Framework to Explore the Design Space for Design of Tall Buildings

Design of tall buildings is undergoing a resurgence that is driven by a variety of factors – economical growth, scarcity of land in urban areas, high land costs, increased population density, technological advancements and man’s desire to build taller structures. Considerable research work has been done in the last two decades to meet this demand. Computer-based tools that help design engineers explore design alternatives are indispensable in tackling this complex problem. In addition, a framework that finds the near optimal design, adds value to this exploratory work. In this paper, we develop a general framework for the design optimization of buildings using sizing, shape, and topology design variables. Sizing optimization can be carried out using discrete design variables (from a database of available sections) or continuous design variables (cross-sectional dimensions of custom wide flange sections). Similarly, shape optimization can be carried out using either discrete or continuous design variables. And finally, topology optimization can be carried out using boolean design variables. Allowable stress design guidelines are used as constraints along with displacement, inter-story drift, total structural weight, and frequency constraints. The finite element model is made of three-dimensional beam elements. A typical function evaluation involves a linear, static analysis with multiple load cases, a linear, modal analysis to extract the lowest few eigenpairs, and a linear, buckling analysis to find the buckling capacity. Promosi Wisata Kuliner Seafood Di Makassar the Promotion of Seafood Culinary Tourism in Makassar

This research aims to find out promotion forms of seafood culinary tourism in Makassar and promotion activities done in promoting seafood culinary tourism in Makassar to attract tourists' interest. This research was formed the background of promotion of form and activity done by restaurant and hotel managers in promoting seafood as one of the culinary tourism object in Makassar. The data were obtained through interview to 17 informants. They were then analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis. The results show that restaurant managers rely the on promotion more on face-to-face promotion, so it is very rare to do promotion through mass media, while hotel managers more intensively do promotion. It is also found that hotel managers have more perfect plan before doing promotion, while restaurant managers do promotion only when the rate of visit is low. -This paper focuses in providing an overview of international aid given to Indonesia because foreign aid plays an\ud integral role in the country???s securitization terrorism. Terrorism poses a serious threat to Indonesian security. A series of\ud terrorist attacks that caused many people killed since the Bali bombing in 2002 indicate that Indonesia is a conducive\ud country for the terrorist activities. Therefore, the United States government has placed Indonesia as a base for its campaign\ud "the global war on terrorism" in Southeast Asia. Following the incidences of the 9/11 attacks and the 2002 Bali bombings,\ud the US government has provided assistances in countering terrorism in the country. Meanwhile, assistances have also been\ud being provided by the US government to Indonesia in combating terrorism in the country in military aspect. Kode Etik Jurnalistikdan Sensor Diri di Kalangan Wartawan Pasca Orde Baru di Kota Makassar

The aim of study id to analyze the understanding, attitude, implementation and the implementationefforts of Journalistic Ethics Code as self-censorship by journalisist in the Post-Orde Baru inMakassar. The study is carried out to several journalistis of printed media in Makassar. This is aqualitative research utilizing library and field surveys. The data were collected through observation,deep interviews and documen inspections. The inform ants were determined by snowball samplingtechnique. The data were analyzed using Miles and Hubermans Interactive Model. The result of thestudy indicate that majority of journalistis in the post-Orde Baru in Makassar have a wellunderstanding about some principles like fairness, accuracy, and objecttivity in the journalisticEthics Code. They have positive view toward the principles and agree about the importance inimplementing it. How ever, in fact the principles are not well implemented yet especially about theaccuracy due to some of obstacles faced by journalist when doing their job. Berita Konflik dalam Harian Ambon Ekspres

The aim of this research is to know the factuality, the impartiality and the social impact of Harian Ambon Ekspress in Reporting conflict in Maluku. The analysis units in the research are the conflict report that served in Harian Ambon Ekspres in early 2008 until February 2009 period with types of SARA (clan, religion,race and groups), socio-cultural and politic Conflict Report. The result of the research indicate that, according to the factuality most of the report that served suitable to the facts that happen, this is because of the existence of the official confirmation source from the in service government and security apparatus at the conflict area. Otherwise, according the impartiality, the unbalance report service is dominant in Harian Ambon Ekspres journalistic practice, this is because of the un-existence of certain party confirmation as the conflict contestant and the cover both sides practice. Factual information presentation without journalistic ethnic limitation and partial report presentation has a negative impact and it is nonsupport in creating social and politic stability in the community around the conflict area

MASYARAKAT ERA DIGITAL DALAM PERSPEKTIF STUDI RISIKO DAN PELUANG ALGORITMA MEDIA SOSIAL

Media sosial telah mengambil tempat dan menyita perhatian masyarakat dalam proporsi yang cukup besar. Media sosial menjadi bagian dari rutinitas masyarakat. Tentu masyarakat, terkhusus khalayak pengguna media sosial harus siap terhadap berbagai efek dari penggunaan media sosial. Efek ini dapat sama ataupun berbeda pada masing-masing khalayak. Untuk bisa menghadapi berbagai efek ini (termasuk efek yang mungkin ditimbulkan oleh sistem algoritma media sosial), diperlukan kemampuan resiliensi yang memadai. Fakta terkait masih banyaknya khalayak pengguna media sosial yang tidak mampu mengidentifikasi dan membedakan informasi hoaks, mudah terpengaruh oleh ujaran kebencian yang tersebar luas, dan meyakini kebenaran suatu hal lebih kuat didasarkan pada keyakinan personalnya berdasarkan preferensi tertentu dibandingkan kenyataan sebenarnya mengindikasikan kemungkinan adanya permasalahan yang belum mampu diatasi oleh khalayak pengguna media sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode literature review dengan menganalisis berbagai artikel terkait algoritma media sosial, risikonya, dan resiliensi sebagai kebutuhan untuk menghadapi segala tantangan, dan segala efek yang mungkin ditimbulkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya risiko polarisasi dan ruang gema oleh sistem personalisasi algoritma media sosial dan adanya kesempatan yang belum dimanfaatkan secara maksimal oleh pengguna untuk tidak terjebak dalam personalisasi tersebut guna menghindari efek bias yang dapat ditimbulkan

Media Center Sebagai Pusat Pelayanan Informasi Publik Dalam Penyebarluasan Aktivitas Pemerintahan Kepada Masyarakat Di Kabupaten Pinrang

--Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis peran dan fungsi Media Center sebagai pusat pelayanan\ud informasi publik dalam penyebarluasan aktivitas pemerintahan kepada masyarakat di Kabupaten Pinrang, serta\ud manfaat Media Center sebagai pusat informasi dalam penyebarluasan informasi di Kabupaten Pinrang. Penelitian ini\ud dilaksanakan di Media Center Kabupaten Pinrang dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian\ud dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling yaitu 5 dari pengelola Media Center, 5 dari pengurus LSM\ud dan 7 dari masyarakat yang berkunjung ke Media Center Kabupaten Pinrang. Analisis data dilakukan dengan\ud menggunakan teknik analisis data Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Media Center\ud Kabupaten Pinrang berperan sebagai media koordinasi antara instansi dan juga sebagai media pertukaran informasi\ud antara daerah dan pusat, dan sebaliknya. Media Center Kabupaten Pinrang menyediakan dan menyebarluaskan\ud informasi publik kepada masyarakat meliputi aktivitas pemerintahan, regulasi, fasilitas umum, serta informasi tujuan\ud wisata. Media center merupakan sebuah bentuk konvergensi media elektronik dan media cetak dan memberikan\ud banyak kemudahan bagi masyarakat dan wartawan yang merilis berita. Media Center Kabupaten Pinrang memiliki\ud ciri digitalisasi dan interaktif, sehingga diakses dimana saja dan kapan saja, dan memberikan ruang kepada\ud masyarakat untuk melakukan umpan balik. Media Center Kabupaten Pinrang telah melaksanakan peran dan\ud fungsinya untuk penyebarluasan aktivitas pemerintahan, namun, perlu penyediaan gerai internet di tingkat\ud kecamatan dan kelurahan, peningkatan jaringan internet, pelatihan kehumasan secara rutin, dan penyajian informasi\ud yang benar-benar bermanfaat langsun
