ã®èŠéæ°Žæºãšäººç©ã®æå³èšæ¶ã®èŠ³ç¹ããèå¯ãããDisorientation in person among elderly residents with dementia was examined using a questionnaire survey administered to nursing home staff. The nursing home staff evaluated whether each elderly resident with dementia (n=29) knew "who the nursing home staff he/she interacts with are", "who a familiar person visiting him/her more than once a week is", and "who a familiar person visiting him/her once a month is" on a 3-point scale. The result indicated that disorientation in person was not evident in the mild dementia group, but its prominence depended on the severity of eachd resident\u27s dementia. The severity of the disorientation in person also varied according to the category of person the elderly interacted with; 80% of the elderly with severe dementia showed disorientation in person for the nursing home staff, whereas only 40% of them showed disorientation in person for a familiar person. The disorientation in person among the elderly with Alzheimer\u27s disease was severer than that in elderly with vascular dementia and dementia that cannot be attributed to known factors. We also asked an open-ended question "Have you ever seen or heard about dementia cases similar to those of the elderly dementia patient who easily recognized his/her son-in-law visited him/her occasionally but did not recognize his/her daughter visited him/her every day? ". We learned of one such case where "an elderly with dementia did not recognize his/her partner, son, and daughter, but recognized his/her son-in-low and daughter-in-low".
