Principal subspaces of higher-level standard sl(3)^-modules
We use the theory of vertex operator algebras and intertwining operators to
obtain systems of q-difference equations satisfied by the graded dimensions of
the principal subspaces of certain level k standard modules for
\hat{\goth{sl}(3)}. As a consequence we establish new formulas for the graded
dimensions of the principal subspaces corresponding to the highest-weights
i\Lambda_1+(k-i)\Lambda_2, where 1 \leq i \leq k and \Lambda_1 and \Lambda_2
are fundamental weights of \hat{\goth{sl}(3)}.Comment: 25 pages; v2: minor revision
Romania as a project-oriented society
Projects and project management play an increasing role in the global economy. In a context marked by the evolution of project management from a technical function to an organizational methodology that can be embraced successfully by communities, associations, government agencies, big companies, and even by the society as a whole, the concept of “project-oriented society” gains ground. Not only is the concept on the rise, but also research on measuring the maturity level of the project-oriented society. The main assumption underlying this paper is that there is a correlation between the maturity of project orientation and the managerial competitiveness of each society. The paper explores this correlation by presenting in detail the research study “Project Orientation Romania”, which focused on the main measurable dimensions of a project-oriented society.project management, maturity, society, education, research
Project oriented university – an emerging concept
The purpose of this article is to introduce a brand new concept, that of the project-oriented university, as a university that explicitly uses projects and programmes to perform processes of medium to high complexity, thus allowing it to better handle the increasing turbulence and dynamics of its environments. An analytical grid for assessing the maturity of a university in terms of its project orientation is offered, taking into account both hard and soft factors. The National School for Political Sciences and Public Administration from Bucharest is analysed in this perspective, the assessment being the basis for explaining the paradox of having projects, but no project management. The findings are considered representative for the Romanian higher education system as a whole, with due nuances and exceptions.project maturity, competitive advantage, university, organizational strategy.
Vertex-algebraic structure of the principal subspaces of certain A_1^(1)-modules, II: higher level case
We give an a priori proof of the known presentations of (that is,
completeness of families of relations for) the principal subspaces of all the
standard A_1^(1)-modules. These presentations had been used by Capparelli,
Lepowsky and Milas for the purpose of obtaining the classical Rogers-Selberg
recursions for the graded dimensions of the principal subspaces. This paper
generalizes our previous paper.Comment: 26 pages; v2: minor revisions, to appear in Journal of Pure and

Memory and memories: An interdisciplinary approach
Only humans seem to have the ability to project themselves into their past or future. This mental phenomenon, called autonoetic consciousness, proves the interrelation of memory, imagination, emotion, intelligence and consciousness as a way of creating self-images. The current paper constitutes an integrative study on memory from a theoretical perspective. The first part presents the most known neuroscientific viewpoints on the memory process, along with the pathological case of patient HM, who lost his memory following the removal of his hippocampus. The second part provides a humanistic perspective on recollection to demonstrate its compatibility with the neurological processes of storing information and forming memories. The final part conveys the phenomenon of recollection from the perspective of identity crisis in Kazuo Ishiguro’s novels, as a case study in memory literature. According to memory theories to date, identity cannot exist outside the process of recording and recalling past experiences. Despite the fallible nature of recollection, human beings return to their past in order to give a healthy meaning to their present
