Space-time translational gauge identities in Abelian Yang-Mills gravity
We derive and calculate the space-time translational gauge identities in
quantum Yang-Mills gravity with a general class of gauge conditions involving
two arbitrary parameters. These identities of the Abelian group of translation
are a generalization of Ward-Takahasi-Fradkin identities and important for
general discussions of possible renormalization of Yang-Mills gravity with
translational gauge symmetry. The gauge identities in Yang-Mills gravity with a

A Dielectric Flow Solution with Maximal Supersymmetry
We obtain a solution to eleven-dimensional supergravity that consists of
M2-branes embedded in a dielectric distribution of M5-branes. Contrary to
normal expectations, this solution has maximal supersymmetry for a brane
solution (i.e. sixteen supercharges). While the solution is constructed using
gauged supergravity in four dimensions, the complete eleven-dimensional
solution is given. In particular, we obtain the Killing spinors explicitly, and
we find that they are characterised by a duality rotation of the standard
Dirichlet projection matrix for M2-branes.Comment: 17 pages; harvma
Regulation in the Taxi Industry.
This paper examines some of the economic reasons for price and entry regulation in the taxi industry and presents the legal framework under which taxis and hire cars are regulated in England and Wales outside London. It is argued that the current law is defective and should be amended to incorporate explicitly the inter-relationship between fares and vehicle numbers such that the regulators have the discretion to choose between a high price/high availability service and a low price/low availability service
Taxi Licensing Policy 1985-1991.
This paper reviews the effects of the 1985 Transport Act in the Taxi Industry, drawing on the results of surveys of local authorities in 1988, 1989 and 1991. Overall, we find that the Transport Act has had limited success in achieving its objectives. In restricted markets, a substantial and increasing licence premium is enjoyed by licence holders. In deregulated districts, we see generally lower standards of quality enforcement and severe shortages of rank capacity. We think the use of passenger working time as the sole intention for determining regulatory policy is likely to perpetuate these problems, and thus a review of regulation is required so that a better compromise between competing objectives can be achieved
Quantum Yang-Mills gravity in flat space-time and effective curved space-time for motions of classical objects
Yang-Mills gravity with translational gauge group T(4) in flat space-time
implies a simple self-coupling of gravitons and a truly conserved
energy-momentum tensor. Its consistency with experiments crucially depends on
an interesting property that an `effective Riemannian metric tensor' emerges in
and only in the geometric-optics limit of the photon and particle wave
equations. We obtain Feynman rules for a coupled graviton-fermion system,
including a general graviton propagator with two gauge parameters and the
interaction of ghost particles. The equation of motion of macroscopic objects,
as an N-body system, is demonstrated as the geometric-optics limit of the
fermion wave equation. We discuss a relativistic Hamilton-Jacobi equation with

The 1935 Hsinchu-Taichung Earthquake
The history of natural disasters in Taiwan has frequently been linked to the practice of historical preservation, archival science, oral history, and museum curatorship. All are collectively hallmarks of a broad range of activities that fall under the umbrella of public history. The problem for Taiwan, however, concerns the legitimacy. Taiwan does not have a single national narrative. It has been subjected to waves of colonialism since the seventeenth century and does not presently have a fully post-colonial narrative. The earthquakes discussed in this paper occurred in two different periods of colonisation. In order to situate the history of earthquakes into a public history discourse, the field of earthquake-based research in Taiwan has to incorporate different audiences and integrate into a much broader understanding. By this, I mean that the present regimental academic disciplines in Taiwan need to be cross disciplinary, especially since public history is by its very nature collaborative. It illuminates a shared authority over a much wider area. It needs to. It is my argument that it is in digital humanities that Taiwanese academics work best in collaboration. Efforts have been made to digitise the personal experiences of those involved in typhoon reconstruction efforts. A natural synergy, therefore, for the understanding of earthquakes, as public history, is to emphasise access and broad participation in the creation of knowledge. Digital humanities enables this. Attention to this is particularly important in historical preservation of particular sites on an island that frequently develops and re-develops brownfield sites
AdS(3) Solutions of IIB Supergravity from D3-branes
We consider pure D3-brane configurations of IIB string theory which lead to
supersymmetric solutions containing an AdS factor. They can provide new
examples of AdS/CFT examples on D3-branes whose worldvolume is
partially compactified. When the internal 7 dimensional space is non-compact,
they can be identified as supersymmetric fluctuations of higher dimensional AdS
solutions and are in general dual to 1/8-BPS operators thereof. We find that
supersymmetry requires the 7 dimensional space take the form of a warped U(1)
