International Black-Market Organ Trade
The human organ trade is a global epidemic as citizens of developed-countries look to developing-countries to find organ donors, specifically exploiting the poor for their own personal gain. The impoverished organ donors are treated in an inhumane manner, as they are often left with serious medical complications and are not treated equally in the transaction
Quantum trajectories of interacting pseudo-spin-networks
We consider quantum trajectories of composite systems as generated by the
stochastic unraveling of the respective Lindblad-master-equation. Their
classical limit is taken to correspond to local jumps between orthogonal
states. Based on statistical distributions of jump- and inter-jump-distances we
are able to quantify the non-classicality of quantum trajectories. To account
for the operational effect of entanglement we introduce the novel concept of
"co-jumps".Comment: 15 pages, 12 figure
Ordered and Disordered Defect Chaos
Defect-chaos is studied numerically in coupled Ginzburg-Landau equations for
parametrically driven waves. The motion of the defects is traced in detail
yielding their life-times, annihilation partners, and distances traveled. In a
regime in which in the one-dimensional case the chaotic dynamics is due to
double phase slips, the two-dimensional system exhibits a strongly ordered
stripe pattern. When the parity-breaking instability to traveling waves is
approached this order vanishes and the correlation function decays rapidly. In
the ordered regime the defects have a typical life-time, whereas in the
disordered regime the life-time distribution is exponential. The probability of
large defect loops is substantially larger in the disordered regime.Comment: 8 pages revtex, 8 figure
The tax gap: America\u27s underreported revenues
This paper will discuss the tax gap, both as an overall national issue and as related to individual business income. First, the relevance of the tax gap in today’s economy will be addressed and background information regarding the tax gap will be provided. Next the small business environment will be examined, focusing on why the tax gap is so prevalent there. Proposed tax gap reduction measures will be explored, including an examination of the benefits and shortcomings associated with each measure. Future challenges will also be looked at, focusing on the impact such proposed measures will have on the operations of the nation’s small businesses. Finally, a recommendation will be given as to the most effective and efficient tax gap reduction strategy in both the short-term and long-term
