The Developmental Effects on the Daughter of an Absent Father Throughout her Lifespan
Fatherless households are becoming increasingly common throughout the United States. As a result, more and more children are growing up without the support of both parents, and this may be causing developmental consequences. While there has been significant research conducted on the effect of absent fathers on children in general, there has been far less research regarding girls specifically. As discovered in this paper, girls are often impacted differently than boys when it comes to growing up without a father. The current research paper aims to discover just exactly how girls are impacted by this lack of a parent throughout their lifetimes, from birth to adulthood

Studies on the Germination of Pumpkin Pollen
Attempts have been made to germinate the pollen of Cucurbita pepo and Cucurbita moschata on artificial media. Various combinations of sugars and agar dissolved in distilled water were first used. It was found that two grams of agar and 14 grams of sucrose in 100 cc. of solution gave the best results, 10 per cent germination being obtained

A systematic study of squashes and pumpkins
In no other important group of vegetables is there more widespread confusion regarding nomenclature and classification than in pumpkins and squashes. Even the generic terms are misused and a number of varieties of pumpkins are called squashes, and conversely. Renaming of varieties has also run riot. The Table Queen, for example, a comparatively recent introduction, is listed under at least six different names. The renaming of varieties is in the long run a detriment to all concerned. The grower soon learns the facts in the case and his reaction toward a dealer who sells seed of standard varieties under new names is anything but favorable. The seedsman of today must succeed on the basis of quality by disseminating superior strains of standard varieties rather than by presenting known varieties under new names. The introduction of novelties is not to be discouraged, but the renaming of an existing variety and calling it a novelty does not make it such
