Cancer cells that grow and metastasis out of control, invade surrounding tissues and organs, deteriorating the organsโ€™ function, and ultimately killing the patient. Because cancer is such a serious disease, there have been many research and trial to treat cancer for the past several decades, but, due to the rapid metastasis and responding to treatment of cancer, cancer still remains an incurable disease that is difficult to treat, and it is one of the top 10 causes of death in the world. One of the reasons, cancer is difficult to treat is that each cancer has different characteristics such as extracellular matrix, biomolecule concentration in cytoplasm, angiogenesis, and metastasis, and because of these difference characteristics, each cancer exhibits a different therapeutic response to the conventional cancer therapy. This characteristic of the cancer is called a tumor microenvironment. Because the tumor microenvironment is very important in cancer therapy, there have been a lot of researches to treat cancer by controlling the tumor microenvironment over the past decades. But the tumor microenvironment is regulated by complex signal pathway and many parts of this signal pathway are unknown, so it still remains an unsolved challenge. In these researches, for overcoming the limitation of cancer therapy in modern medicine, I synthesized dual component multi-functional nanoparticles that has excellent biocompatibility using various elements such as gold (Au), tellurium (Te), ruthenium (Ru), and bismuth (Bi). There materials can be used as a in vivo CT contrast reagent for tumor imaging, anti-cancer drug delivery carrier, photothermal/photodynamic therapeutic agent, and nanozyme for controlling tumor microenvironment, and exhibit excellent tumor suppression effect in various in vivo tumor models. First, I synthesized Ru-Te nanorods with nanozyme activity such as catalase, peroxidase, and superoxide dismutase, and used this novel material for hypoxic pancreatic cancer therapy. Ru-Te nanorod has absorbance in UV-Vis region wavelength and can be used as a photothermal and photodynamic therapeutic agent. Because of the nanozyme activity of the Ru-Te nanorods, the materials accumulated in the pancreatic cancer can control the tumor microenvironment by using hydrogen peroxide present at a high concentration in the cytoplasm of pancreatic cells, and can be used for cancer therapy. Second, I synthesized Bi-Te nanorods that can be used as photothermal/photodynamic therapeutic reagent and x-ray contrast reagent. Bi-Te nanorods can carry anti-cancer drug, doxorubicin, and effectively deliver this drug to target site by enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effects. Bi, coating materials of this rod, protected degradation of core part Te from biological condition, and because of this coating material, Bi, Bi-Te nanorod can be used as a computed tomography (CT) contrast reagent for in vivo tumor imaging. Third, I synthesis Au-Te nanoworm materials has large surface area, excellent gene drug (DNAzyme) loading capacity, and UV-Vis absorbance in broad range of wavelength. This material showed great biocompatibility, and can be used as photodynamic and photothermal therapeutic agent. Au-Te nanoworm can effectively deliver gene drug to the tumor and the material-based gene drug-photothermal-photodynamic combination therapy effectively suppressed the tumor growth. As expected, people earning high income have a low degree of demand for redistribution. Preferences for redistribution of heads of a family mainly depend on their income, while those of their children does not depend on their income. And people who expect that income inequality will become worse in the future have stronger preferences for redistribution. We also estimate the effect of these preferences for redistribution on political ideology. For people with age less than 50, higher preferences for redistribution increase the probability that they are politically liberal. In contrast, for people with age 50 or higher, higher preferences for redistribution increase the probability that they are politically conservative. Both groups tend to have strong political ideology as they have strong preferences for redistribution, but the direction is exactly the opposite. This suggests that as people’s preferences for redistribution get higher in the future, political polarization between the age groups may become more pronounced
