A brief introduction to clil and establishing a clil programme

In the TEFL arena both learners and teachers are constantly looking for the “next big thing,” i.e. a new way teaching (input) with the goal of increasing and improving students’ production (output). A term first coined in 1994 by David Marsh and Anne Maljers, CLIL – content and language integrated learning - has become one of the most significant and talked-about innovations in TEFL over the two decades and is now promoted by educationalists and institutions around the world. “(CLIL) is an educational approach where some content learning (like a topic on global climate, or a subject) is taught in an additional language (such as English language in Korea).” (‘CLIL: An Interview with Professor David Marsh,’ IH Journal 26, Spring 2009) It is important to note that CLIL not a new method; rather it is the fusion of the teaching of content from the curriculum with the teaching of a non-native language, as well as both thinking and learning skills. This gives learners a new experience but also presents new challenges for both students and teachers. The main difference between TEFL and CLIL is that with CLIL the primary focus is on the curricular subject, not the language. It offers a more authentic learning experience with a lot more meaningful exposure to the target language

Profits, Prestige, and a Little Bit of Sunshine: American Independent Cinema Enters the Mainstream

    Get PDF
This thesis investigates the recent developments that have occurred in the independent film market after the major Hollywood studios created their own specialty divisions to produce and distribute independent films. Due to the involvement of the major studios, independent films became more mainstream while their various costs were also driven up due to the increased amount of independent films that were released by the studios. The financial crisis of 2008 forced the major studios to contract their production of independent films and this contraction allowed the prices of independent films to return to more stable levels

Hybrid and Orbitally Excited Mesons in Full QCD

    Get PDF
We present results for the hybrid meson spectrum produced by gluonic excitations in full QCD using Wilson fermions. For the spin-exotic mesons with J^{PC}=1^{-+}, 0^{+-}, and 2^{+-} we find the lightest state to be 1^{-+} with a mass of 1.9(2) GeV. Results obtained for orbitally excited mesons are also presented.Comment: LATTICE98(spectrum),3 pages, LaTeX2e File, 4 PS Figure

One-particle and collective electron spectra in hot and dense QED and their gauge dependence

    Get PDF
The one-particle electron spectrum is found for hot and dense QED and its properties are investigated in comparison with the collective spectrum. It is shown that the one-particle spectrum (in any case its zero momentum limit) is gauge invariant, but the collective spectrum, being qualitatively different, is always gauge dependent. The exception is the case m,μ=0m,\mu=0 for which the collective spectrum long wavelength limit demonstrates the gauge invariance as well.Comment: 9 pages, latex, no figure

Entonces de cada 10 niños hospitalizados en el servicio de pediatría 2 presentan NAC.OBJECTIVES: To know the epidemiological, clinical and treatment characteristics of community-acquired pneumonia in children under 5 years of age. Pediatric Service of the Minsa II-2 Tarapoto Hospital from March 2016 to February 2017. MATERIALS AND METHODS: For which the observational, descriptive and transversal design was used, working with 135 children under 5 years hospitalized in the pediatric service with a diagnosis of pneumonia acquired in the community. For the collection of information, the patient's medical records were used, which meet the inclusion criteria. RESULTS: The predominant sex was masculine in 59.3%, the age group most affected were those under 1 year old (45.2%), with regard to the days of hospitalization, the highest frequency was found in the group of 3 to 5 days (58.3%), the clinical manifestations were cough and polypnea, both with 99.3%, the most characteristic sign being crackles (98.5%), the white blood cell count was elevated in most of the patients, the radiography The thorax showed an alveolar pattern, and the most used antibiotic treatment was ampicillin in 48.9%. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of community-acquired pneumonia was 2% in the period of the investigation, out of a total of 135 patients diagnosed with CAP and a population of 675 children hospitalized in the pediatric service during the study period. Then of every 10 children hospitalized in the pediatric service 2 present CAP.TesisVancouve

Inhomogeneous Magnetoelectric Effect on Defect in Multiferroic Material: Symmetry Prediction

Inhomogeneous magnetoelectric effect in magnetization distribution heterogeneities (0-degree domain walls) appeared on crystal lattice defect of the multiferroic material has been investigated. Magnetic symmetry based predictions of kind of electrical polarization distribution in their volumes were used. It was found that magnetization distribution heterogeneity with any symmetry produces electrical polarization. Results were systemized in scope of micromagnetic structure chirality. It was shown that all 0-degree domain walls with time-noninvariant chirality have identical type of spatial distribution of the magnetization and polarization.Comment: submitted to IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineerin
