    Metadata for Compound Objects

This training introduced the large-scale approach to describing multi-page digital compound objects. It was developed to disambiguate and clarify the new approach of describing compound objects in Project client/ContentDm. The training focused on important metadata fields, provided practical examples and instructed student assistants and staff how to apply the new rules consistently across all collections. The training session was followed by hands-on activities and discussion

Successful Management of an Outsourced Large-scale Digitization Newspaper Project

This article uses the case study of the Nevada Digital Newspaper Project (https://nvdnp.wordpress.com/), an extension of the National Digital Newspaper Program (https://www.loc.gov/ndnp/), to introduce proven strategies on how to successfully manage a large-scale digitization project. It provides tips on how to stay within the timeline and deliver products with outstanding quality, leveraging limited human resources, and engaging an external digitization vendor. It discusses practical project management techniques and tools, strategies for establishing collaborative vendor partnerships, and strategies for efficient communication with stakeholders

Techniques for Successful Management of a Lare-scale Newspaper Digitization Project with Outsourced Digitization

Large-scale digitization of historical materials is on the rise thanks to all grants available for cultural heritage institutions. Often the awarded institutions/professionals don\u27t have detailed plans how to organize the work so all available resources are effectively used, all grant deadlines are met and the deliverables are of excellent quality. Project management skills are vital for successful large-scale digitization projects. This poster session will use the case study of the Nevada’s National Digital Newspaper Project to introduce tips proven to work. The poster is aimed at awardees/project managers seeking to learn how to successfully manage large-scale digitization projects using limited human resources and external digitization vendors to complete the work within the time-frame. Attendees will learn techniques for effective collaboration, increased productivity and outstanding final product deliverables. Some techniques that will be detailed include: team selection, setting goals/benchmarks with vendors, engaging stakeholders, iterative workflow development, work segmentation, time management, scheduling, risk management, and gathering statistics for decision-making and assessment

Rozdział z: Functioning of the Local Production Systems in Central and Eastern European Countries and Siberia. Case Studies and Comparative Studies, ed. Mariusz E. Sokołowicz. In the environment of global competition, the role of clusters in creating national competitive advantage is rapidly increasing. One of the first and successfully developing clusters in Bulgaria, with a contribution to the economic development of the country, is mining cluster “Srednogorie Med.” Established on the regional industrial principle, the cluster, as a type of local production systems, brings together the efforts of the companies for the mining and processing of copper and gold-containing ores, located on the territory of Central Sredna Gora, the companies, serving industrial production and the municipalities on whose territory the companies operate. This paper aims mainly presenting the level of competitiveness of the local “Srednogorie Med” cluster with the usage of M. E. Porter’s diamond model as well as at outlining the preconditions and limitations for the creation of a competitive advantage for the cluster in its future development. The study is based on secondary information (periodicals and the Internet), as well as personal interviews with representatives of the cluster.Monograph financed under a contract of execution of the international scientific project within 7th Framework Programme of the European Union, co-financed by Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education (title: “Functioning of the Local Production Systems in the Conditions of Economic Crisis (Comparative Analysis and Benchmarking for the EU and Beyond”)). Monografia sfinansowana w oparciu o umowę o wykonanie projektu między narodowego w ramach 7. Pencils of quadrics and Gromov-Witten-Welschinger invariants of CP3\mathbb C P^3

We establish a formula for the Gromov-Witten-Welschinger invariants of CP3\mathbb CP^3 with mixed real and conjugate point constraints. The method is based on a suggestion by J. Koll\'ar that, considering pencils of quadrics, some real and complex enumerative invariants of CP3\mathbb CP^3 could be computed in terms of enumerative invariants of CP1×CP1\mathbb CP^1\times\mathbb CP^1 and of elliptic curves.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figures, minor corrections following referee's suggestion
