    Solar Neutrino Precision Measurements using all 1496 Days of Super-Kamiokande-I Data

    The results of the entire Super-Kamiokande-I solar neutrino data are presented. The measured interaction rate is 47+-2% of the rate expected by the standard solar model and 133+-5% of the rate implied by the SNO charged-current interaction rate. There is no evidence for spectral distortion or a time dependent neutrino flux. Together with the rates of other experiments, the Super-Kamiokande results imply active solar neutrino oscillations and restrict neutrino mixing and mass square difference to lie within the LMA solution area.Comment: to be published in the Proceedings of the XXth International Confernece on Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics 8 pages, 11 figure

    A global two-neutrino oscillation fit combining Super-Kamiokande solar neutrino data with the solar neutrino rates measured by Homestake, Gallex/GNO, SAGE and SNO prefers a single allowed area, the Large Mixing Angle solution, at about 95% confidence level.     A case study of the barriers and enablers affecting teaching staff e-learning provision

    Presented at the International Conference on Information Communication Technologies in Education, 7-9 July, 2016, Rhodes Greece.The present paper reports the outputs of a focus group examining the perceived uses, enablers and barriers of utilising virtual learning environments (VLEs), amongst a small group of postgraduate teachers. Sixteen pedagogical/teaching functions were identified and were mapped to MacLean and Scott’s (2011) model of VLE elements. Whilst a number of enablers of VLE use were apparent, participants’ insights and inputs indicated a larger number of VLE barriers. It appears that the biggest barrier to overcome in using VLEs is finding the time to develop the materials and navigate the technology

    The Solar Neutrino Day/Night Effect in Super-Kamiokande

    The time variation of the elastic scattering rate of solar neutrinos with electrons in Super-Kamiokande-I was fit to the day/night variations expected from active two-neutrino oscillations in the Large Mixing Angle region. Combining Super-Kamiokande measurements with other solar and reactor neutrino data, the mixing angle is determined as sin^2theta=0.276+0.033-0.026 and the mass squared difference between the two neutrino mass eigenstates as Delta m^2=7.1+0.6-0.5x10^-5eV^2. For the best fit parameters, a day/night asymmetry of -1.7+-1.6(stat)+1.3-1.2(syst)% was determined from the Super-Kamiokande data, which has improved statistical precision over previous measurements and is in excellent agreement with the expected value of -1.6%.Comment: 3 pages, 4 figures; to appear in the proceedings of the TAUP 2003 conferenc
