    The Trustworthy Communication Environment for Secure Online Transfer of Medical Records

    Get PDF
    This paper proposes a framework for electronic medical record (EMR) system implementation. Currently, the medical industry is experiencing a rapid increase in computerization. The medical companies are trying to improve and streamline business processes, which is leading to organizational changes. More and more physicians communicate with their patients by means of a desktop, notebook or pocket PC. On the way to a paperless medical office IS/MIS organizations need to create trustworthy communication environments, in which all communications are through computers, not pens and paper. This research suggests a trustworthy framework of an EMR system, which provides a solution to the problems of secure on-line transmission of electronic signatures (e-signatures), attached to medical documents. The experimental model proposes a set of conceptual variables

    Increasing the bandwidth of social navigation during the prototyping process

    Thesis (S.M.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, School of Architecture and Planning, Program in Media Arts and Sciences; and, (S.M.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, 2011.Cataloged from PDF version of thesis.Includes bibliographical references (p. 80-83).Social navigation is receiving information and insight from interacting with people or observing the results of their actions. This thesis explores methods for adding social navigation to situations where it would be useful but does not arise naturally. While many researchers have explored methods for incorporating individual components of social navigation, such as sharing buying preferences, existing systems do not provide a seamless experience between the various other aspects of social navigation. In addition, these systems do not address social navigation within the context of object ecologies. In exploring these issues, we focus on how we can increase the bandwidth of social navigation to help people during the design and prototyping process. Prototyping requires one to understand core product requirements, learn new skills quickly, and make choices about materials. We identify situations where we can use technology to increase social navigation and demonstrate InfroCrumbs - a novel way of gathering relevant crumbs of information during the design process to create object use history, and share it within a prototyping environment. We suggest that such a system can be useful during the design process and that capturing object use history is beneficial.by Inna Koyrakh.S.M

    Polarization of tau leptons in semileptonic B decays

    Full text link
    Analytic formulae for the one-loop order QCD corrections to the differential width of the semileptonic b decay are given with the tau polarization taken into account. Thence the polarization of tau is expressed by its energy and the invariant mass of the tau + antineutrino system. The non-perturbative corrections by Falk et al. are incorporated in the calculation.Comment: one footnote and one reference have been added; the paper is going to be published in Nucl. Phys.

    Inclusive Semileptonic Decays in QCD Including Lepton Mass Effects

    Full text link
    Starting from an Operator Product Expansion in the Heavy Quark Effective Theory up to order 1/m_b^2 we calculate the inclusive semileptonic decays of unpolarized bottom hadrons including lepton mass effects. We calculate the differential decay spectra d\Gamma/(dE_\tau ), and the total decay rate for B meson decays to final states containing a \tau lepton.Comment: 16 pages + 4 figs. appended in uuencoded form, LaTeX, MZ-TH/93-3

    Tau Polarization in ΛbXcτνˉ \Lambda_b \to X_c \tau \bar{\nu} and BXcτνˉB \to X_c \tau \bar{\nu}

    We discuss the longitudinal and transverse τ\tau-polarization in inclusive decays of hadrons containing bb-quarks. The calculation is performed by means of an OPE in HQET. Some mathematical difficulties in calculating transverse polarizations are explained. Numerical results are presented for longitudinal and for transverse polarizations, both in and perpendicular to the decay plane.Comment: LATEX, 20 pages, 5 Postscript figure

    The tan(beta) - M_H^\pm bound from inclusive semi-tauonic B-decays in the MSSM

    Full text link
    We compute the O(alpha_s) SUSY-QCD corrections to the W and charged Higgs mediated inclusive semi-tauonic B-decay, B->tau antineutrino_tau X. Combining the SUSY contribution with the SM result obtained from the heavy quark effective field theory, plus ordinary QCD corrections, we find that the allowed region in the (tan(beta),M_H^\pm)-plane could be significantly modified by the short-distance supersymmetric effects. Since the sensitivity to the SUSY parameters other than mu (the higgsino mixing mass) is rather low, the following effective bound emerges for mu<0 at the 2 sigma level: tan(beta)~< 0.43 (M_H^\pm/GeV). Remarkably, for mu>0 there could be no bound at all. Finally, we provide a combined (tan(beta,M_H^\pm) exclusion plot using our B-meson results together with the recent data from top quark decays.Comment: 15 pages, LaTeX, 1 table and 3 figs included as a separate file, full postscript version avaliable at ftp://ftp.ifae.es/preprint/ft/uabft407.ps . Transverse tau polarization in inclusive BˉτνˉX\bar B\to \tau \bar\nu X decays

    Full text link
    We calculate, in the framework of multi Higgs doublet models, the CPCP violating transverse tau polarization, PP_\perp, in inclusive semileptonic BB meson decays. We find that PP_\perp diverges at O(1/mb2){\cal O}(1/m_b^2) of the heavy quark expansion. We discuss the physical reasons for this divergence and show how to regularize it. We find large 1/mb21/m_b^2 corrections that can suppress the CPCP asymmetry by as much as 30\%. The maximal allowed asymmetry is aCP0.34a_{CP}\sim0.34. We discuss how the allowed range is expected to change in the future.Comment: 12 pages RevTeX + 1 figure included, WIS-94/39/Sep-PH, CALT-68-1952.
