The Z/2\mathbb{Z}/2-equivariant cohomology of complex projective spaces

In this article we compute the cohomology of complex projective spaces associated to finite dimensional representations of Z/2\mathbb{Z}/2 graded on virtual representations of its fundamental groupoid. This fully graded theory, unlike the classical RO(G)RO(G)-graded theory, allows for the definition of push-forward maps between projective spaces, which we also compute. In the computation we use relations and generators coming from the fully graded cohomology of the projective space of U\mathscr {U}, the complete complex Z/2\mathbb{Z}/2-universe, as carried out by the first author. This work is the first step in a program for developing Z/2\mathbb{Z}/2-equivariant Schubert calculus.Comment: 42 pages, this is a minor update. Examining At-Risk Students Based on Their Attitudes toward Educational Factors: Is There a Gender Difference in Identification of At-Risk Students?

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among four specific typologies of environmental factors and at-risk teenagers. The four typologies explored were influences by parents and peers, teachers, educational setting, and factors relating to school behavior. Six research questions guided the study and six null hypotheses were formulated and tested at the .05 level of significance. The degree of relationship between the independent variables and the environmental factors was analyzed by using the Independent samples t-test and One Way ANOVA. The study sample consisted of 195 middle school students in three counties in Northwestern North Carolina and Northeast Tennessee. The results of this study indicate significant relationships between students and two factors, teacher expectations and school behavior as studied in the three counties. The relationships between students and the factor, parents and peers, appear to be equally strong for all students in each of the three counties. This also held true for the factor, educational setting, and the students. An inherent purpose of this study was to enhance perceptions of the value of parent involvement, to encourage more research on the relationships between peers and student achievement, and to show that teacher expectations and the educational setting can have a positive impact on student achievement. Parents, peers, students, teachers, and educational settings are allies in that they share the common goal of helping students to become lifelong learners

Public Relations and Religious Diversity: A Conceptual Framework for Fostering a Spirit of Communitas

Changes in immigration law, globalization and increased ease of transportation have transformed modern societies into culturally diverse landscapes with religious diversity, in particular, presenting both opportunities and challenges. The author proposes a conceptual framework that embraces an interpretation of public relations as a social function, a covenantal model as a theoretical ground, an expanded worldview to include tolerance as an essential defining presupposition, and expanded communicative conceptual parameters that include religion in definitions of diversity and generic principles of excellent practice. An anecdotal review of faith communities in the U.S. reveals that public relations professionals and other communicators model the conceptual framework in interfaith initiatives and that the framework would serve as a helpful foundation for guiding communication professionals toward such behaviour. The study also illustrates that socially-responsible behaviour often has a foundation of faith common across various faith traditions
