A prospective clinical comparison of two intravenous polyurethane cannulae

The integrity of the cannulae on removal, the incidence of infection at the cannula site and the factors which influence phlebitis were also examined. One thousand and eight patients had a polyurethane cannula placed for induction of anaesthesia for cardiac surgery. After surgery, the cannula was examined every 24 hours. If evidence of phlebitis occurred, the cannula was removed and sent for culture. All remaining cannulae were removed at 72 hours and the site examined daily for a further three days. There were 503 Optiva™ and 505 Insyte™ cannulae studied. The distributions between the two cannulae with respect to patient characteristics, gauge of cannula, number of attempts and difficulty of insertion, cannula site and anaesthetist inserting were similar. The early removal rate for both groups was 47%. Overall phlebitis rate with Optiva™ was 31% and Insyte™ 33%. This difference is not statistically significant. The cumulative phlebitis rate increased with time but did not differ between the two types of cannulae. Minor tip distortion or shaft kinking of the cannulae occurred in 16.2% of Optiva™ and 23.5% of Insyte™. This difference is statistically significant and may relate to the slightly more acute taper at the Optiva™ cannula tip. Both cannulae were similar in clinical performance.W.J. Russell, S. Micik, S. An Enhanced Digital Text passing system using SHA-512 and AES

In the present scenario the use of images increased extremely in the cyber world so that we can easily transfer data with the help of these images in a secured way. Image steganography becomes important in this manner. Steganography and cryptography are the two techniques that are often confused with each other. The input and output of steganography looks alike, but for cryptography the output will be in an encrypted form which always draws attraction to the attacker. This paper combines both steganography and cryptography so that attacker doesn’t know about the existence of message and the message itself is encrypted to ensure more security. The textual data entered by the user is encrypted using AES algorithm. After encryption, the encrypted data is stored in the colour image by using a hash based algorithm. We have proposed a novel algorithm for mixing the AES ciphertext and the SHA-512 hash obtained from plaintext, which is embedded into an image so that the attacker cannot separate them for applying cryptanalysis. Le Klondyke de Rouyn et les Dumulon, histoire du développement de la région de Rouyn et d'une famille de pionniers

«Le Klondyke de Rouyn et les Dumulon» constitue le rapport de synthèse d'une recherche d'interprétation historique du site classé La Maison Dumulon. Située sur les bords du Lac Osisko, au coeur de Rouyn-Noranda, La Maison Dumulon témoigne du vécu d'une famille de pionniers et de la ruée minière de Rouyn du milieu des années 1920. La recherche à la demande de La Corporation de La Maison Dumulon et financée par le Ministère des Affaires culturelles du Québec comportait plusieurs aspects. Il s'agissait de réaliser une bibliographie thématique, d'élaborer un dossier de données brutes et d'effectuer une recherche photographique sur le sujet. Le résultat de la recherche devait comprendre un travail d'illustration cartographique sur le développement minier et l'évolution urbaine, un travail d'illustration photographique et un texte synthèse. La recherche fut effectuée entre juillet et décembre 1981 par Carmelle Dion et Benoît-Beaudry Gourd des Productions Abitibi-Témiscamingue de Rouyn.
