The pion-pion scattering lengths from DIRAC

The scattering lengths of a two pion system are the {\it golden magnitudes} to test the QCD predictions in the low energy sector. The DIRAC (PS-212) experiment at CERN will obtain a particular combination of the S-wave isospin 0 and 2 scattering lengths by measuring the lifetime of pionium, the hydrogen-like $\pi^+ \pi^-$ atom. This measurement tests the accurate predictions of the Chiral Perturbation Theory. Commissioning of the ATLAS Electron and Photon Trigger Selection

Since the start-up of the LHC end of 2009, the trigger commissioning is in full swing. The ATLAS trigger system is divided into three levels: the hardware-based first level trigger, and the software-based second level trigger and Event Filter, collectively referred to as the High Level Trigger (HLT). Initially, events have been selected online based on the Level-1 selections with the HLT algorithms run but not rejecting any events. This has been an important step in the commissioning of these triggers to ensure their correct functioning and subsequently to enable the HLT selections. Due to increasing LHC luminosity and the large QCD cross section, this has been a vital step to select leptons from J/$\Psi$, bottom, charm, W and Z decays. This presentation gives an overview of the trigger performance of the electron and photon selection. Comparisons of the online selection variables with the offline reconstruction are shown as well as comparisons of data with MC simulations on which the current selection tuning is performed.Comment: Contribution to the proceedings of the Hadron Collider Physics 2010 symposium held in Toronto. Anomalies in the cognitive-executive functions in patients with chiari malformation type I

Resumen tomado de la publicaciónAnomalías en las funciones cognitivo-ejecutivas en pacientes con la Malformación de Chiari Tipo I. Antecedentes: en la última década, existen evidencias crecientes de que déficits neuropsicológicos, esencialmente en funciones ejecutivas, pueden estar involucrados en la patogenia de la enfermedad de Chiari Tipo I. El objetivo del estudio es evaluar la influencia de anormalidades estructurales sobre las funciones neuropsicológicas, fundamentalmente ejecutivas, en pacientes con Chiari Tipo I. Método: para ello se comparó el perfil neuropsicológico de estos pacientes con controles sanos. Tanto a los pacientes Chiari Tipo I como a los controles sanos se les aplicó pruebas neuropsicológicas que valoraron funciones ejecutivas frontales de vigilancia o atención sostenida, flexibilidad mental, y planificación y formación de conceptos (Stroop, CPT, WCST). Resultados: los resultados obtenidos sugieren una afectación de los pacientes Chiari Tipo I en los procesos de inhibición y autocontrol (Stroop) y en la capacidad atencional y en el mantenimiento del curso del pensamiento y la acción (WCST). Conclusiones: estos resultados proporcionan evidencias de posibles déficits o anomalías en las funciones ejecutivas cognitivas, que permitirían diferenciar los pacientes con Chiari Tipo I.Universidad de Oviedo. Dynamics of the Pionium with the Density Matrix Formalism

The evolution of pionium, the $\pi^+ \pi^-$ hydrogen-like atom, while passing through matter is solved within the density matrix formalism in the first Born approximation. We compare the influence on the pionium break-up probability between the standard probabilistic calculations and the more precise picture of the density matrix formalism accounting for interference effects. Intangible heritage in the País Valenciano: a very tangible explosion

En este artículo proponemos una aproximación a las políticas impulsadas, en los últimos años, sobre el patrimonio inmaterial valenciano. Para ello, en primer lugar, proponemos un breve marco interpretativo desde donde poder abordar el análisis que nos ocupa. La explosión de lo inmaterial se encuadra en las nuevas políticas patrimoniales desplegadas por la UNESCO, pero también responde al llamado tercer espíritu del capitalismo y a las transformaciones acaecidas en los sujetos/objetos patrimoniales. En segundo lugar, realizamos una aproximación al marco normativo del patrimonio cultural valenciano, para ver cómo ha encajado en su legislación lo inmaterial. En tercer lugar, tratamos de ver qué imagen se proyecta o se construye tras las activaciones patrimoniales de los bienes inmateriales en el País Valenciano. Desde nuestra consideración, resulta significativa, por un lado, la ubicación de los bienes escogidos en cuanto encapsuladores de lo que se entiende o se impone como patrimonio inmaterial; y, por otro, la estrategia política mostrada hasta el momento, que parece enfocarse hacia para el reconocimiento de bienes para la Lista de Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad. Por último, para cerrar este trabajo, realizamos una reflexión sobre el tipo de activaciones que se están produciendo y nos planteamos si la fetichización y mercantilización de lo inmaterial puede ser sorteada con la participación y la implicación de la comunidad.In this article we propose an approximation to the policies implemented in the last few years on the Valenciano intangible heritage. To achieve this goal, first we propose a succinct interpretative framework to contribute to the analysis of patrimonial issues. The explosion of the intangible must be understood in the context of the heritage policies unfolded by UNESCO but also taking into account the so called “capitalism third spirit” and the transformations suffered by the patrimonial subjects/objects. Secondly, we analyze the Valencian normative cultural framework to understand how it has absorbed the intangible in its legislation. Thirdly, we highlight the image that is constructed and projected by the patrimonial activation of the PaísValencià intangible goods. The location of the chosen goods is extremely relevant as it has an impact on what is considered or imposed as intangible heritage. The political strategy used to date seems focused on achieving recognition by List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Lastly, the article discusses if participation and community implication can counteract the fetishization and commodification that one observes in current processes of patrimonial implementation.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad CSO2015-68611-
