    Load Testing Results of new Road Bridges In Bosnia and Herzegovina

    In this paper the results of load testing of several new road bridges constructed in Bosnia and Herzegovina are presented. Load testing of new road bridges with spans larger than 15m, prior to setting them into operation, is obligatory according to regulations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Load testing, according to regulations, consists of static and dynamic tests, and is performed according to instructions given in the regulations. The test results then have to be compared with the results obtained by the theoretical design model, which is also given in this paper

    Inovacije postaju sve važniji čimbenik u naporima poduzeća da sačuvaju i unaprijede svoj konkurentni položaj na domaćem i stranom tržiÅ”tu. Inovativne tvrtke su one koje reagiraju na iznenadne promjene u okruženju, ali su i same pokretači promjena. Između ostaloga, dinamične i turbulentne promjene u okruženju, kao i stalno rastuća konkurencija utjecale su na skraćivanje životnog ciklusa proizvoda i trajanje inovativnih rjeÅ”enja. PočevÅ”i od modela stvaranja vrijednosti, tvrtka se može odlučiti stvoriti novi model, ili oponaÅ”ati i prilagoditi neki dominantan model u svojoj djelatnosti. Obje krajnje pozicije (inovator, odnosno sljedbenik) zahtijevaju iznimne organizacijske vjeÅ”tine. Cilj je ovoga rada utvrditi jesu li tvrtke u Bosni i Hercegovini inovatori ili sljedbenici, i to na temelju životnog ciklusa proizvoda te načina kako poduzeća reagiraju na promjene. Kako bi se dobila cjelokupna slika inovacijske snage promatranih tvrtki u Bosni i Hercegovini, također će se analizirati dinamika investicija u istraživanje i razvoj, kao i stavovi top menadžmenta o važnosti inovacija u postizanju konkurentnih prednosti za vlastite tvrtke.Innovations have become an increasingly important factor in the struggle to preserve and improve the competitive position of enterprises in domestic and international markets. Innovative companies are those that react to sudden changes in the environment but are also the very cause of change. Dynamic and turbulent changes in the environment and constantly increasing competition, among other factors, have affected the shortening product life cycle and the duration of innovative solutions. Starting from the model creation value, a company may decide to create a new model for value creation or create an imitation - an adaptation of a dominant model in the industry. Both extreme positions (innovator vs. follower) require exceptional organizational skills. The aim of this paper is that, the life cycle of products and companiesā€™ reactions to changes, determines whether the B&H companies are inventors or followers. In order to get a complete picture of the innovative strength of the observed B&H enterprises, we will, in addition, analyze the dynamics of investment in research and development, as well as top managementā€™s view of the importance of innovation in achieving competitive advantages for their companies

    Utjecaj glavnih komponenti radnog mjesta na zadovoljstvo i učinak zaposlenika u kontekstu digitalizacije

    In the time of digitalization within the framework of the fourth technological revolution, it is necessary to return the human being to the first place in the science of management. Men and women as the performers of activities should be on the pedestal of all modern processes that take place in society and business, to avoid the problem in which the society was ā€œtrappedā€œ, during the previous industrial revolutions. The application of information technology in general and artificial intelligence in particular affects the design and content of the main components of job design, which inevitably leads to a reflection on the satisfaction and performance of employees at the workplace. The paper aims to explore the impact of specific workplace components on employee satisfaction and performance, further recognizing which components contribute the most in the context of digitalization and 4IR. From Hackman and Oldhamā€™s job design theory and Mintzbergā€™s organizational structure framework, we propose and test a research framework that investigated the impact of technical system, work assignment and worker features on employee satisfaction and performance in a contemporary context. The research was conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina on a random sample of 125 respondents from public and private sector organizations, different industries and companiesā€™ sizes. The analysis was realized through hierarchical multiple linear regression model and the key findings revealed that the task and knowledge characteristics of artificial intelligence-enabled jobs are vitally important for inducing innovative work behaviour among employees.U doba digitalizacije u okviru četvrte tehnoloÅ”ke revolucije potrebno je ponovno postaviti ljudsko biće na pijedestal u području menadžmenta. MuÅ”karci i žene kao nosioci aktivnosti trebaju biti na pijedestalu svih suvremenih procesa koji se odvijaju u druÅ”tvu i poslovanju, kako bi se izbjegao problem u kojem je druÅ”tvo bilo ā€žzarobljenoā€œ tijekom prethodnih industrijskih revolucija. Primjena informacijske tehnologije uopće, a posebice umjetne inteligencije, utječe na dizajn i sadržaj glavnih komponenti dizajna posla, Å”to neminovno dovodi do refleksije na zadovoljstvo i učinak zaposlenih na radnom mjestu. Cilj rada jest istražiti utjecaj specifičnih komponenti radnog mjesta na zadovoljstvo i učinak zaposlenih, dodatno prepoznajući koje komponente im najviÅ”e doprinose u kontekstu digitalizacije i 4IR-a. Iz teorije dizajna poslova Hackmana i Oldhama i Mintzbergovog okvira organizacijske strukture, predlažemo i testiramo istraživački okvir koji procjenjuje utjecaj tehničkog sustava, radnog zadatka i karakteristika zaposlenika na zadovoljstvo i učinak zaposlenih u suvremenom kontekstu. Istraživanje je provedeno u Bosni i Hercegovini na slučajnom uzorku od 125 ispitanika iz organizacija javnog i privatnog sektora, različitih industrija i veličina poduzeća.     Transformational leadership and employee satisfaction

    The main purpose of this paper was to carry out an empirical research on whether transformational leadership, in comparison to other contemporary leadership styles, contributes to higher employee satisfaction levels. In total, 399 respondents took part in this research, which was conducted in companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany. This was the starting point to identify the dominant leadership style in each of the two countries. Using a nonparametric Mann-Whitney test, it was proved that there is a statistically significant difference in employee satisfaction under transformational leadership as opposed to the transactional and charismatic styles. After a detailed research of the literature, it became apparent that research on this subject is scarce. Accordingly, presenting transformational leadership and its influence on employee satisfaction was a particular challenge

    Antibiotic prophylaxis and inflammatory complications after Cesarean section

    Introduction: Gynaecological and obstetric surgeries are high risk operations for the development of postoperative inflammatory complications due to the proximity of the genitourinary tract. The aim of this study was to compare the frequency of inflammatory complications in emergency or elective cases of caesarean sections as well as the frequency of complications related to the method of surgical treatment used.Methods: We analyzed inflammatory complications in 450 caesarean sections, which developed in a one year period from June 1st, 2000. to June 1st 2001. Patients were grouped according to the method of the surgery, and on emergency or elective case. Misgav Ladach or Dorfler surgical methods were used.Results: The most common inflammatory complication was wound infection and the most common risk factors for inflammatory complications were premature rupture of membranes and anemia.Conclusions: Long term use of one antibiotic was the most commonly implemented form of antibiotic prophylaxis

    Motivation of health professionals and associates to perform daily job activities

    Introduction: Motivation is one of the most complex elements of human behavior, it is the subject of debates by which we answer to the question of why someone behaves in a certain way. The aim of this study wasto examine the factors of motivation for health workers and staff in working with diffi cult patients in intensive care units and to evaluate implementation of motivation factors by managers in their daily work with a team of health professionals.Methods: The study was designed as prospective. It was conducted on 27 employees who work in intensive care units in Clinical Center of Sarajevo University. The survey questionnaire was used with a clear andconcise questions , aimed at testing the factors of motivation for daily work with diffi cult patients, as well as implementation of motivational factors by managers in the organizational unit (OU).Results: Respondents indicated that motivates them, good organization of work - 10 of them (37%), while 26% of respondents indicated that they are motivated by fi nancial gain. In our study 21 (77%) of respondentssaid that their managers infuenced the motivation for a better job. Mobbing at the workplace did not had 80% of respondents, while 8% of respondents stated that they had some form of mobbing, and 12% of respondents give partial response.Conclusions: The survey showed that most respondents have a good motivation factors for the performance of daily activities to work with diffi cult patients.     The influence of variety and fertilization on yield and content of vitamin c in the root of parsley (Petroselinum ssp.)

    The two-year research investigated the impact of different varieties and fertilizers on the root yield and the vitamin C content in the root of parsley. Three varieties of parsley were used and three fertilization treatments were applied (mineral, organic and organomineral fertilizer) as well as control. The varieties used in the research were: 'Domestic Sawmills', 'Mooskrause', 'Berlin Semi-Long'. The root yield and the vitamin C content in the root of parsley were significantly influenced by variety and type of fertilizer. With use of organic fertilizer, the highest yield of roots was achieved in both research years. The lowest vitamin C content was found in the unfertilized control, while the highest vitamin C content was obtained in the organomineral fertilizer treatment, but did not differ significantly from the treatment with organic fertilizer

    U radu su prikazani rezultati utvrđivanja sadržaja arsena u plodovima dvije sorte nektarina na tri lokacije Hercegovine (Mostar, Čapljina i Stolac) tijekom 2015. i 2016. godine. Nakon utvrđivanja sadržaja arsena u plodovima nektarina, uradio se proračun procjene rizika proračunom nekancerogenog indeksa opasnosti (Hazard Quotient Index, HQI; Indeks koeficijenta opasnosti). Na istraživanim lokacijama uzgajane su dvije sorte nektarina (Big Top i Caldesi 2000). Sadržaj arsena u 2015. godini je utvrđen samo na lokaciji Stolac. U 2016. godini na svim lokacijama je bio ispod LQO (Limit of Quantification, Granica kvantifikacije). Procjenom dnevnog unosa (Estimated daily intake, EDI) i tjednog unosa (Estimated weekly intake, EWI) arsena navedenim sortama nektarina utvrđeno je da nema akutnog ni kroničnog rizika na zdravlje ljudi.The paper presents the results of determining the content of arsenic in the fruits of two nectarine varieties at three locations of Herzegovina (Mostar, Čapljina and Stolac) during 2015 and 2016. After determining the content of arsenic in the fruits of nectarine, the Hazard Quotient Index (HQI) calculation was calculated. The research was carried out at three locations in Herzegovina (Mostar, Čapljina, and Stolac), where nectarine cultivars ("Big Top" and "Caldesi 2000") were cultivated. The content of arsenic on location Stolac was determinated in 2015. In 2016 the content of arsenic were under LQO at all locations. Estimated daily intake (EDI) and estimated weekly intake (EWI) values of arsenic in the studied nectarine varieties showed no acute or chronic risk for human health

    Cardiovascular Risk Factors Associated with Arterial Hypertension in an Emergency Medical Care

    Arterijska hipertenzija (AH) stanje je u kojemu je arterijski tlak (AT) poviÅ”en iznad 139/89 mmHg. Visoki AT ubrzava proces ateroskleroze u stijenkama krvnih žila. Sužene arterije imaju loÅ”iju opskrbu tkiva i organa krvlju te se s vremenom oÅ”tećuju i pogorÅ”ava im se funkcija. Brojni su čimbenici za koje se pokazalo da pridonose nastanku AH-a, kao Å”to su stres, genski čimbenici, puÅ”enje, alkohol, no i prekomjerna tjelesna težina ima vodeću ulogu u nastanku AH-a. Istraživanje je provedeno na 160 ispitanika obaju spolova, starijih od 18 godina, u JZU Dom zdravlja Živinice. Stres i puÅ”enje bili su vodeći čimbenici rizika u ispitanika s AH-om, a bili su prisutni (pojedinačno ili u kombinaciji) u 37,4 % ispitanika. U kontrolnoj skupini (normotenzivnih) ispitanika njih 18 (45,0 %) nije imalo nijedan od uočenih čimbenika rizika. Uočena je znatna razlika u vrijednostima indeksa tjelesne mase između promatranih skupina i normotenzivnih ispitanika.Arterial hypertension (AH) is a medical condition in which blood pressure (BP) is elevated above 139/89 mmHg. High BP accelerates the process of atherosclerosis in the walls of blood vessels. Clogged arteries provide reduced blood supply to tissues and organs, damaging them and their function over time. Numerous factors have been shown to contribute to development of AH, such as stress, genetic factors, smoking, and alcohol, but being overweight also has a leading role in AH development. We conducted a study on 160 participants of both sexes, aged over 18, at the JZU Health Center Živinice. Stress and smoking were leading risk factors in participants with AH, and were present (individually or in combination) in 37.4% of participants. In the control group of (normotensive) participants, 19 (45.0%) had none of the observed risk factors. A significant difference was observed in body mass index between the study group and normotensive controls
