    Ayurveda is the science of living being. With the aim of health and procurement of disease it almost covers all facets of life. It includes health of an individual at physical, mental, spiritual, social level. Ayurvedic classics includes brihatrayee samhita like Charak, Sushruta and Ashtanga Hridaya. A review based study of music (geet, sangeet) was done in these classics to explore whether these classics includes any form of music as therapy or not. Based on review of these classics it was found that music in form of geet (vocal or instrument) has been given in contexts like vajikara(aphrodisiac), vata/pitta prakriti (basic consititutional make up), gandharva sattva, madyapana (intake of alcohol), therapy for rajyakshma (immune deficiency diseases), sanyasa (syncope/coma), jivadan (haemetemesis) etc. various swara have been correlated with their pacifying power of three sharirikadoshas viz. vata, pitta and kapha. Also a relationship between various raga of indian classical music have been said to be based on time of its singing which may be used as a therapy to pacify the dearrangement of prevalent doshas. several articles have shown music as therapy in sleep disorder, psychiatric disorders, schizophrenia, cardiovascular, cancer etc. with this paper a perspective of Ayurveda have been explored in music therapeutics

    Ayurveda is science of living being. Aim of Ayurveda is mantainance of healthy life and pacification of diseases of diseased ones. Dharma, artha, kama and moksha these four are together called chaturvidha purushartha which is achieved by arogya (health).Ayurveda holds view of its independent darshanika viewthough it has shades of nearly all six astika darshanas. Mimamsa’s first verse implies its motto to explore Dharma. Ayurveda considers dharma as one of basic component to health. Dharma has been described under trieshana by acharya Bhela. Various conducts are described under sadavritta, achararasayana, moksha marga, naishtikichikitsa. Ayurveda describes three types of treatment which are yuktivyapshraya, daivavyapashraya and sattvavajaya. This daivyapashraya includes mantra, ausadhi, mani, mangal, bali, upahaar, homa, niyama,prayashchita, upawaas, swastyayana, pranipata, gamana etc. These type of methods are widely described in karma kanda of mimamsa darshana. This treatment method has been used in curing of diseases like unmada,graharoga. Methods of yagya has been described as well as used in putreshti and punsawansamskara described in charakasamhita. From creation of living to issues of health, disease and its treatment these fundamental principles are the root. These can be enumerated as Tridosha, Panchamahabhuta, Prakriti, Ojas, Dhatu, Mala, Agni, Manas, Atma etc. They are most unique and original approach to the material creation and it has all scope to incorporate the modern development in the elemental physics. The aim of Ayurveda is to maintain the proper equilibrium of dosa, dhatus, and mala constituent in order to preserve health in a healthy person and cure a disease in a diseased person.The presence of cognition as well as the absence of cognition is an indication of the mind. In the presence of senses with senses object and soul the man does not perceive a thing in the absence of mind that is to say that senses are unable to grasp the object in the absence of Manas. The term Ojas has been used in Ayurveda for the factor which prevents decay and degeneratioif the body and provides strength and support against a disease.     Investigating The Role of AEG-1 in Mouse Models of Pain

    Background: Astrocyte Elevated Gene 1 (AEG-1) is a multifunctional protein shown to be a regulator of transcription and multiple intracellular signaling pathways. The role of AEG-1 in cellular inflammation appears to be primarily facilitated by its direct interaction with the transcription factor NFκB, transcriptional regulator of inflammatory cytokines. May be have a potential role in models of pain, particularly chronic inflammatory and chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN). Methods: C57BL6/J male and female mice, 8-14 weeks old. AEG-1 wild type (WT) and global knockout (KO) male and female mice, 8-14 weeks old. Chronic Inflammatory Pain induced via i.pl. injection of 50% Freund\u27s Complete Adjuvant (CFA) or vehicle into mouse right hind paw. CIPN induced via four 8 mg/kg, i.p. injections of Paclitaxel or vehicle (Toma, et. al). Mechanical hypersensitivity assessed via von frey filaments. Acetone Test was used to assess cold sensitivity. mRNA transcripts collected from tissues were measured via qRT-PCR. Results: AEG-1 KO mice displayed protection from CFA induced mechanical hypersensitivity, thermal sensitivity, and reduces paw edema compare to WT mice. AEG-1 KO mice displayed enhanced recovery from paclitaxel induced mechanical hypersensitivity and cold sensitivity compared to WT mice. AEG-1 expression levels in the periaqueductal grey, spinal cord, and L4-6 corresponding dorsal root ganglia collected from C57BL6/J mice treated with 8mg/Kg paclitaxel or 50% CFA (3 days post injection) showed no difference from control groups. Conclusions: Our data suggest that AEG-1 may be involved in inflammatory and CIPN related nociception in C57BL6/J mice.https://scholarscompass.vcu.edu/gradposters/1093/thumbnail.jp

    In his thesis paper, entitled: Theatre of Trauma , MFA Directing candidate Nathan Singh uses his three years of graduate school to further develop his theories of a theatre of trauma. He uses class-work, productions and the philosophies/works of other theatre-makers to articulate how theatre is a powerful outlet to show survivors processing different types of trauma. In doing this, he has expands his vision and aesthetic on directing (or generating) works about trauma and human suffering. He also investigates how theatre can help heal and/or reclaim trauma. In the first part, he shares his background on how to got to The Theatre School at DePaul University. The work he was doing in Los Angeles, both theatrically as a freelance director and personally in therapy, was subconsciously pushing him towards the topic of trauma. In his first year of grad school, he learned text analysis that helped track the journey of characters, directed a play about Repressed Memory Syndrome, learned about (and was influenced by) directing theorists who were tackling social and societal trauma in their work, and generated postdramatic theatre pieces that combined images with different types of emotional scars

    The increase in demand and consumption of electricity has led to an increase in system errors. Superconducting Residual Current Limiters (SFCLs) provide ideal performance in the power grid. The concept of superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) suggests two types of superconducting materials. First of all Resistive-SFCL (which is inserted directly in series with the circuit to be protected). Second, the inductive SFCL (a transformer shorted by a superconducting tube). We also explore some uses of the proposed SFCLs to limit the fault current that appears in the electrical network. The fault current level has become a major problem in the operation of transmission and distribution systems. Applying the superconducting residual current limiter (SFCL) would not only reduce the load on the equipment in the network, but can also provide a link to improve the reliability of the power system.     Sea water for reactive dyeing of cottonfabrics

    In this research work, trials have been taken up with sea water,as an alternative, for dyeing of cotton with different shades of reactivedye and different salt level contents. Dyeing has been carried out withhot brand reactive dye Red H8B using normal water, RO water andsea water (with and without salt). It is inferred that the exhaustion andfixation of the dye are better in case of sea water dyeing. The wash,rub and perspiration fastness are good for sea water dyeing and insome cases the ratings are comparable and in most case the ratings aresimilar to that of the ground water and RO water dyeing
