    INFLUENCE OF THE SELECTED MINORITY GROUP ON GENTRIFICATION OF CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOOD EDGEWATER

    As the world became more globalized place, big cities became social self-sustained eco-systems. Constant change of cities is an essential part of its charm, but also a possible problem. Changes of urban cities with worst connotation are gentrification and gentrification is the cause of segregation on so many levels. This paper analyzes what factors led to the process of gentrification of the Edgewater neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois (USA). The main goal is to discover the possible causes of a gentrification’s paths and its influence on changing urban neighborhoods. This paper uses the example of Edgewater and the influence of the LGBT community on the neighborhood gentrification. Using theories and methodology of urban sociology, it identifies Edgewater as a ‘gayborhood’, analyzes factors of the creation of such a community, its specific culture and symbolic representation. Finally, it questions the exploitation of this specific culture as a base for symbolic economy, growth machine and gentrification of the neighborhood

    Akte des Entinnerns: Leni Riefenstahl und der weiße Feminismus im postnationalsozialistischen Deutschland

    Die Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz erhielt im Jahr 2018 den fotografischen, filmischen und schriftlichen Nachlass Leni Riefenstahls. Ihr gesamtes Werk und ihre Rolle im Nationalsozialismus sollte, so der Stiftungspräsident, mit einem Milionenetat aufgearbeitet werden. Die Autorin fragt sich indessen nach der Rolle Riefenstahls nach 1945, der aktiven Verschleierung ihrer Ausbeutung von Rom:nja und Sinti:zze als Zwangsarbeiter:innen für den Spielfilm Tiefland sowie ihrer Beteiligung am NS-System. Die Relativierung der Verbrechen Riefenstahls zugunsten ihrer Ikonisierung als erfolgreiche Karrierefrau unterstützten auch weiße Deutsche Feminist:innen. Die Autorin diskutiert Riefenstahls Verhalten sowie die Argumentation ihrer Unterstützer:innen als Sabottageakte gegen die Erinnerung der Überlebenden und als Akte der Entinnerung an dem an Rom:nja und Sinti:zze begangenen Genozid. Die Diskursstränge „Kunst versus Ethik“ sowie die heteronormative Entpolitisierung und Viktimisierung Riefenstahls als Opfer des Systems deutet sie als Allianzen mit postnationalsozialistischen Strukturen zugunsten eines „Hauptwiderspruchsfeminismus“ , dessen kritische Reflexion und Überwindung für einen solidarischen Feminismus in der Gegenwart erforderlich ist

    The aim of this investigation was to estimate the effects of different amounts of nitrogen on the grain yield and nutritive value in two soybean genotypes (Laura and Lana). Studied varieties belong to different maturity groups (Laura is in the group I, while Lana is in the group II) and they both have reduced content of Kunitz trypsin inhibitor (KTI). Four treatments of fertilization were tested: 0 kg N ha-1, 30 kg N ha-1, 60 kg N ha-1 and 90 kg N ha-1. Field trials were carried out in dry land farming, at location Putinci, during the years 2008 and 2009. In both research years, variety Lana had higher grain yield and oil content then variety Laura. Method of nitrogen fertilization has been proved as an effective tool for increasing of grain yield and protein content in both varieties. The results of the study showed that application of 90 kg N ha-1 increased the grain yield and protein content of soybean more than application of other treatments (0, 30 and 60 kg N ha- 1). All nitrogen fertilization levels decreased the oil content.Cilj istraživanja bio je da se odredi uticaj različite količine azota na prinos zrna i hranljivu vrednost zrna kod dva genotipa soje (Laura i Lana). Ispitivane sorte soje pripadaju različitim grupama zrenja (Laura - I i Lana - II) i imaju smanjeni sadržaj Kunitz tripsin inhibitora (KTI). Upoređivane su četiri varijante ishrane biljaka azotom: 0 kg N ha-1, 30 kg N ha-1, 60 kg N ha-1 i 90 kg N ha-1. Ogledi su izvedeni u suvom ratarenju, na lokaciji Putinci, tokom 2008. i 2009. godine. U obe godine istraživanja, sorta Lana imala je veći prinos zrna i sadržaj ulja nego sorta Laura. Ishrana azotom pokazala se kao uspešna metoda za poboljšanje prinosa zrna i sadržaja proteina kod obe sorte. Rezultati istraživanja pokazali su da je primena 90 kg N ha-1 povećala prinos zrna soje i sadržaj proteina u zrnu više nego primena drugih tretmana (0, 30 i 60 kg N ha-1). Svi nivoi ishrane azotom smanjili su sadržaj ulja

    ANALYSIS OF REPORTING ON MALE AND FEMALE ATHLETES IN SERBIAN MEDIA DURING THE OLYMPIC GAMES IN LONDON 2012

    The main goal of this paper was to find out more about how and to what extent the local media reported on sporting events at the 2012 London Olympics and to determine the difference in reporting on male and female athletes in the local media. The subject of the research are newspaper articles about sports in electronic news editions, which influence the formation of the media image about athletes, and which can contribute to the affirmation or marginalization of women in sports. In this research for collecting data and information about athletes at the Olympic Games, three media sources were used: RTS, KURIR and POLITIKA. The data have been collected since the opening of the Olympic Games until their official closing ceremony and every day was thoroughly processed in all three media sources. The information included information on the gender of the author of the text, the number of photos in the text, the number of words in the text, the gender of the actors who are on the photos, the level of exposure of the actor's bodies in the photos, the emotions in the photos, the angle of the camera, individual and group display of athletes, active or passive on-site and out-of-court conditions. Generally speaking, the findings of this research in the media space of Serbia show that there is still an imbalance in the way men and women athletes are represented, and that in this respect, there is a need for certain changes in this issue

    Meadows of lowland and upland areas of Vlasina Plain represent a significant natural plant resource. A botanical study of the Vlasina Plain region conducted by RANĐELOVIĆ (2002) identifies four lowland meadow communities (ass. Equiseto-Scirpetum xilvaticae Šegulja, ass. Polygono-Scirpetum xilvaticae Schw., ass. Brachythecio-Menthetum longifoliae V. Rand. and ass. Deschampsietum caespitosae H-ić.) and six phytocoenoses of hilly-mountainous meadows and pastures (ass. Diantho-Armerietum rumelicae N. Rand., ass. Festuco nigre.icenti-Nardetum strictae N. Rand., ass. Lino-Nardetum strictae Rexp. et N. Rand., ass. Thymo-Poetum violaceae Mic., ass. Festucetum paniculatae Horv. and ass. Centattrio-Festucetum validate N. Rand.). Besides identifying the weed species that participate in the grassland communities of Vlasina Plain, this study deals with all relevant parameters concerning that particular plant category, including primarily: taxonomic analysis, quantitative representation in certain grassland communities, life forms (biological spectrum), phyto-geographical characteristics (floral elements), ecological and biological features and categorization according to their harmful effect (very poisonous, weakly poisonous and useless species). This first brief report contains data on the weed flora of meadows and pastures of Vlasina Plain, while the main subject of a second communication (in preparation) would be focused on detailed analysis of weed species in the region, their biological characteristics and specific features.Dolinske i brdske, odnosno, planinske livade i pašnjaci predstavljaju značajne prirodne biljne resurse Vlasinske visoravni. Prema istraživanjima V. Randelovića (2002) na ovom području zastupljene su 4 biljne zajednice dolinskih livada (ass. Equiseto-Scirpetum silvaticae Segulja, ass. Polygono-Scirpetuin silvaticae Schw., ass. Brachythecio-Menthetum longifoliae V. Rand, i ass. Deschampsietum caespitosae H-ić) i 6 fitocenoza planinskih livada i pašnjaka (ass. Diantho-Arinerietimi rumelicae N. Rand., ass. Festuc.o nigrescenti-Nardelnm atrictae N. Ranđ., ass. Lmu-Nunletum xtrictae Rexp. el N. Rand., ass. Thymo-Poetum violaceae Mic., ass. Festucetum paniculatae Horv. i ass. Centaurio-Fesiucctum validae N. Rand.). Pored identifikacije travnjačkih korovskih vrsta u livadskim i pašnjačkim zajednicama Vlasinske visoravni, proučeni su i analizirani svi važniji parametri koji se odnose na ovu kategoriju biljaka, kao što su: taksonomska anali/a, kvantitativna zastupljenost u pojedinim travnjačkim fitocenozama, kategorizacija korova prema štetnosti (vrlo otrovne, slabo otrovne, bezvredne vrste), ekološke i biološke osobine, pripadnost odgovarajućim životnim oblicima (biološki spektar), fitogeografske karakteristike (udeo pojedinih geoelemenata). U prvom saopštenju, ovom prilikom, dat je samo pregled korovskih vrsta u livadskim i pašnjačkim fitocenozama Vlasinske visoravni, dok će se u drugom delu ove studije analizirati karakteristike i specifičnosti pojedinih travnjačkih korova u livadskim i pašnjačkim zajednicama na području Vlasinske visoravni

    Electrophysical properties of microalloyed alumo-silicate ceramics as active dielectric

    In this paper, electrophysical properties of porous alumo-silicate ceramics, modified by alloying with magnesium and microalloying with aluminum, were investigated. Complex multiphase system, as active microalloyed ceramics, has specific behavior under influence of external electrical field, which involves changes of dielectric losses and impedance, depending on frequency and temperature. Dielectric properties were measured in the frequency range 20 Hz - 1 MHz. Values for permittivity (εr) ranged between 140 - 430. Order of magnitude for electrical resistivity was about 106 Ωm, for impedance 104 - 108 Ω, and loss tangent had values about and greater than 0.05. Current flow through active dielectric takes place through dielectric barrier and throughout conduction bands of thin aluminum and magnesium metal films. Permittivity has nonlinear distribution and complex functional dependences because of significant nonhomogeneity of active microalloyed ceramics. Lower values of electrical resistivity are the result of complex electron and ion transfer of charge through solid phase and pores, with decreased potential barriers height, due to the influence of additives, ingredients and defects.     MISSING DATA SAMPLES: SYSTEMATIZATION AND CONDUCTING METHODS-A REVIEW

    This paper investigates the phenomenon of the incomplete data samples by analyzing their structure and also resolves the necessary procedures regularly used in missing data analysis. The research gives a crucial perceptive of the techniques and mechanisms needed in dealing with missing data issues in general. The motivation for writing this brief overview of the topic lies in the fact that statistical researchers inevitably meet missing data in their analysis. The authors examine the applicability of regular approaches for handling the missing data situations. Based on several previously published results, the authors provide an example of the incomplete data sample model that can be implemented when confronting with specific missing data patterns.

    Gentamicin nephrotoxicity in animals: current knowledge and future perspectives

    Due to high relative blood flow the kidney is prone to drug-induced damage. Aminoglycoside type antibiotic gentamicin is one of the leading cause of drug-induced nephrotoxicity. In recent years gentamicin nephrotoxicity is significantly reduced by shifting to once daily dosage as well as by eliminating known risk factors. Application of gentamicin is still related to serious side effects which are reported more often compared to other antibiotics. Because gentamicin is still heavily used and is highly efficient in treating infections, it is important to find mechanisms to reduce its nephrotoxicity. This aim can only be achieved through better understanding of kidney metabolism of gentamicin. This problem has been extensively researched in the last 20 years. The experimental results have provided evidence for almost complete understanding of mechanisms responsible for gentamicin nephrotoxicity. We now have well described morphological, biochemical and functional changes in kidney due to gentamicin application. During the years, this model has become so popular that now it is used as an experimental model for nephrotoxicity per se. This situation can mislead an ordinary reader of scientific literature that we know everything about it and there is nothing new to discover here. But quite opposite is true. The precise and complete mechanism of gentamicin nephrotoxicity is still point of speculation and an unfinished story. With emerge of new and versatile technics in biomedicine we have an opportunity to reexamine old beliefs and discover new facts. This review focuses on current knowledge in this area and gives some future perspectives
