    Architecture of a Web-based Predictive Editor for Controlled Natural Language Processing

    In this paper, we describe the architecture of a web-based predictive text editor being developed for the controlled natural language PENG^{ASP). This controlled language can be used to write non-monotonic specifications that have the same expressive power as Answer Set Programs. In order to support the writing process of these specifications, the predictive text editor communicates asynchronously with the controlled natural language processor that generates lookahead categories and additional auxiliary information for the author of a specification text. The text editor can display multiple sets of lookahead categories simultaneously for different possible sentence completions, anaphoric expressions, and supports the addition of new content words to the lexicon

    Attempto - From Specifications in Controlled Natural Language towards Executable Specifications

    Deriving formal specifications from informal requirements is difficult since one has to take into account the disparate conceptual worlds of the application domain and of software development. To bridge the conceptual gap we propose controlled natural language as a textual view on formal specifications in logic. The specification language Attempto Controlled English (ACE) is a subset of natural language that can be accurately and efficiently processed by a computer, but is expressive enough to allow natural usage. The Attempto system translates specifications in ACE into discourse representation structures and into Prolog.     Specifying Logic Programs in Controlled Natural Language

    Writing specifications for computer programs is not easy since one has to take into account the disparate conceptual worlds of the application domain and of software development. To bridge this conceptual gap we propose controlled natural language as a declarative and application-specific specification language. Controlled natural language is a subset of natural language that can be accurately and efficiently processed by a computer, but is expressive enough to allow natural usage by non-specialists. Specifications in controlled natural language are automatically translated into Prolog clauses, hence become formal and executable. The translation uses a definite clause grammar (DCG) enhanced by feature structures. Inter-text references of the specification, e.g. anaphora, are resolved with the help of discourse representation theory (DRT). The generated Prolog clauses are added to a knowledge base.     Attempto Controlled English (ACE) allows domain specialists to interactively formulate requirements specifications in domain concepts. ACE can be accurately and efficiently processed by a computer, but is expressive enough to allow natural usage. The Attempto system translates specification texts in ACE into discourse representation structures and optionally into Prolog. Translated specification texts are incrementally added to a knowledge base.     Myocardial perfusion imaging by cardiac magnetic resonance

    Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) has been shown to provide high quality data on cardiac and valvular function, perfusion, viability, blood flow, and potentially, on cardiac metabolism as well. Several of these CMR applications (eg, function and viability assessment) matured during the past years and are now established components of a cardiac workup. Perfusion-CMR is close to this status and is already a major contributor to cardiac examinations in a growing number of expert centers. Large multicenter perfusion-CMR trials comparing the diagnostic performance of CMR with other techniques were recently reported yielding areas under the receiver-operator-characteristics curve as a high as 0.85 for coronary artery disease detection (MR-IMPACT). Anticipating a growing role for perfusion-CMR in cardiology in the near future, this article discusses the principles of perfusion-CMR and its integration into the workup of patient with coronary artery disease (CAD). In addition to a functional study, this integration is mainly composed of a perfusion-CMR part, followed by a viability assessment by late enhancement CMR techniques. The principal characteristics of these CMR techniques are compared with those of single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET). After introduction into principles and techniques of perfusion-CMR, some open questions in perfusion-CMR and challenges for the future are addressed. Finally, newer CMR applications are shortly mentioned utilizing hyperpolarized carbon-13 compounds in experimental models for quantification of myocardial perfusion and for real-time assessment of metabolic pathways in postischemic myocardium.     Dieser Artikel untersucht biographisch erzählende Briefe an die "Liebe Marta", die das Thema Sexualaufklärung mit ansprechen. Dabei wird die Frage nach subjektiven Deutungsmustern gestellt: Wie wurde die eigenerlebte "Aufklärung" thematisiert? Wie wurden ihre Wirkungen verstanden und erklärt? Folgende Muster zeichnen sich ab: Die eigenerlebte Sexualaufklärung wurde als mangelhaft kritisiert, und dieser Mangel wurde mit dem Scheitern von intimen Beziehungen und mit sexuellen Problemen zusammengedacht. Erkennbar sind zudem geschlechtsspezifische Argumentationen: Wenn Frauen die eigenerlebte Sexualaufklärung thematisierten, erschienen fast immer auch sexuelle Unlust und Orgasmusprobleme, seltener auch sexuelle Übergriffe; Männer dagegen thematisierten zusammen mit ihrer Aufklärung nur selten Potenzprobleme, dafür aber fast immer Einsamkeit und Kontaktarmut sowie Scham- und Schuldgefühle. Sexualaufklärung wurde von den Schreibenden als etwas verstanden, was Einfluss auf die Persönlichkeitsentwicklung und die Beziehungsbiographie hatte

    Learning Effect Axioms via Probabilistic Logic Programming

    In this paper we showed how we can automatically learn the structure and parameters of probabilistic effect axioms for the Simple Event Calculus (SEC) from positive and negative example interpretations stated as short dialogue sequences in natural language. We used the cplint framework for this task that provides libraries for structure and parameter learning and for answering queries with exact and inexact inference. The example dialogues that are used for learning the structure of the probabilistic logic program are parsed into dependency structures and then further translated into the Event Calculus notation with the help of a simple ontology. The novelty of our approach is that we can not only process uncertainty in event recognition but also learn the structure of effect axioms and combine these two sources of uncertainty to successfully answer queries under this probabilistic setting. Interestingly, our extension of the logic-based version of the SEC is completely elaboration-tolerant in the sense that the probabilistic version fully includes the logic-based version. This makes it possible to use the probabilistic version of the SEC in the traditional way as well as when we have to deal with uncertainty in the observed world. In the future, we would like to extend the probabilistic version of the SEC to deal -- among other things -- with concurrent actions and continuous change

    4. Conclusions: The presented MR approach reliably identifies patients with anatomically and hemodynamically signiticant coronary artery stenoses. This is due to the fact, that the pulse sequence used produces a substantial change in signal intensity in the perfused versus poorly perfused myocardial regions. Analysis of upslope in this setting rather than of other parameters provides a very sensitive and specific measure of myocardial ischemia. As upslope is a semiquantitative measure of absolute perfusion, even patients with triple vessel disease may be evaluated using this method. This is not the case when using conventional nuclear techniques. Furthermore, the spatial resolution of the MR images permits one to resolve the subendocardial layers of the myocardium, which thus can be evaluated separately from the entire wall. Again, this is not possible using nuclear cardiology perfusion imaging. The robustness of this MR perfusion imaging approach and the fact, that most of the heart can be covered may qualify for its clinical application in the management of coronary artery diseas
