exact quantitative description of spectral properties in the theory of
synchrotron radiation, the concept of effective spectral width is introduced.
In the classical theory, numeric calculations of effective spectral width
(using an effective width not exceeding 100 harmonics) for polarization
components of synchrotron radiation are carried out. The dependence of the
effective spectral width and initial harmonic on the energy of a radiating
particle is established
