    The concept of systemic risk

    Get PDF
The aim of the study is to analyze the concept of systemic risk. The study reviews a multitude of systemic risk definitions in the literature. In addition, the paper identifies factors that contribute to the build-up of systemic risk (vulnerabilities), the spreading of contagion and provides a conceptual blueprint linking these phenomena. The author proposes to define systemic risk as the risk that a shock will result in such a significant materialization of (e.g. macrofinancial) imbalances that it will spread on the scale impairing the functioning of financial system and to the extent that it adversely affects the real economy (e.g. economic growth). The blueprint intends to break down and clearly categorize the processes of accumulation, materialization and spreading of systemic risk. This should in turn facilitate its identification and subsequent mitigation by assigning appropriate preventive macroprudential measures. As an example, the blueprint is used to analyze systemic risk stemming from FX lending in CEE countries

Publikacja jest zbiorem artykułów z I Ogólnopolskiej Konferencji Studencko-Doktoranckiej, zorganizowanej 8 czerwca 2018 r. pt. "Świat, państwo, człowiek. Istota i perspektywy bezpieczeństwa w XXI wieku", zorganizowanej przez Koło Naukowe Doktorantów Nauk o Bezpieczeństwie UPH oraz Studenckie Koło Bezpieczeństwa Narodowego UPHAbstract: In this article discusses the issues related to the war in Ukraine. This war is an example of hybridity in the armed conflicts. The article draws attention to the position of two countries – Poland and the USA, which have interests in this conflict. The first part presents the definition of a hybrid war, while the second contains a description of the positions of the Polish and US authorities on the aspect of the war between Ukraine and Russia and the social opinions in these countries on this subject. Keywords: hybrid war, Ukrainian-Russian conflict, public opinion.

Functional repeated measures analysis of variance and its application

This paper is motivated by medical studies in which the same patients with multiple sclerosis are examined at several successive visits and described by fractional anisotropy tract profiles, which can be represented as functions. Since the observations for each patient are dependent random processes, they follow a repeated measures design for functional data. To compare the results for different visits, we thus consider functional repeated measures analysis of variance. For this purpose, a pointwise test statistic is constructed by adapting the classical test statistic for one-way repeated measures analysis of variance to the functional data framework. By integrating and taking the supremum of the pointwise test statistic, we create two global test statistics. Apart from verifying the general null hypothesis on the equality of mean functions corresponding to different objects, we also propose a simple method for post hoc analysis. We illustrate the finite sample properties of permutation and bootstrap testing procedures in an extensive simulation study. Finally, we analyze a motivating real data example in detail

D-optimal and highly D-efficient designs with non-negatively correlated observations

summary:In this paper we consider D-optimal and highly D-efficient chemical balance weighing designs. The errors are assumed to be equally non-negatively correlated and to have equal variances. Some necessary and sufficient conditions under which a design is D*-optimal design (regular D-optimal design) are proved. It is also shown that in many cases D*-optimal design does not exist. In many of those cases the designs constructed by Masaro and Wong (2008) and some new designs are shown to be highly D-efficient. Theoretical results are accompanied by numerical search, suggesting D-optimality of designs under consideration

Analysis of the 3D glasses application in a spatial simulation on the basis of the architectural visualization

The arcticle describes preparation of architectural visualization of the virtual museum. It purpose was to explore possibilities of using VR glasses, 3D scans and design aplications. During the study VR glasses showed great opportunities in the field of architectural visualisation. The results of the performance tests confirmed potencial in 3D scans and models from design applications, although they require mesh prcoessing and simplification. However, the tests showed insufficient performance of tested smartphone’s GPU, which shows that market needs to advance in this direction. This would make it possible to create better VR applications
